Let's Eat! - UI/UX & App Development
Our client is a real foodie, having travelled all over the world he came up with the awesome idea of “bringing people together through food”
The idea is for users to register on the app, entering their location and food preferences i.e liked cuisines and disliked cuisines and whether they would like to be connected with a male, female or no preference.
People looking to connect are then matched based on the above criteria. To be clear, this is not a dating app. The idea is that like minded foodies connect with each other through food. They can then meet at a restaurant of their choice with the idea of making a new friend!
The app allows the user to create events at different restaurants. I.e birthday parties, get togethers etc
This app is free to download for users however the business opportunity is the restaurants and venues pay to subscribe to the platform. They are then given access to their own web based portal where they can manage bookings, add specials and update their menu offerings.
Businesses are also able to create events and users are matched to upcoming events, where they can accept or decline.
After we had created the logo concepts and brand guide our UI/UX designers then went to work on creating the UI/UX prototypes. One for the mobile app (for the end user) one for the restaurant/venue web portal and one for the super administrator.
We began development by breaking the project into sprints and at each sprint we invited the client in to demo the progress of the app.
Client demos are always exciting as this is where the client sees their app for the first time working and functioning. Nothing compares to the smile from a client when they see their app idea brought to life!
The result is a mobile application which has been developed for iOS and Android, a web based application for restaurants and venues and a web based application for the super administrator.
WorkNow - UI/UX Prototyping
WorkNow is a recruitment application which has the aim of bringing employers and employees together for full time work, contracted work and labour hire work. WorkNow will disrupt the recruitment industry and aims to become the leading platform.
Media Shark began the project with logo concepts and a brand guide. Once the brand identity had been created, the team designed the UI/UX prototypes. One for the mobile app (for the end user) one for the business (a web portal) and one for the super administrator.
Media Shark has created the prototypes for the User (mobile application), the business (web application) and the Super Administrator (web application). The UI/UX prototypes are blueprint for development. Our client is currently in the process of raising investment for this project and we look forward to moving to development in the near future.
Discount Codes - UI/UX & App Development
With a passion for style our clients wanted to create a simple and effective app to help users bring the latest trends to fashionistas by providing exclusive discounted pricing.
Discount codes is the first influencer based app where users register for the app and are then able to access hundreds of different discounts provided by various influencers and businesses all separated into user friendly categories.
Businesses also register for the app and pay a monthly subscription to also put their codes on the app.
We began by creating some different logo concepts and presented these to our clients taking feedback and updating where necessary. We ended up with a sleek and clean logo in black and white.
Our designers then created a brand guide, which included the correct use of ths logo, fonts and imagery. We also provided the copy for the style guide to give the brand a voice! The tone we chose was confident, strong and classy. Using sharp, chic vogue style wording.
Mobile app and web app prototypes were created ensuring every detail was thought of. Our clickable prototypes ensure all stakeholders and developers are on the same page when it comes to the functionality required when developing the application.
Development was broken down into a number of sprints, with a client demo at the end of each sprint. Once the development was complete we deployed Discout Codes into the App Store & Play Store.
We continue to work closely with our valued clients working through updates and providing support when required.
Chatsta - UI/UX & App Development
Chatsta is about to be the biggest new social messenger app with a difference! The app will include animations, sounds and end to end encrypted burn messages for ultimate privacy.
This project began with creating a custom set of emojis and we then moved on to creating the UI/UX prototypes for the mobile app for the User and web application for the Super Administrator.
Chatsa is currently in development and due to be released into the App and Playstores later in 2022.
Barburly - UI/UX Prototyping
Our client is a successful business owner with a long and established career in the barbering industry. He wanted to create “Revolutionary Smart Software Systems Advancing the Barbering Industry” allowing barbers to have a more streamlined experience with their clients from the booking process, to choosing a service and then payment.
The software allows business owners to manage their establishments anytime and anywhere giving freedom and flexibility to run their business how they want.
The team spent time working on the user stories and feature lists to ensure the UX was engaging and functional, then our UI/UX designers created prototypes for mobile and web applications for the users, businesses and suppliers.
Further to this we created a classy and sophisticated website landing page to solidify Barburly as a brand and give potential users some information on what Barburly is and what they can expect from the applications once they have been developed.

Standards Guru - UI/UX & App Development
Standards Guru is a custom software application which has been developed for users needing to access specific Australian Industry Standards within various industries.
The application was designed to be simple with a clean and modern UI/UX. Media Shark created prototypes for the User (a mobile application) and the Super Administrator (web application) who can view specific data and analytics in the back end. These analytics include time spent in the application and amount of searches and number of searches by date range.
Users of this enterprise application will be able to access the app, select specific standards and save them to a list of favourites. They will also be able to use the exact keyword search feature to find specific text in the standards and save this to favourites aswell.
This is a simple, yet highly effective custom application designed to enhance productivty among employees and businesses.
Stratcomm - App Development
Media Shark were engaged to design and develop and employee engagement tool suitable for small and large organisations.
The web application allows companies to send out employee engagement surveys to their staff to understand work productivity and overall wellbeing.
The information is collated into the dashboard for team leaders to see an insant snapshot of how their workforce is performing and feeling.
Employee engagement applications continue to assist with culture and performance particularly with hybrid and remote working models.

We were engaged to create the UI/UX prototypes for the application which was then developed for iOS and Android.

