BACKGROUND
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the CTO of a private equity firm catering to B2B software companies.
OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE
What challenge were you trying to address with Lionix?
We acquired a software product and wanted to put a team together to support it and handle the handover of the software to our internal team.
SOLUTION
What was the scope of their involvement?
Lionix provides us with custom software development support. They’re helping us code and make key improvements to an existing software that functions as a database backup tool and is built with Laravel. Other key technologies involved in development are Rancher, Digital Ocean, Jenkins, Grafana, Zabbix, Amazon SQS, and Amazon ECS.
What is the team composition?
We work with about 5–6 people from their side, including a principal and senior software engineer, a project manager, and a QA specialist.
How did you come to work with Lionix?
We found them through Google research. We were specifically looking for development companies based in Armenia. We received multiple bids from different vendors and conducted interviews with them. Eventually, we decided to go with Lionix based on communication and also because they had a very active open-source component to their business.
How much have you invested with them?
We’ve spent between $20,000–$40,000.
What is the status of this engagement?
We started working together in January 2022, and our collaboration is still ongoing.
RESULTS & FEEDBACK
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
They deliver high-quality work. They’ve also done a really good job of navigating through our project. For instance, whenever we have an urgent request from a customer, their team understands the situation and handles it promptly on their own — we don’t need to intervene.
How did Lionix perform from a project management standpoint?
They always stay within budget, and they do what they say they’re going to do in a timely manner. Whenever there might be a delay, their team informs us in advance and explains the reason for it.
We use Trello and Confluence for managing tasks. For communicating, we use Slack and hold weekly meetings via Zoom.
What did you find most impressive about them?
We’ve been most impressed by how reliable their team is; we have a strong feeling of accountability with them. Their owner is also working on this project directly, which is something we greatly appreciate.
Are there any areas they could improve on?
No, we’re satisfied with their work.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
You should work the way that I work with them: have weekly meetings. They’re the type of development company that builds something with you, not for you.

BACKGROUND
Please describe your company and your position there.
I am the Head of Engineering at Diag, a lab clinic based on Saigon (Vietnam).
OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE
For what projects/services did your company hire Lionix, and what were your goals?
We want to build a new HIS (healthcare information system) as a cloud solution that will help us improve our productivity and performance in our clinic as improving our reliability and quality of our service in Saigon and help us scale up through the rest of Vietnam.
One of the main challenge is to develop this platform in the cloud as Healthcare industry is not using a lot of cloud-based solution, that means need to peer with internal VPNs, integrate parts of our systems with Apache Kafka been necessary to develop producers and consumers for multiple systems with different complexities.
Working in healthcare industry implies working with lot of laws and regulations by the goverment so the software needs also to follow different standards than the usuals. Defining and leading the frameworks and methodologies used across softwares teams, like following TDD, naming conventions, architectural constraints, etc.
SOLUTION
How did you select Lionix and what were the deciding factors?
Lionix came referenced by a CTO we know and trust and that was more than enough for us to trust them to build the solutions we need.
Describe the scope of work in detail, including the project steps, key deliverables, and technologies used.
The project is built on PHP with Laravel 7 Framework, Apache Kafka, Kubernetes in GCP and Vue.js. The scope of the project is to build a software which can be used in our full operational workflow. Since a patient walks in our clinic, the receptionist checks they in, go through all the doctor's examination rooms, doctors write their report.
Those reports needs to follow a specific regulation and format. Those reports need also to be digitally signed by doctors and again, follow very important healthcare regulations.
Our HIS needs to provide support for multiple roles/positions working with the tool, from receptionists, to doctors, to our own patients and 3rd party doctors. Provide insights, kpis. Billing to customers. Integrate with POS (point of sales) in different locations and being able to communicate with different systems using Apache Kafka.
How many people from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?
We worked with 3 backend developers, 1 frontend developer, 1 designer and 1 Devops.
RESULTS & FEEDBACK
Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?
The team was able deliver our internal releases and demo our product to multiple stakeholders. The product overall has a very good quality following the best standards.
Describe their project management style, including communication tools and timelines.
The team follows Scrum Framework in 2 weeks sprints with very clear deliverables at the end of each sprint. They adapted to our tools like jira and slack with a very good communication with the people working here.
What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?
Very good software standards. They have great versatility, working in every aspect of software development.
Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?
They do a really good job but maybe they need to improve the visibility of the work they do, that will have a greater impact of their deliverables. Maybe push to have sprint reviews and/or demo often their progress.
