Once the project started, they reached out numerous times to make sure they brought my vision to life. They were very detailed oriented when it came to the whole re-design and helped every step of the way by making recommendations.

There was a project manager that took the lead, Stephanie, and then her team took it upon themselves to piece the website together with a design team that includes two team members.

Within a few months, the new website began driving more traffic to our company and immediately we saw more inquiries and a higher volume of direct messages. Lovage Inc’s project management is very good. The web development portion was very structured and organized, and they didn’t miss any deadlines. We’ve used Google Suite’s various products to collaborate, and we typically communicate via Zoom and email. During development, we also shared a document back and forth, where we could leave notes.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Lovage Inc’s organization and effectiveness in getting things done are impressive. They’re very efficient and do their work quickly. Additionally, their processes are very standardized, which has helped move things along very quickly.

Lately, I was getting more and better work, so I decided to have a web development company create a more professional site for me.

Lovage Inc helped me develop a site for my company. Initially, we talked about how the site should be organized, what the work categories were, and what type of content I had. Then, they broke the project down into different tasks, such as developing parts of the project that needed writing and others that needed to be accumulated.

Although Lovage Inc typically uses Wix to create sites, they wanted to try a new platform this time, which I believe was Editor X. Once we were over the discovery phase, they provided me with different templates pertaining to this platform to have something to start the design process from. Then, we picked one template and figured out how to customize it; it was a collaborative process.

After the design phase, Lovage Inc started developing the site. Throughout this process, they asked me a lot of questions and suggested various features and content additions.

We were looking to expand throughout the nation, so we needed our website to be user-friendly, clear, professional, and polished. To achieve that, we hired Lovage.

What was the scope of their involvement?

We needed to accomplish a lot in the beginning. When we started the project, Lovage went through every single class we had. They studied what we offered and what parents needed to do when they went to our website. The team looked at some other well-made websites, though they had the intuition on what we needed for our website. After that, they built the site on Wix. 

Our goal was to streamline the process to one pathway; previously, we had a billion pathways to get to the same answer, confusing everyone. The team worked on the descriptions, information, and staff photos on the website. After they organized that pathway, they worked on the site’s visuals and colors. From there, we began tweaking everything to make it nicer and cleaner. They also worked on some of our SEO needs.

We worked with Stephanie (Founder) and a production manager who served as the liaison between us and their team. Ryan (Web Design & Tech Lead) served as the software engineer and website builder.

Our founder inquired about a few Wix website builders to see how we could get the project going. Then, he found Lovage. Our founder did a Zoom call with their team, and Stephanie won him over. She was great to work with, professional, and honest. We were happy with that, so we hired Lovage for this project.

We received no complaints when we launched the website. Moreover, my manager didn’t say anything about it, which was a good sign. People also knew where they were going and what was happening as they navigated through the website.

Lovage’s project management was great. They kept us informed throughout the project, and their resources were responsive. As a three-person team, they were highly organized; one person did one thing. For tools, we used Google Documents. To communicate, we used Zoom and phone calls. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

We had plenty of face time with the Lovage team. In fact, two of them visited one of our locations before we started the project. As a result, we saw them more as people and not as a vendor that we didn’t speak to or see, which was what I assumed would happen. Overall, we knew them as a friend.

They should get a better feel of the project before estimating the timeline or locking it into a certain amount of time.

Look at the type of project you need to do before going into the engagement with Lovage. If you want to grow a business, go big. Otherwise, invest smaller, especially if you’re only looking to tweak or update something.

We hired Lovage to modernize our outdated website to instill an impression of professionalism.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Initially, we had an introductory call with Lovage in which they explained the engagement’s process and cost. During the contract phase, we signed an agreement and an invoice for half the partnership’s total cost. Then, their team provided a schedule that outlined the steps and timeline of the engagement. The schedule also covered Lovage’s design process and what they required from us in terms of information and review system. 

In terms of documentation, Lovage requested documents related to our existing website. We also provided them with additional copy, headshots, and analytical data from our website in relation to end users. Moreover, they used a questionnaire to help them understand our business, culture, vibe, and goals. Based on those things, they gave us various options for design, style, fonts, colors, and overall website experience. Apart from those, the team also suggested having a timeline feature on the website, outlining the history of our business. They also recommended implementing a gallery view of our staff. They used Wix to do all of these. 

At present, Lovage continues to make edits to the website, although it has already gone live. The team has also set us up on Google Analytics to monitor the website’s performance. We’re still in contact with them for a year to work on cleanup issues. The team also provides us with any assistance we need throughout that timeline.

I directly work with Stephanie (Founder) and Ayme (Project Manager). We’ve also had a conversation with Erica (Creative Director). There are other people on the team, but we haven’t interacted with them yet.

Another partner at our firm met Stephanie through a networking event. Signing them on was an appealing proposition because we knew we could have an updated website within 30 days. For context, we’d been procrastinating about this project for over a year when we met them. 

What ultimately made us hire Lovage was their ability to understand the issues we wanted to address while updating our website. They also understood how we were trying to modernize to target a younger demographic. On top of that, their pricing was reasonable based on our research. As a result, we signed them on.

We engaged them in August 2021 and the website went live in October 2021, but the partnership is ongoing.

