We selected thsi vendor based on word of mouth. We had an inital skype meeting where we were impressed by the level of knowledge and understanding of our business once ve we discussed the projects. It was made easier by the fact a lot of LiftUp employees spoke and could write excellent English.

We agreed time frames for completion of stages of work. We started with the ecommerce site, and time scales were always met. Communication was great, with regular updates. Liftup developed a unique feature for our website. It was something that hadn't been done before but they embraced the challenge and made it happen.

Across the years we worked together we worked with approximately 5 or 6 employees, depending on skill set for a particular piece of work. However, we always had one senior point of contact.

We often made changes to the sites as the business changed, or evolved and were alwasys happy with the results.

At the time we used redmine as a tool for agreeing project work. We could both see where the project was up to, what was outstanding, any questions that needed addressing etc. We had regular skype or phone calls. Always available on email.

Since the research project is still ongoing we have no shareable outcomes yet. But we were very happy about the progress we already achieved in a very short time period. I chose to work with LiftUp because I knew Marcel, the team manager. I knew that Marcel is a serious person, and I knew that if he is like that, his whole team is like that. I met the team in the first online meeting and saw that they were very creative and hardworking.

The scope of work was to create an application on Android and iOS with five 3D animations made in augmented reality, where children can see 3D scenes with Isa, Carla and Amos feeling alive, talk and laugh together, and play interactive fun minigames. The 3D experiences are enabled by scanning 5 special pages from each volume.
Project steps: I presented the team a pdf with augmented pages, how I see the interactions and then the LiftUp team came up with a timeline. They created the 3D characters, the application design, the skeleton of the application, implementing in parallel the UI and the five 3D environments. The next step was to integrate the five 3d experiences into the application, as well as the music and the voice, the dialogues and the animations. It followed the testing part and when it was finalized, The team prepared the materials for stores and online.
The book is not yet released, so I cannot talk specifically about the project results. But I can say that when I was in the testing stage, I gave the book to the children to try to play with the App, and they were delighted! The technologies used are:

And because it's all in 3D, it looks just like children's real-world surroundings. The project was finalized 20% faster than the initial project timeline by a team that covered 3D art, design and user experience, programming, and project management

For the last two years, LiftUp has provided us with web UI developers and QA engineers to help us with our product development. These resources collaborate with us to help us develop new features based on the documentation we provide them with and our requirements. In general terms, our requirements are for them to use design and development best practices while simultaneously making their work easy to understand for the rest of our team.
Our engagement is really simple; whenever we require a new resource, we contact Marcel (Co-Founder & CEO) directly and provide him with our requirements. Then, LiftUp sends us the candidates, and we assess them and onboard the resources needed in less than a week. The technologies we use for our product include ASP.NET Core for the backend and CSS and HTML for the frontend.

What challenge were you trying to address with LiftUp?
Our website and platform were built by a previous company. When we tried to develop the Beta version of the platform, we realized that there wasn’t a lot of utility behind the code that the previous company delivered.

What was the scope of their involvement?
We hired LiftUp to go again through the whole database, and they found out that a lot of the key elements that we required were missing. They ended up restructuring the database, effectively saving the code. After releasing the platform’s Beta version, LiftUp then helped us migrate it from Angular to React.
We plan to outsource the maintenance of our platform to LiftUp as well.
What is the team composition?
We currently work with 7–8 people from LiftUp, including a project manager, a tech lead, two QAs, and three senior engineers.

I’m most impressed with LiftUp’s creativity in developing solutions. We deal with a lot of APIs, aggregators, and delivery platforms with very different tech from each other, and trying to bring all of them into a single platform has proven to be quite complex.
Luckily, LiftUp was very creative in building the database — they were able to build something that would be a standard amongst all of these different technologies, which I think was the key to the success of our business.

We were able to use the product/ system earlier than expected, which was a major achievement for us. Within less than 2 months, the solution created by our partner, decreased CSV processing time by 50%, for files with up to 60 million data lines. Their team performed so well, that we decided to continue on other projects as well.

The project management was great, they were prompt in communication with any requests we had or overview of the process. They met the project deadlines, which was different from other vendors we worked with. We communicated through Skype, Jira, Paymo, and emails.
