We brought on Makkpress as they were recommended after learning of the challenges we were facing with advanced solutions required by our customers. We explained the situation and let Makkpress push ahead and create weather mapping tools for our contractor customers and a full magento ecommerce re-deployment for an exclusive customer.
What were your goals for this project?
For the first it was create high-end products images and presentation, boost user experience and checkouts and increase orders from a dead stall to consistently active. For the second it was find out the data sources to create the mapping tool for the contractors and then to use targeted SEO to get it in front of them ASAP. Once found, they were to wire things up and get it going.
SOLUTION
How did you select this vendor?
Came through to us by referral as they know we do not hire developers based on solicitation. We heard it rumored that they were very good; just didn't know why they were so good and it was because they take this whatever it is treat it as if its a new and unique problem because that is exactly what it is to use the customer.
Describe the project and the services they provided in detail.
Without breaking NCND agreements with the end customers, on the Magento solution, they extensively extracted all the content from the previous ecommerce platform, realigned everything and then attached it to new and highly effective imagery and sent the performance of the site through the roof.
On the contractors tool, they were able to source a direct data provider that they could then map out to the solution while working a way to make it work with standard tools like Google and Apple so anyone could access the tool and service through any device. From there they rolled out their organic optimization processes and took from us the basic layout and extended it far beyond to include social and quid pro quo placements to get it out in front of the target audiences.
What was the team composition?
We don't know the breakdown over at Makkpress but we do know that he kept adding people to the projects as needed. That is almost unheard of (although many claim that just piling on more work on others) because we never saw anyone truly burned out. Meaning, new faces no fatigue whereas we usually see same faces or less faces and more and more fatigue. At least in our experience anyway.
RESULTS & FEEDBACK
Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?
This is the part where we could boast about us and what not, but sincerely, we know how to land customers because we know where their pain factors lie. The problem for us has been what do we do when their problem is so unique we just don't have the manpower or resources or network to address the uniqueness of it all.
For example, what do you do for an HVAC contractor that says he would like his tools to talk to his CRM? Just imagine what it would mean for us to go and figure out the vendors, their tech teams and then wire it all up?! No. That is where Makkpress shines. We do what we do best, and they do that unique each per instance thing we just can't lock down on.
How was project management arranged and how effective was it?
Like any other project pushed through Makkpress, there is the discovery session and then the constant updates stream. Webmeeting, chat sessions, emails and more. None stop until it was all said and done.
What did you find most impressive about this company?
Like we said a couple items above here. Their ability to take a unique, non-templated problem and map out a solution is commendable.
Are there any areas for improvement?
And who doesn't? So what I would say to them and all companies out there is keep asking for feedback and tell them to not hold back. Because in the criticism and negative commentary is the cues to improvement. For Makkpress I would say add single sourcing to your work processes as we do for our customers. With one knowledge base to follow for procedures, everything gets done even faster.
