My company is eSky Group, a travel agency. We help our customers organize their trips by arranging their flights, reserving their hotels, and proposing insurance coverage. Within our company, we have an IT department that takes care of our entire IT system. Although we don't rely a lot on external providers, we have a big IT department of around 170 developers. Part of that team is a group that comes from Lowgular to work for us.

I'm a team leader and software developer, so I manage a team of 10 developers. Two of those developers come from Lowgular.

What challenge were you trying to address with Lowgular?

Around three years ago, we decided to incorporate members of Lowgular into our team because we wanted to improve our software. We had some problems with our frontend applications, so we weren't sure if we were following a good direction as to how we were developing our apps at the time. Therefore, we decided to hire Lowgular.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Initially, we presented all the issues we were facing to Lowgular, and they proposed providing us with some of their strong developers. Throughout this process, we had a lot of meetings with the owner, during which we provided him with our code base and our entire IT structure. We shared details about how our teams were divided and how our company was working. We gave them a lot of context and revealed our secrets before we started cooperating.

Lowgular's developers came in to implement some software architecture. Still, they also helped improve our developers by providing advice for our meetings and workshops. Since then, we've kept incorporating more developers from Lowgular to actively work with us year after year.

Currently, Lowgular's developers are working with us as if they were internal developers, actively developing new features to deliver quality capabilities to our customers.

What is the team composition?

Around 15–25 developers from Lowgular are working with us.

How did you come to work with Lowgular?

One of our ex-employees started Lowgular. She later reached out to us to see if we needed some help.

How much have you invested with them?

Although I don't want to share the exact amount, I can say that we pay Lowgular a monthly fee for each developer, and they handle the payroll on their end.

What is the status of this engagement?

We began working with them around June 2021, and our engagement is ongoing. Lowgular's developers are actively working with us, and we don't plan to end our cooperation.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Lowgular has great developers and can provide them to us whenever we need them. Thanks to them, the business value generated by what we deploy with our developers has remained constant. Due to the nature of our project, we're at serious risk that, as long as our project exists, the speed of delivery will tend to be lower over time. Although we would like the delivery speed to be higher, Lowgular has helped us maintain a constant delivery speed, which is important for our business.

How did Lowgular perform from a project management standpoint?

Whenever I need more developers, I make a request to Lowgular, and they deliver what I need — we've never had a problem with that.

Are there any employees from the service provider's team that you would like to give a shout-out to in this review?

I would like to give a shout-out to Tomasz (Angular Architect). He has been my main developer and has provided my team with some great tips. He involves my team in many areas, from developing code to implementing great structures. He also teaches them why some actions can improve the product or make it worse in the long run. He's very conscious about his work, which allows me, as a leader, not to have to worry about my team.

What did you find most impressive about them?

We have an internal hiring process in place whenever we want to hire developers directly from the market. In comparison to our process, onboarding developers from Lowgular is a much better quality process.

Are there any areas they could improve?

There's nothing Lowgular could improve on. When I initially worked with Lowgular as a big-scale cooperation between companies, everything was good. Now that I bring Lowgular's developers directly to work with my team, ensuring that everything is good is partially my responsibility. Therefore, I always tell them if they need to improve something.

Do you have any advice for future clients of theirs?

Define the projects you need to solve and ensure those problems are related to frontend development — that's Lowgular's specialty. Although they have very good developers at different levels, if you want to get the best service from Lowgular, be sure to hire at least one developer at the higher price that they offer.

One of their developers needs to lead the others, so a senior developer from their team will guide the medium and junior developers, making them improve. A senior developer would also provide direction on how to create the entire system and infrastructure.

Every two weeks we had a demo of the application and we used Jira to measure the progress. The key success was releasing the ready app to the clients.
