I am the founder of the social impact platform, Causeartist. Causeartist is an online content platform that focuses on helping people discover more ethical ways to shop and live a more impact lifestyle.

Being a solo founder, its very difficult to do everything really well, some things will just always fall through the cracks, but I new SEO and Online Marketing was an investment I wanted to make. I was referred to MassConvert by a friend a few years ago. We wanted to focus on creating evergreen content that would drive in users and eventually sales. The MassConvert team did an extensive audit of the website and readership flow and email journey. I thought I was doing a good job, but MassConvert opened up an entire new world of possibilities to customize engagement and convert on our readership.

The first goal was an overall internal audit of our SEO, from both a domain authority figure and for certain keywords. The second goal of this project was to create long form SEO content that would attract readers in our niche, then convert them to email capture over the long term. The third goal was to create an ongoing Google Ads campaign for that evergreen content that we produced.

I was introduced to Nick (Founder, MassConvert) a few years ago by a friend of mine in Austin, TX. My friend had been working with MassConvert for a few months and told me I should talk with Nick, because he knew he could help me grow my audience in some areas where I was lacking.

I had worked with tons of companies and freelancers before, and had been burned a few times by pouring money down the drain with nothing to show for it. My friend assured me MassConvert could help, so a couple weeks later I met with Nick in Austin and the rest is history.

Me and Nick met in Austin and started talking about the company and some of my goals for the next few years. We chatted for a few hours and really got to understand his philosophy and background. After that we decided to take baby steps in working together. First we did an audit of the existing website and blog posts. The goal was to look at domain authority, site speed, and current SEO positives and negatives. After the initial review Nick and his team create a massive report and spreadsheet highlighting the successes we had so far, but also highlighting the cracks that needed fixing that would enhance our entire business and website.

This was a huge asset right out of the gate. To get to look at your website and content from lens like this was jaw-dropping. We could see where we were succeeding and failing. This was a huge help for then beginning to decide what content and pages to focus on that would drive more users and revenue over the long term.

We took a deep dive into this and started to focus on our top ten posts and pages with the most potential and began optimizing. After the optimization process was completed, we looked into what we thought our top 3 pages were and starting to create a PPC ad campaign to drive leads into the funnels. This is where MassConvert really shines. There experience with the Google Ad platform was impressive. It completely changed the way we looked at everything we were doing. Another optimization session took place. Building a successful campaigns takes the right copy optimization. Taking the time up front to do this can be tedious, but it saves a ton of money in the long term is what MassConvert taught us.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Before our work with MassConvert we were ranking on the first page of Google for about 15% of our sectors keywords. We were capturing around 5% of emails coming to our site to visit our content. Our page speed was horrible and our bounce rates were extremely high.

After working for months with the MassConvert teams everything went up. We started ranking on the first page of Google for over 65% of our keywords. Our email capture rate went from 5% to nearly 20%, and our site speed went from an F to a B. Bounce rates went down by over 50% and our traffic went up over 30%. It was a game changer for our company. It set us up for long term success. That was the one thing I stressed the entire time. We wanted to do things that would benefit us for years to come not just weeks or months.

Our meetings and discussions were super efficient and wasted no time getting to the meat of the session. Updates were given and new goals were set. The tech stack that MassConvert uses for project management and discussions was amazing.

The efficiency of the work. Every single project update and timeline was delivered without hesitation. It was amazing to see how efficient and how much I felt prioritized during our business relationship.

With his help, I was able to increase revenue up to 287% for one client, and 170% for another. He taught me the best process for google text ads and how to read and edit the data to fit my clients' needs.

The office garnered many new patients and has sustained a high level of business. They accept 70–80 new patients a month—each one generating about $2,000 per year. This is an excellent return on our investment and has helped the office become profitable in just a few months.

MassConvert delivered everything as they promised. They have been very easy to work with, and our weekly calls are beneficial.

What challenge were you trying to address with MassConvert?

Our goal was to bring on new customers through SEO and PPC. We were getting one lead per month and wanted to increase that number to five or ten.

What was the scope of their involvement?

We established a 12-month plan for increasing sales. Much of that had to do with internet marketing, specifically SEO and PPC. We sat down with MassConvert and went through an analysis of our SEO. We hadn’t really developed an SEM [search engine marketing] campaign, so we worked with them on researching the right content keywords for our local presence.

They wrote content, performed on-site SEO, created keyword campaigns for SEM, and generated similar content for the site itself and the AdWords campaigns. We also went through A/B testing for lead-form generation. The effort was one part strategy and one part execution, over an eight-month period.

I worked directly with Nicholas Black [Founder and CMO, MassConvert] and an SEO expert from their team.

How did you come to work with MassConvert?

I’d known Nicholas Black [Founder and CMO] and his team for a while. We chose MassConvert over other options because of their professionalism. I knew that they could execute, based on their successful work for other clients. As soon as we were ready to go ahead, they were put at the top of our list.

How much have you invested with them?

The total cost of their work has been between $25,000 and $50,000, excluding the marketing spend.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with MassConvert in October 2015.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

MassConvert helped us find the right SEO strategy and built the right campaigns for achieving our lead-generation effort.

In the app development line of business, many people have ideas, but, because of budget constraints, there’s not a lot of follow-through. Building software is very expensive, so we have to generate more leads in order to be successful. Out of one hundred leads, only three or four will actually be projects we want to take on. Going from one or two leads per month to five or ten has significantly increased our yield flow.

We have been able to increase sales by about $150,000 per year after subtracting the $25,000 to $50,000 investment in MassConvert’s services, plus ad spend. We’re generating three or four times our investment.

How did MassConvert perform from a project management standpoint?

They’ve exceeded our expectations. They’ve grown as a business since we’ve worked with them.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They’re great when it comes to working with small businesses and people who are less confident when it comes to marketing. They know their trade and are good marketers. They identified exactly what we were looking for and worked on it. We focus on web development, and they were able to deliver that.

Whenever our customers need marketing services, MassConvert is the first name I mention. They’re simply good at what they do.

No. I’m a results-oriented person, so when I get the results I want, I’m happy. They’ve provided great communication, they’re a solid team, and they know what they’re doing.
