“They can provide a lot of insights and input into the creative process.”

A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I'm the creative director of a video production agency based in Southend, England, and we make video content for a wide range of clients from large financial services companies and charities all the way down to owner-run businesses. We've been doing this in various shapes and forms for about 20 years.
What challenge were you trying to address with The Little Wild Ones?
We were looking for somebody who could help us take care of 2D and 3D animation so that we could offer a broader range of services to our client base. We had a couple of specific jobs which needed skills that we didn’t have within our company, and that's why we went to Kevin (Animation Director) and The Little Wild Ones.
What was the scope of their involvement?
The Little Wild Ones can work with a very tight brief from us, in which case they’ll produce the animation content that we need quickly. They’ll go right from the illustration phase and ruffing out animatics to the full delivery of the final edit.
Otherwise, we approach them much earlier in the project. They then offer a lot more creative input into the animation style or the potential routes that the content can take. Then, they’ll take it from the initial sketch all the way to the final deliverable.
We’re on our fourth project now, and every project is fairly short — it usually just takes under a week. One of the projects we’ve done was for the Royal College of Midwives, which is a big public sector body in the UK.
What is the team composition?
I primarily have contact with only one person.
How did you come to work with The Little Wild Ones?
We put out a call on social media for a range of businesses that could support our needs. Around 25 people had come forward, and we worked through everyone. We looked at the kind of work they’ve done in the past and had conversations with a few of them. In the end, Kevin and The Little Wild Ones seemed to be the best fit.
How much have you invested with them?
So far, we’ve spent around £10,000 (approximately $7,000 USD).
What is the status of this engagement?
We started working with them in May 2020, and the partnership is ongoing.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
Kevin's great, and everyone has been impressed with the quality of the work that The Little Wild Ones produce. They were extremely happy.
We've been producing quite a lot of content in fairly new circumstances over the last year. As a result, people have come to us with materials that haven’t been of the highest quality. However, they've all been very impressed by what we've managed to create out of those materials. Much of the positive results are due to the graphics and animation that the team has done.
How did The Little Wild Ones perform from a project management standpoint?
They’ve been rock-solid. We've had a couple of projects that have been quite challenging for their time frame, and yet The Little Wild Ones has never been late — they always deliver on time. Their communication skills are really good as well; they're easy people to pick up the phone to.
What did you find most impressive about them?
Since they have quite a broad range of experience in terms of who they work for and the styles of what they've done, they can provide a lot of insights and input into the creative process. We can go to them and say that we want to do something, and they’ll come back with a range of ideas and approaches.
They also work well with time and budget constraints. If we say we only have a few days to a week to turn a piece around, they come back with a solution that fits those parameters. In other words, they’re realistic about what can be produced. They’re hardworking and do the best they can.
Moreover, they have quite a heavy agency background and a lot of experience in high-end broadcast. They come to the projects with that approach, which is great because it means we’re receiving high-quality work.
Are there any areas they could improve?
No, there aren’t any. So far, I haven’t experienced anything that hasn’t come up to the standards that I’m hoping for in terms of services. They provide quality work.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Get them engaged early in the project. Engage them right at the briefing stage if that’s possible, and make sure that they’re okay with the project timeline.
On top of that, you should ensure that the animators and graphic designers are onboard — this is my number one tip. If you do this, they get the best possible chance to give creative input to the project. Make sure that they also get a feel of the workflow. This can be really helpful in ensuring the project is delivered in a timely and cost-effective way.
