BACKGROUND

We’re a nonprofit organization called Funding America Through Entertainment. Launched in August 2012, we specialize in facilitating relationships between corporations, Feeding America food banks and entertainers. We work with touring bands and other entertainers to set up a way of collecting donations at their shows.

What are your role and responsibilities?

I am the founder and executive director.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What was your goal for working with Lucid Crew Web Design?

We needed someone to provide all of our Web and IT [information technology] needs.

SOLUTION

Please describe the scope of their work.

They developed our website for us. They made it easy for a non-tech person like me to operate and update the site and manage the video functions and the graphics. The linkage they set up with other social media tools makes it easy to feed everything we do back through the site and keep traffic coming to our site. I’ve had several other food banks calling me and asking about our site. I understand that our website was ranked in the top five nonprofit websites nationally for functionality and design for several years in a row.

What was your process for selecting Lucid Crew Web Design?

I had worked with one of their principles since 1999, and there was never an IT question he couldn’t answer or, in doing so, suggest a better route. When we needed to set up our current website, I developed an RFP [request for proposal] and suggested that Lucid Crew submit a proposal. We got several proposals similar to the one they submitted, but Lucid Crew was able to provide more functionality for less money than the others.

Can you provide a ballpark dollar figure for the size of the work that they’ve done for you?

We’ve spent between $8,000 and $10,000 with Lucid Crew

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Do you have any statistics or metrics to track improvement from the project?

The online food drive module increased our donations by about 12 percent, which is significant for us. Their donation module grew our online donations by about 75 percent. I get calls and emails all the time about how responsive our website is.

Is there anything unique about Lucid Crew Web Design that really makes them stand out, compared to other companies?

I think it’s their capacity for creativity and innovation. They have both the design capability and the people needed to develop a site that’s going to be fresh and appealing as well as highly functional. Everybody at Lucid Crew was willing to work hand-in-glove with us. I’ve never had any issues getting in touch with them, and they always follow up. They’re also very reasonably priced. When you operate on a budget, and you’re trying to accomplish a mission, you need both rapid response and high functionality, and you need it done right the first time. This was always the case with Lucid Crew.

What advice would you give to future prospective clients of Lucid Crew Web Design?

Take a careful look at their designs. They do outstanding graphic design work and can make a client’s site stand apart so it’s aesthetically pleasing. Also, don’t be afraid to explore their capacity for the back-end, because their service is great.

Looking back on the work so far, is there any area that you think they could improve upon or something that you might do differently?

One or two times there was a bit of a problem in their understanding of what we were trying to get across concerning a needed fix, but that happens in every business.