We’re happy with the website, and we’ve received positive feedback from our employees and clients. The site doesn’t have any bugs at all; Stephanie has worked with our outsourced IT provider to ensure that everything is transferred to the website properly and seamlessly. The team has also remedied some design aspects that our team doesn't necessarily love.

Overall, Lovage has delivered and exceeded our expectations. They’ve provided us with a more modern, easily adjustable, and easy-to-monitor website.

Their project management has been great. Their manager has a direct relationship with us, and she loops in everybody at Lovage to ensure they implement what we’ve discussed. Overall, they perform well. In terms of tools, Lovage uses Google Drive tools to manage the project, including Google Meet and Gmail.

They were stellar project managers. From the first day of the engagement, Stephanie set forth a detailed 30-day plan that they stuck to throughout our partnership. The timeline was regimented and direct, which impressed me. We communicated via email and phone calls. For project management purposes, we shared Outlook calendars and collaborated on documents via the G-Suite.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They were incredibly organized, which helped everything run smoothly. I didn’t believe that they could complete the project in 30 days, but they delivered the site as planned. The major snowstorm in Texas in March didn’t even slow them down.

I can’t think of anything.

Follow the rules they set forth. They’ll let you know exactly what you need to get done for them, so if you meet their needs you’ll end up with a really great website.

I was a fractional CEO of a startup that represents a product from Israel that purifies air in a room. Our product was very effective in killing the COVID-19 virus in less than 10 minutes. We were bringing that product into the US and our goal was to create an organization that can be an integrator and sales arm for that company. I also have a background in branding, so I ran the branding for that company with some folks I worked with in New York.

Lovage executed the visual and technical aspects of website development, and they gave us a backend that we could use to make changes going forward. Initially, we talked about the brand positioning of the organization and the kind of experience we wanted to put on the website. We then provided them with content and graphics, and they developed it through Wix, which was what they normally used.

I worked with a total of four people, but I primarily talked to Stephanie (CEO).

I met Stephanie through mutual friends. However, what impressed me was their ability to provide a very high-end website for a fraction of the cost that others would normally pay.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

In terms of the process, we didn’t miss a single deadline and they delivered every single time. They worked really well with us to lay out a very logical process stepwise, and delivered the final output earlier than expected. In terms of the quality, we liked that they gave us a nice surprise. The splash of the first page was not really something that we asked for, but it was something beautiful — it sets the website apart and it gave gives a nice introduction to the organization.

I couldn't say enough nice things about the quality. The graphics and the layouts were very nice, modern, and up-to-date — it looked like a $50,000 website.

How did Lovage Inc perform from a project management standpoint?

Lovage Inc performed really well. Sometimes, having a client who had experience in branding and web design would get in the way of the process. However, we had a really good dialogue. We let them do their job and at the same time, they leaned on us for the right kind of feedback. The project was done seamlessly, and from a project management standpoint, they stayed on top of every step — it was handled very professionally and pleasantly.

What did you find most impressive about them?

It’s a cliché, but it was the bang for the buck. This startup didn’t have $50,000 to spend on a website, but it competed with organizations that did. We felt like if we looked at the five websites of our five closest competitors, none of them would've been as good as the product that we ended up with in terms of quality.

If we had somebody who positioned themselves as being able to lay something out at a low cost and quick fashion, we would've probably got a very pedestrian website. However, Lovage actually had creative and visual chops, which we received as part of the deal — and that was pretty rare at that price point. We definitely got way more than we paid for.

Are there any areas they could improve?

Lovage already shared a new kind of process with us, which they shortened even more. However, there was nothing they could improve on. If there was ever a slowdown, it was almost always on our end and about providing the content in a way that our organization was comfortable with. We had not had a website go that smoothly before.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

My advice would be to trust them and let them do their job. They know what they’re doing and they have a process of doing it — don’t micromanage them. Rather than superimposing something else and muddying the waters, I'd recommend you let them work at their pace, so they can bring you along to get the best out of you. Part of their secret sauce is that they really work fast, yet the quality remains high.

We hired them to do web design.

What was the scope of their involvement?

The Lovage team designed and developed our Wix website. They took assets from our old site and created the new platform from scratch.

Additionally, they created a lot of moving graphics on the site because technology companies like us require a lot of good visuals. The main purpose was to showcase our company and work.

Our main point of contact was Stephanie (CEO).

How did you come to work with Lovage Inc?

We looked at different sites and checked who created them. What convinced us to go with Lovage was their responsiveness and their amazing outputs.

How much have you invested with them?

We spent less than $10,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We worked with Lovage from June–August 2020.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

Lovage perfectly incorporated all of our needed visuals on the site. They were good at putting everything together and ensured all the pieces fit. The team also hit our expectations on the web design part. 

Overall, Lovage was a great team to work with, and because of their wonderful efforts, we received positive feedback from our partners.

How did Lovage Inc perform from a project management standpoint?

Lovage was very organized and timely. We communicated with them through email. They also gave frequent updates and were excellent all-around.  

What did you find most impressive about them?

They were good at making suggestions from a marketing standpoint. Some of the suggestions they shared were helpful, and we appreciated that. I already recommended them to a couple of people, and  I’d highly recommend them to prospective clients. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, I don’t think they have any areas to improve. 

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

You’re in great hands if you partner with Lovage. They know what they’re doing, and they excel at communicating. I’m pretty sure they can manage anything.
