The Tindall Foundation website design and development

View site: tindall.org.nz

The Tindall Foundation is a private philanthropic family foundation working throughout Aotearoa New Zealand.

TFF is helping to build a stronger, sustainable nation so that family, communities and our environment thrive now and in the future.

We worked with the team at The Tindall Foundation to architect a website

design and development solution that effectively communicated the new strategic direction of the foundation.

For many of the stakeholders, the website was the first time they were exposed to the new approach, and it was our job to ensure we communicated it in a manner that was reassuring, inspiring and commensurate with the high standard TFF has set historically.

We used this opportunity to refresh the brand, contemporising the look and feel to be reflective of the foundation’s ideals.

The previous iteration of the website was also built on WordPress, which allowed us to retain and modify years and years of content to fit the new style. Search Engine Optimisation retained!

We also helped them with:

  • Strategy
  • User Experience
  • Design
  • Development

Tom and Luke e-commerce website design and development

View website: tomandluke.com

Tom & Luke’s mission is to create healthy snack options to nourish healthy lifestyles and they engaged us to help create a new online platform to bring their mission to life.

Our solution

Tom & Luke are growing rapidly and bring on new stockists on a weekly basis and consequently they needed a platform

to help their customers find out where to purchase whilst also being easy to update.

We set up a fantastic Stockist Locator system that geolocates the user and then serves them the nearest stockists to their location. They can filter the results and then get info on a particular store as well as directions to find it from their current location all within the site!

Geolocation

Speaking of geolocation, Tom & Luke operate in different markets around the world but with differing product ranges so we built them a clever system that only shows a customer the products that are actually available in their locality.

This is the best way to manage customer expectations and therefore relieves them of the headache of customers complaining about not being able to find a particular SKU if it’s not in their country yet.

Tastings

Tom & Luke are a personality driven brand and in support of that they’re often out on location personally giving their customers tastings.

To help them communicate their tasting schedule we developed a highly functionality integrated tasting events calendar that allows their customers to search by date, location, event and keyword.

Instagram integration

We integrated Tom & Luke’s Instagram feed so that all that great content is pulled automatically into the site – it helps liven up the site, keep it looking fresh and helps convey their living brand.

  • We also helped them with:
  • E-commerce (using WooCommerce)
  • Tasting events calendar
  • WordPress content management system
  • Interactive stockist map
  • Newsletter sign up (Mailchimp)
  • Google Analytics for E-commerce

What The Fat website design and development

View website: whatthefatbook.com

The What The Fat? team are on a mission to educate the world about the health benefits of a Low-Carb, Healthy-Fat (LCHF) lifestyle. Part of this mission is ensuring their information-laden books are easily accessible all over the world.

That’s where we came in.

“Mantis Digital are really easy to work with. They

listen to what you want and then just get on with it. What The Fat? is a start up business and as such we were really concerned about the cost of building a website that had all the functionality we needed including e-commerce and automatically sending orders to our distribution warehouse. Mantis Digital delivered all of this on time and on budget. Best of all though is that they are genuinely interested in helping your business to succeed and continually look to add new capabilities that will make things better, cheaper, and faster.” - Professor Grant Schofield

Our solution

The Real Food Publishing Company initially engaged us to help them launch their first book and sell it online and from there launch their two follow up books. We designed and built a WordPress website integrated with WooCommerce to sell their products and the result has been phenomenal. The WooCommerce solution we developed included an automated integration with a third party logistics company so that the order and fulfilment process essentially runs itself.

From NZ to the world

We initially built the site to beautifully showcase the two books the team have written but also to provide a platform for them to spread their message to the world and spread that message they have!

As their books and following grew it became increasingly necessary to offer the books closer to the markets they were entering (rather than shipping globally from NZ). In order to fulfil that need we upgraded the site to facilitate automatically applied local pricing which enabled WTF? to sell their books in local currencies and open up to new markets in a much more attractive way.

We helped them with:

  • E-commerce (using WooCommerce)
  • Systems Strategy
  • Multiple localised Third Party Logistics integrations
  • Geolocated pricing and content
  • Newsletter sign up integration

Novii website design and development

View website: novii.co.nz

Seeking to be a trailblazer in light and immersive technologies, Novii helps create innovative, effective and award-winning retail and commercial spaces.

