My company creates custom-built, content-driven CMS websites for a wide variety of clients.

For what projects/services did your company hire Linear?

To implement a new UI/UX design for a wholesale company website specializing in food products.

What were your goals for this project?

The client's existing website was limited to displaying basic product information and taking orders by a contact form. Their wish was to develop their online business into a complete e-commerce solution, including online registration, accounts, product promotions, shopping basket, and checkout forms, wrapped in a modern design.

The client's customers, the website customers, include businesses running on tight time constraints, so a key objective emphasized by the client was ease and speed of use, prioritizing clarity and keeping the number of steps needed to complete common actions to a minimum.

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor?

We searched online and compiled a list of 20 possible design studios based on their online portfolios. Linear were competitively priced, but it was the care evident in their work and a little extra flair that won the decision.

Describe the project in detail.

After agreeing the brief, several meetings took place over Skype to clarify objectives and provide feedback, incorporating UX suggestions from Linear. A week later a working prototype was delivered.

After testing and incorporating feedback from our client and ourselves, the visual design stage commenced. Two alternative designs were delivered two weeks later, one of which was selected and rapidly developed to completion.

Linear are/were a team of two UX/UI designers.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

The website is yet to be launched, but the client is extremely happy with the UX/UI design, which is clearly ahead of the competition by a substantial margin.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

Scheduling Skype meetings was easy, and all communication was clear, concise, and professional. In fact, there was no friction at all.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

Ultimately, the end product. The project was difficult in that Linear had very little to go on, there was substantial contrast between the logo colours and product colours, and product images as supplied by manufacturers were typically low resolution.

Linear overcame hurdles to deliver a stunning design, combining modernity with a touch of nostalgia, an effect which suits the product down to the ground. UX objectives were well met with clever incorporation and clear placement of basket controls on the front end.

Are there any areas for improvement?

No, none at all.
