Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

Mappitall team helped us meet our deadlines. As a start up, we couldn't always hire on time the very specialist resource required for our company hence we augmented our team through Mappitall. I found Mappitall deliverables timely and accurate. Their expertise genuinely helps us meet our customer's demands.

Describe their project management style, including communication tools and timeliness.

We worked on Agile basis with daily stand ups, Jira for sprint management and Gitlab for code storing.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

They are very seasoned and experienced. There wasn't a single problem we couldn't solve together. I would like to note they're based in Ukraine. They did stick to their commitments even in the face of a raging war - they are truly dedicated! Dealing with Mappitall has always been a great experience. I would strongly recommend them.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

Nothing in particular springs to mind.

Please describe your company and your position there.

I’m a founder and a chief strategist of the San Francisco-based think tank working on projects related to civic engagement, economic and workforce development, community building, youth education, and now COVID-19 response.

For what projects/services did your company hire Mappitall?

We needed a GIS solution for the San Francisco municipality to better manage their assets and gain deeper insights from the geographical data. Our goals were to improve the street view, parking lots in line with present regulations, drainage system structure, etc.

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

I was first intrigued with the Mappitall portfolio, which clearly reflected their expertise and was in line with what we needed. We contacted them and received an immediate reply from the Mappitall CEO, Volodymyr O. Once we jumped on a call with him, the choice of the company was a no-brainer. Their understanding of our problem and suggestion of an adequate solution to it was deciding factor to select this vendor.

Describe the project in detail and walk through the stages of the project.

The primary project deliverable was a parking web app to help users find a convenient lot, book, and track their parking time on the fly. The Mappitall team created a database with all the parking rules in the San Francisco Bay area and current restrictions related to street cleaning. The user now receives an in-app notification if their parking time is running out. We expanded the project scope once we discovered the expertise of the Mappitall team and their commitment to the project's success.

Because it was very important for us to follow all the municipality regulations and make the lives of the local community easier, we’ve also requested them to develop an interactive map to plan and monitor the street cleaning routes and schedules. Earlier the local government relied only on paper maps and schemes; but with the new web app developed by Mappitall, they could choose which streets have to be cleaned at a particular day & time as well as build and visualize the cleaning routes for mechanical sweepers. The web app was built using HERE Map, Mapbox GL, and Node.js.

Our main point of contact was the Mappitall founder, but we also worked with about 3 data engineers. We keep outsourcing our work to one of them since he’s really familiar with our scope of work and delivers outstanding GIS services.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

The project was delivered 100% on budget and on time — that was our main KPI. The team fulfilled all the objectives set during the project planning phase and delivered an intuitive mapping solution in line with our requirements and the local government regulations, which was very important to us.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

Very effective. The Mappitall team would respond to our inquiries immediately and were always available for Skype calls whenever we needed them. The communication was always up to the point, and I really appreciated the respect of the team towards my time & requirements.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

We loved their engagement and customer service. Their communication was outstanding: never late for meetings, ready to draw from their past experience to suggest a better solution to the problem, keen on answering our questions anytime. I appreciate their deep understanding of the tasks and commitment to delivering superb GIS on time and within budget.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

Nothing to improve, we continue our collaboration with Mappitall on other development projects.