Having recently completed deep work on revamping their branding and positioning they came to us to help them bring their updated brand to life

online.

Features

  • Clean, appealing, effective design
  • Powerful product search and filtering
  • 3 sub brands, 170+ products
  • Easy and efficient content management
  • Portfolio with product hotspot integration

We worked closely with their team and their branding consultants to realise their brand online with a website that not only supports and extends the brand but also offers a powerful way to interact with the company – elegantly showcasing their wide range of products as well as their substantial and impressive body of work.

It was very important that the website made it easy for users to find the products they were looking for and we massively improved on their existing system by building a powerful search and filtering system to convey their products in an easy and efficient manner. Users can filter by brand, product type, application and mounting type and it works just as well on mobile as desktop.

They have nearly 200 products and to avoid them having to upload the extensive content for each one by hand we devised a clever content entry solution whereby we imported a spreadsheet of the content into the site as a batch. This meant they were able to work from a spreadsheet and get it all ready before we uploaded it all at once programmatically; much more efficient!

We designed and built Novii a portfolio section that enabled them to show off their work in a beautiful way that also seamlessly related it to their product range. Each portfolio item has an interactive product hotspot map over the main image that shows the visitor which products are used in the scene. This is all easily content manageable by Novii and they’re able to update it themselves whenever they need to.

We peppered the site with little bits of interactivity and delight – a little bit of movement here, a snippet of video there, all done with speed and responsiveness in mind.

Their new site is a stunning rendition of their new brand and artfully marries the aesthetic with the functional.

We also helped them with:

  • Website design
  • Website development
  • Website information hierarchy
  • Website user experience analysis
  • Website analytics
  • Website hosting and maintenance
  • Ongoing website support

Pure Advantage website design and development

View website: pureadvantage.org

“Mantis Digital live in the future. They are savvy, creative, technical professionals who love being presented with a challenge and coming up with innovative solutions to improve business connectivity and performance. They are collaborative and bring energy and enthusiasm to strategy sessions.” - Simon Millar, CEO

Pure

Advantage is a registered charity led by business leaders and supported by a collective of researchers and writers who investigate and promote opportunities for New Zealand to fulfil its massive potential in green growth.

Pure Advantage engaged us to help collaboratively craft a way to bring the whitepaper to life, to make it more accessible and digitally engaging. White Papers have historically been hard copy documents that, whilst packed with important content, often fall on deaf ears online.

We created a storyform child site for the Pure Advantage website, allowing us to create compelling information architecture outside of the constraints of the general content site. This allowed us to create an immersive experience as the content delved into the optionality of different carbon futures for New Zealand.

We worked with New Zealand Story to curate a imagery portfolio that captures New Zealand’s Pure Advantage, and created an eco-system of interconnected commentary from some of New Zealand’s leading thought leaders in the space. Throughout the process we looked to assess the project’s performance, as the real time analysis was an opportunity most White Paper authors simply don’t have access to. The project resulted in actionable insights on quantified data, an invaluable tool for future planning and research production.

Loading Docs website design and development

View website: loadingdocs.net

Loading Docs is a unique initiative that produces short documentaries that captivate and inspire audiences locally and internationally, while developing and promoting New Zealand filmmaking talent.

“Having Mantis Digital on board with Loading Docs as our WordPress integration specialists has been a seamless and very

positive process. They simultaneously extended our functionality online, brightened our online visual impact and empowered our in-house team to take ownership of our web presence. Thanks guys! You make a tricky job so easy.” - Julia Parnell, Director

Loading docs engaged us with a need to update their existing site to refresh its appearance, fix a number of functionality issues and to help them achieve greater ownership of their website and content.

We worked with their existing branding and collateral to build them a new streamlined website that revitalised the brand’s online presence, fixed a number of issues they were having (like not having a mobile optimised site) and provided extensive training and support so that they could run the site for themselves going forward.

Loading Docs wanted to support their alumni and invited industry members with special content like private videos, instructional material and PDF downloads.