Heman – Allocate App
Farm Management - App Development
The Farm Management Application was developed for farm management and Blueberry picking.
The application feeds back data to head office regarding the individual pickers on weight of the product picked and/or the hours worked.
The application also calculates the rate of pay based on the current rate of pay per gram of blueberries picked.
These types of applications can assist with farm and livestock management as well as administration, reporting and tracking sales revenue.
This application was developed as a mobile and web application.
E-Moped - UI/UX Prototyping
Media Shark were engaged to assist with the brand identiy and UI/UX design for this project. eMoped is an eco-friendly way to travel around the city of Brisbane.
We worked closely with our clients to design a user friendly and engaging piece of on demand software.
Kolab - UI/UX Prototyping
Our client is the owner of a very successful Brisbane tattoo studio, with many years of experience in the creative industry. Kolab is a professional platform designed to bring like minded creatives together professionally and personally.
Users can build a profile and include personal and professional images as well as links to their portfolios. Users can post to a news feed and search for potential collaborations.
There is a section for trending categories and inside these categories are mini news feeds and people who have marked themselves as professionals in this category.
The client had a very clear vision of the logo, and with a few colour tweaks we created a striking K for Kolab which was intertwined to represent the creatives working in collaboration with each other.
Once the logo and branding was completed. Our designers began to create the UI/UX prototypes for the mobile app and the web admin panel. Initially, we began with a light theme, however we decided that the dark theme was more striking and we were right, our client was very happy with this.
We then presented the finished prototypes to our client at an inhouse Demo. As we’ve mentioned before, this part is always a favourite of ours. Particularly with this client as Kolab had been an idea for many years, so seeing the project come to life was incredibly rewarding for the team.
The result is a clean, striking and intelligently designed UI/UX prototype for a mobile app and a web admin panel.
Our client is currently raising seed funding for this project.

I’m the founder of Staff App, a staffing management tool.
What challenge were you trying to address with Media Shark?
We needed help to develop our website and mobile application.
What was the scope of their involvement?
Media Shark built three products from scratch: a business portal, an admin portal, and an employee app. All the products needed to work together to complete our business.
They used Flutter as one of their key technologies. They also helped with some design; Media Shark came up with standard designs and helped us with the general layout and color scheme. Other than that, they mostly focused on app development.
What is the team composition?
We dealt with Tom (Director).
How did you come to work with Media Shark?
I found them through Google while looking for app developers in my local area. I met with Media Shark and decided to go ahead with them.
How much have you invested in them?
We spent less than $100,000 AUD (approximately $66,000 USD).
What is the status of this engagement?
We worked with them from March 2022–February 2023.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
They were great at listening and understanding our industry. Media Shark took the time to get to know the space and communicated extremely well with us.
How did Media Shark perform from a project management standpoint?
They delivered everything on time. We communicated via emails, Skype chat, and Google Meet. Additionally, we went to their office several times.
What did you find most impressive about them?
Their communication skills were outstanding.
Are there any areas they could improve?
No, I can’t think of anything at the moment.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
I suggest having an excellent understanding of what you need to build. Before going to any app developer, take the time to go through everything you’re asking to build and know every function your app might need.
For example, we didn’t think about a few things before starting, so we had to do them while going through the development process. We didn’t blame Media Shark for that; we were supposed to know how things were built and how they worked. Many people can have a good idea, but there are many add-ons and extra features behind the scenes to make it all function correctly. Therefore, you should ensure that you’re building it the right way from the beginning to achieve the project in the easiest way possible and at the cheapest cost.

We went through a few agencies and got a great connection with Tom and Lara, who were also interested in food. I saw their excitement when I talked about the app and where it could go.

We haven’t marketed the application yet, but the whole transition going through Media Shark has been very simple. This is the first time I’ve done any app-related work, and I’ve felt very comfortable working with them. They’re helpful in every aspect. Overall, Media Shark has made the project manageable; collaborating with them is an all-around pleasure.
How did Media Shark perform from a project management standpoint?
They’re very responsive. They generally call me back within 10 minutes if they don’t pick up the phone when I call them. They’re also responsive to emails; they always answer within the same day. With any questions or queries, it’s always good to know that they’re not far away.
We communicate through texts, phone calls, and email.
What did you find most impressive about them?
They’re outstandingly approachable. Overall, their communication is fantastic.
Are there any areas they could improve?
No, I have no complaints. Knowing how they deal with everything, I’d happily go back to them.

We thoroughly searched for an app developer, had many interviews with others and then came across Media Shark. After having a zoom meeting we chose this vendor as we felt we connected and really liked their professionalism and ideas as they stood out from others.

We had meetings in regards to what our vision was and what we wanted to achieve out of our app. We had designs drawn out and provided it to Media Shark. we had a a prototype made up and had revised some changes before going ahead with our app. We wanted features to be implemented into our app which allows users to search, favourite businesses or influencers so when they add a new code they would be notified, copy code and go to store which takes them straight to the website also. Media Shark created mobile IOS application, Android application and custom admin panel. the technology used was Flutter, Node js, angular, Mongo DB, AWS.

We had Tom as the Project manager and Alexa UI/UX designer.

once we launched our app we had great feedback from users, Influencers and businesses saying how user friendly our app is and that it was such a good idea. we were very happy with our feedback

Tom, the project manager has been so easy to communicate with. we had clear communication from the start and at every step of the process of creating this app. We had in person, zoom and phone meetings and all communication was done through email aswell. We appreciated his availability and follow ups with deadlines and honest feedbacks etc.

What makes this company different is that the success of the app even after it is live is in their best interest. They are very thorough in executing the app to exactly what our vision is. Tom was honest and gave ideas to help us improve in certain areas as this was our first app with no tech knowladge. Tom took the extra time to help us learn and understand how it works.
Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?
We are very happy with Media Shark and had trust that they will deliver an amazing app. which they did not disappoint.
