helping brands win FROM WITHIN™

While most agencies focus on a brand’s outward effects, we start with the inside. A brand that’s well understood and executed internally first is head and shoulders above its competitors because everyone in the organization is living and breathing the brand's purpose and culture. They’re “drinking the Kool-Aid," not just putting on a name badge and going to work.

Kansas Community Colleges Billboard Image

Kansas Community Colleges Billboard

Kansas Association of Community College Trustees has multiple audiences: students and prospective students, legislators and business. MB Piland is helping them build communications that engage audiences, elevate the value of community college programs and inform policy makers about their important role in growing the economy.

A multi media campaign including online, collateral, outdoor, transit and a soon-to-launch

website reaches audiences where—and when—they're most receptive.

Washburn University Foundation Image

Washburn University Foundation

A wonderful creative assignment: develop a distinctive brand look for Washburn University Foundation—yet make sure it identifies as uniquely Washburn. We took a key element from Washburn's signature Ichabod Washburn mascot to be a signature for the Foundation to hang its hat on. Unmistakable!

Uncork the Real Costs Image

Uncork the Real Costs

We've worked on many health and education issues—and every one is something we believe matters. This is one we're especially proud to have helped. "Uncork Kansas" would have allowed the sale of strong beer and wine in grocery and convenience stores in Kansas.

Though it would have brought more convenience to consumers, the price is too high: increased access and danger to youth, and harm to small business and economic

development. Here's a snapshot of some of our work on the issue.
United Way Successful Connections Image

United Way Successful Connections

We developed a Marketing Blueprint to help United Way's Successful Connections reach expectant parents with information to help their babies get a healthy start. A key element of the Blueprint called for selling this program first to health care professionals: a very important internal audience.

Getting this internal buy-in helped ensure better external communications for the ultimate audience. This bilingual poster is

part of the campaign that reaches mothers when they're a captive audience—the exam room.
Extreme Berries To Go Packaging Image

Extreme Berries To Go Packaging

Berrie Crush was very weak and in danger of being dropped entirely by many retailers. The problem: consumers thought of it as a flavor "variety," and didn't understand its unique benefits. So the product was moving sluggishly.

MB Piland helped the brand with a makeover, a new name and redesigned packaging, treating the box as a "billboard" for benefits and product attributes so it would literally leap off the shelves.

Then we added sales support and dealer promotions. The result: a brand with new life!

Midland Care Thrive Commercial

Midland Care offers hospice care, home health and other elder care services in northeast Kansas. We've boosted region's oldest nonprofit's presence with a multimedia campaign that overcomes age, race and gender and focuses in on what matters most: the love and warm memories of living as a family.

A video short for GO Topeka to promote alternative energy produced by MB Piland Advertising + Marketing.

Cable operators are innovators that have been instrumental in bringing entertainment and technology to remote areas of Kansas since the 1950s. While some people may think about cable in terms of television, it's much more than that.

Kristen and I kept track of our followers on Facebook and competed locally with other florists in our community to make our business thrive. Also updating our website was very beneficial.

Kristen was very efficient, I did some of the legwork ahead of time, so that she had minimal time to spend unless we had a big project such as the website