In order to achieve that goal we built them a membership system that houses the members-only content in an invitation only portal. This safeguards the information from the public and allows them to easily manage their members and access.

We helped them with:

  • Website design
  • Website development
  • Website information hierarchy
  • Website user experience analysis
  • Website analytics
  • Website hosting and maintenance
  • Ongoing website support

Mohair and Possum Store website design and development

View website: mohairpossumstore.com

The Mohair & Possum Store is a family owned business with a long history in providing quality mohair, possum and merino lambswool products. They had an outdated site that was in need in of a serious overhaul and we did just that.

“The team at Mantis Digital created our new website for us. They were professional,

imaginative, prompt and above all extremely easy to communicate with. We are now using them on a monthly basis because of their great service. I highly recommend them!” - Teresa Green, General Manager

The Mohair & Possum Store came to us with two very old, non responsive websites for two separate brands. The old sites were low on functionality and design aesthetic but high on historical Google juice. Our challenge was to merge the two brands together, in order to minimise costs and maximise revenue, while attempting to retain and improve upon the substantial historical organic ranking the sites had developed.

We designed and built a completely new website to house their hundreds of SKUs that offered not only superior design and functionality but also elegantly handled the SEO transition.

Their new site not only looks amazing but is also brimming with e-commerce functionality and insight yielding analytics tools all of which has resulted in a more than 1500% return on their investment!

Vivo Campervans website design and development

View website: vivocampervans.co.nz

Vivo Campervans is a family owned business who have recently entered the high end campervan rental industry.

They came to us with an existing website that unfortunately didn’t inspire consumer confidence and had functional issues that meant users couldn’t book with it.

We worked with them to design and build a new

website from scratch, ensuring that it not only gave customers confidence in renting from them but also actually enabled them to take bookings.

Their new website is now much more functional than their old one and it’s instrumental in how they make sales and run their business. We built in a powerful booking engine that allows users to easily rent campervans across date ranges with the ability to choose from added extras. It also automates a lot of the communication (booking confirmations etc) and saves Vivo a lot of time on administration whilst also giving them reporting on visibility on sales and inventory usage.

Now that their website not only looks a lot better but offers a pleasing user experience their sales have dramatically taken off, admin time has gone down their business is in a much better place all round.

We also helped them with:

  • Booking functionality
  • eWAY integration
  • Multiple products (Campervan types)
  • Product add-on functionality
  • Calendar dashboard
  • SEO support
  • High quality imagery

CFMA website design and development

View site: cfma.co.nz

Clark Fortune McDonald is a well respected surveying, planning and engineering company that has been around in one form or other since 1898.

Whilst their website wasn’t quite that old, it was getting on its years and they came to us for some much needed digital rejuvenation.

We worked closely with CFMA to rethink, redesign and rebuild

their website from the ground up – not only bringing it up to modern standards but also providing a platform for them to build on into the future.

Their new website artfully blends clever web design and development with a powerful content management system (WordPress) that empowers them to control the website themselves and ensure it continues to work for them. The website does a great job of elegantly conveying their services, introducing their substantial team and showing off their impressive body of work.

Lily & Louis website design and development

View site: lilyandlouis.com

Lily & Louis are forward-thinking creative PR specialists and the driving force behind fresh and exciting public engagement campaigns for some of New Zealand’s most high-profile brands.

The only thing holding Lily & Louis back was a clunky, difficult to manage website.

The best solution for this tired website was a

full rebuild, so we could properly showcase the dynamic brand of Lily & Louis and develop systems that empowered them to take the reins on their own website management going forward.

We took the time to get to know the company so we could ensure these creatives had a digital platform worthy of the excellent creative work they do every day. We took their simple one-page website and built a nine-page platform on WordPress, full of useful information about their services; this greatly improved their Search Engine Optimisation.

Visitors are now drawn in by several appealing visual elements as soon as they enter the site: we used an exciting home page video to convey the ethos of the company, and, given the success and engagement Lily & Louis has on Instagram, we capitalised on that by integrating their feed.

