What challenge were you trying to address with Media Shark?

We needed help to develop our website and mobile application.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Media Shark built three products from scratch: a business portal, an admin portal, and an employee app. All the products needed to work together to complete our business.

They used Flutter as one of their key technologies. They also helped with some design; Media Shark came up with standard designs and helped us with the general layout and color scheme. Other than that, they mostly focused on app development.

What is the team composition?

We dealt with Tom (Director).

How did you come to work with Media Shark?

I found them through Google while looking for app developers in my local area. I met with Media Shark and decided to go ahead with them.

How much have you invested in them?

We spent less than $100,000 AUD (approximately $66,000 USD).

What is the status of this engagement?

We worked with them from March 2022–February 2023.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

They were great at listening and understanding our industry. Media Shark took the time to get to know the space and communicated extremely well with us.

How did Media Shark perform from a project management standpoint?

They delivered everything on time. We communicated via emails, Skype chat, and Google Meet. Additionally, we went to their office several times.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Their communication skills were outstanding.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, I can’t think of anything at the moment.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

I suggest having an excellent understanding of what you need to build. Before going to any app developer, take the time to go through everything you’re asking to build and know every function your app might need.

For example, we didn’t think about a few things before starting, so we had to do them while going through the development process. We didn’t blame Media Shark for that; we were supposed to know how things were built and how they worked. Many people can have a good idea, but there are many add-ons and extra features behind the scenes to make it all function correctly. Therefore, you should ensure that you’re building it the right way from the beginning to achieve the project in the easiest way possible and at the cheapest cost.

Media Shark has built our subscription-based platform for restaurants. The app is available for iOS and Android; users can download it for free and jump on from there.

We work with Tom (Director) and Lara (Business Development and Marketing Manager).

How did you come to work with Media Shark?

We went through a few agencies and got a great connection with Tom and Lara, who were also interested in food. I saw their excitement when I talked about the app and where it could go.

We've spent just under $80,000 AUD (approximately $51,000 USD).

What is the status of this engagement?

We began working with them in January 2021, and our relationship is ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We haven’t marketed the application yet, but the whole transition going through Media Shark has been very simple. This is the first time I’ve done any app-related work, and I’ve felt very comfortable working with them. They’re helpful in every aspect. Overall, Media Shark has made the project manageable; collaborating with them is an all-around pleasure.

How did Media Shark perform from a project management standpoint?

They’re very responsive. They generally call me back within 10 minutes if they don’t pick up the phone when I call them. They’re also responsive to emails; they always answer within the same day. With any questions or queries, it’s always good to know that they’re not far away.

We communicate through texts, phone calls, and email.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They’re outstandingly approachable. Overall, their communication is fantastic.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, I have no complaints. Knowing how they deal with everything, I’d happily go back to them.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Just reach out to them and share your idea. Media Shark is helpful, keen to express their ideas, and willing to give you feedback. They’ll tell you if they think it’ll be a good app or project.

I had heard that Media Shark were very good in their field, so I sought them out and turns out they were at the top of a google search, so I gave them a call.

I just pitched my idea to Tom and his team, and they meticulously assembled a beautiful working prototype for my app idea. I received weekly calls and progress updates from the team, and they paid close attention to what I needed from them to realise this project.

I was helped extensively by the two lead developers and the graphic designer.

The prototype was delivered on time and perfect working order, and has provided an integral part of the pitch for investors.

Their project management style was extremely professional, but at the same time warm and welcoming. I always felt that I was being listened to and that my queries were being met.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

I found MediaShark to be very astute, very knowledgeable, and extremely professional without being stuffy or bureaucratic. They were warm and friendly without being patronising, and provided answers to my ignorant questions without hesitation.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

Not so far, no.

For what projects/services did your company hire Media Shark, and what were your goals?

We wanted to develop a user friendly mobile app to provide consumers with discount codes from Australian businesses and influencers on this one app.

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

We thoroughly searched for an app developer, had many interviews with others and then came across Media Shark. After having a zoom meeting we chose this vendor as we felt we connected and really liked their professionalism and ideas as they stood out from others.

We had meetings in regards to what our vision was and what we wanted to achieve out of our app. We had designs drawn out and provided it to Media Shark. we had a a prototype made up and had revised some changes before going ahead with our app. We wanted features to be implemented into our app which allows users to search, favourite businesses or influencers so when they add a new code they would be notified, copy code and go to store which takes them straight to the website also. Media Shark created mobile IOS application, Android application and custom admin panel. the technology used was Flutter, Node js, angular, Mongo DB, AWS.

We had Tom as the Project manager and Alexa UI/UX designer.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

once we launched our app we had great feedback from users, Influencers and businesses saying how user friendly our app is and that it was such a good idea. we were very happy with our feedback

Tom, the project manager has been so easy to communicate with. we had clear communication from the start and at every step of the process of creating this app. We had in person, zoom and phone meetings and all communication was done through email aswell. We appreciated his availability and follow ups with deadlines and honest feedbacks etc.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

What makes this company different is that the success of the app even after it is live is in their best interest. They are very thorough in executing the app to exactly what our vision is. Tom was honest and gave ideas to help us improve in certain areas as this was our first app with no tech knowladge. Tom took the extra time to help us learn and understand how it works.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

We are very happy with Media Shark and had trust that they will deliver an amazing app. which they did not disappoint.