We then created a comprehensive portfolio management system. On top of the 98 case studies we launched with, Lily & Louis can now easily keep their portfolio fresh and relevant as they take on new projects.

We are proud to have worked alongside Lily & Louis to build a site that showcases an immense portfolio while conveying the dynamic nature and expertise of this creative PR agency.

Diversity Consulting website

Director, Bev Cassidy-Makenzie approached us needing a new website to beautifully and simply present their services, goals and achievements. And we delivered just that!

“I had worked with Mantis as a supplier before in a previous organisation so reached out to them again as a provider for this service, as

someone who I knew I could trust to get the job done.”

Our Solution

An interview with Diversity Consulting CEO, Bev Cassidy-Makenzie

Partnering with Diversity Consulting alongside their selected Brand Strategist (nicolemerrie.com), we set out to achieve a WordPress website that would not only increase their presence online but also attract clients and maintain ongoing working relationships.

Juggling new business pressures, Bev needed a partner who she could trust. With a previous working relationship, Diversity Consulting knew that they could rely on our fast and effective decision making and that we could fully manage the website build. With a clear brief and key objectives, we set out to design a beautiful website to suit her new brand and drive exceptional results.

Once the website had been live for a while, we checked in with her to talk about her experience:

How did you find the workflow and communications between the two teams?

“The workflow between our teams was very effective, and you were very responsive. The ease of communication came from having a small enough team to care about the details and be able to action our requirements.”

Managing your own business, and juggling priorities can be time consuming. How did you feel that you were looked after, while still having input in the design and build of your new website?

“Your knowledge and experience was really impressive and helpful when you are wanting to focus on your business and all the compliance issues I already have to deal with.

So having people that already know their stuff, take those issues away from you, made all the difference, and be able to do this in a timely manner was really ideal in an environment where most would assign you a job number and ask you to wait. As a small business and a Consultant – time is money – and that’s just not an option.”

An effective online presence is extremely important for a business like yours. How happy are you with the final result?

“Of my 5 largest clients – 4 of them came as Website Enquiries. 42% of people find my website via Google.

You can look at my website and see for yourself, it’s impressive. Clean and modern.”

BACKGROUND

Please describe your company and your position there.

We are a Consultancy business that offers advisory services to businesses in the public and private sectors, along with education and training.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

For what projects/services did your company hire Mantis Digital?

To design and develop our website. Provide options for available templates and insert all content we provided.

What were your goals for this project?

To have an easily navigated website, with aesthetic appeal, and good SEO.

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor?

I had worked with Mantis as a supplier before in a previous organisation so reached out to them again as a provider for this service, as someone who I knew I could trust to get the job done.

Describe the project in detail.

I had engaged a Brand Strategist to work with me, so they also worked with Mantis and provided guidance to ensure my brand guidelines were followed.

The project entailed a multi page website with imagery supplied in high resolution, however some had to purchased as stock images and resized.

The subscription to our e-newsletter was a pop-up that was added at the conclusion of the project to use as part of the EDM's and drive visitation back to the website.

What was the team composition?

I initially spoke to Garth and was later assigned a project manager. And once into maintenance stage, I now have an account manager.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

I have only just started my Google Analytics to measure my responses. But I do know that of my 5 largest clients - 4 of them came as Website Enquiries. 42% of people find my website via Google. And I have started to use an EDM to drive visitation.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

The workflow between our teams was very effective, and they were very responsive. The ease of communication came from having a small enough team to care about the details and be able to action our requirements. We also had a couple of regular meetings.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

Their knowledge and experience was really impressive and helpful when you are wanting to focus on your business and all the compliance issues you already have to deal with.

So having people that already know their stuff, take those issues away from you, made all the difference, and be able to do this in a timely manner was really ideal in an environment where most would assign you a job number and ask you to wait. As a small business and a Consultant - time is money - and that's just not an option.

Are there any areas for improvement?

We can all improve, and do better each time, but the important thing is that we learn. I have learnt so much from my failures, and that's what makes me a good Consultant.

I'm guessing Mantis have had some challenges on their business journey - I didn't experience them, but for them to address all my challenges they had to have experienced them before - and for that I'm grateful.
