A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m a professor at a university in the US, doing research in conservation science, also known as conservation biology. I also collaborate with large and small environmental nonprofit organizations.
What challenge were you trying to address with Lexunit?
I hired Lexunit to refactor terabytes of Twitter data I had collected to find out how people talked about environmental issues on that platform. I originally did some analysis of this data, but doing large-scale data analysis wasn’t possible for me, and I wasn’t progressing on my research.
What was the scope of their involvement?
The data I had collected from Twitter was returned as JSON format files, so Lexunit successfully helped me process and clean up that JSON data, refactoring it into a much more performant and modern database structure. Additionally, they refactored data products that I had created from the original JSON files. For instance, I had done user-by-user text analyses and run a sentiment model, but the outputs had many different formats and were stored in non-performant structures like TSV (tab-separated values) or TXT files.
In addition to refactoring the data, Lexunit created an edge list to help me perform social network analysis. That part of the project involved major open-ended research. My dataset came from over a million distinct users. Going through all of those users to create an edge list was computationally infeasible, at least with my resources. However, Lexunit came up with a very elegant solution, developing a novel software piece to define and create a social network edge list of all the pairwise interactions that met a relevant threshold.
For both parts of the project, the data refactoring and the social network analysis, Lexunit helped me perform visualizations such as data rates distribution histograms and scatterplots. Specifically for the social network part of the project, they identified different graph visualization algorithms. Then, they helped me run tests to compare them and find the best way to process the edge list and create a social network graph.
What is the team composition?
I worked with three people from Lexunit. My main point of contact was the project manager, and I also worked with a senior developer and a junior developer.
How did you come to work with Lexunit?
Lexunit was referred to me by a colleague of mine who had worked with them before. They had worked together on a similar project to mine, and my colleague had a very positive experience.
I also looked at and reached out to other firms, but I wasn’t very impressed with the other competitors. Those other companies didn’t seem as independent and reliable as Lexunit, and I didn’t know if I could trust them to be careful and do due diligence. Lexunit understood that everything they needed to do had to be very well justified, meeting the rigorous criteria of scientific research.
How much have you invested with them?
We spent around $15,000.
What is the status of this engagement?
We worked together from December 2021–March 2022.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
Lexunit did a big technical lift to enable me to do a large-scale analysis of the Twitter data I was interested in. They managed to achieve 80%–90% compression of the data, exponentially accelerating my data-processing and data-ingestion time. The result is now something that I can build on to have a research paper that I could publish.
I also really appreciated that their team thought in a very scientific and rigorous way. As a researcher, I didn’t look for a fast product; I wanted a good product that I could share with the scientific community and proudly use for my research work. Thus, I had a really high standard for what I was looking for, and they met that expectation by doing an excellent job on software development.
How did Lexunit perform from a project management standpoint?
Lexunit worked very fast, and they met the timeline they initially estimated perfectly. They executed the project very smoothly and met every deadline. Their team was very professional, and they did an excellent job communicating with me — I really enjoyed interacting with them. We had weekly Zoom calls at times that were convenient to me, which was very generous of them because we were a few time zones apart. Additionally, we communicated via Slack, and we had a shared version-control repository on GitLab.
What did you find most impressive about them?
In the academic space, we prize researchers who can act very independently. Lexunit was very professional and intellectually independent, which was impressive. They were able to operate at the highest level of rigor with speed and accuracy, and they demonstrated to be excellent technologists. Additionally, they introduced me to modern computing frameworks for using distributed computing packages — that aspect really made them stand out.
While constructing the edge list for the social network analysis, they acted very independently because my guidelines were extremely vague, and I didn’t know what was possible. That part of their service felt like a consulting type of expertise, which was great.
Finally, Lexunit’s flexible approach and due diligence were outstanding. They didn’t offer a unique solution. Instead, they were able to find the best options relevant to our challenges to find the best solution.
Are there any areas they could improve?
No, I really enjoyed working with Lexunit, and they exceeded my expectations. In fact, I’ve been recommending them to other colleagues.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Have a clear scoping document and be as engaging as possible to establish an awesome partnership. Still, they can do a fantastic job if you don’t have a clear scope.

Introduce your business and what you do there.
I was the manager of Hyundai Technology Center Hungary, a subsidy of the big Hyundai company.
What challenge were you trying to address with Lexunit?
We hired Lexunit to help us develop software for our company. We modeled the circuit breaker interruptions and asked for the help of Lexunit to solve specific problems.
What was the scope of their involvement?
We wanted to accelerate our calculation process since the human-machine interface and the overall program weren’t functioning the way we intended.
Lexunit implemented a solution where the database of the input of our finite element program could be modified in a separate program far more quickly than the original platform. They used LibreCAD for the development, a free software for Linux systems.
We defined every single aspect of the scope and identified the project in milestones according to a schedule. However, we were only able to finish the first three stages, as our team had left the company.
What is the team composition?
We mainly interacted with the CEO and software engineer.
How did you come to work with Lexunit?
We were looking for software developers and got several pitches from different companies. We chose Lexunit to lead the project because of their proven development expertise.
How much have you invested with them?
Over the course of the project, we invested about €17,000 (approximately $19,400).
What is the status of the engagement?
We worked together from August–December 2020.
What evidence can you share to demonstrate the impact of the engagement?
The purpose of this project was to accelerate certain processes in our business. Thanks to Lexunit, the work that took us a day or two to complete can now be accomplished in a couple of hours — they’ve successfully increased our efficiency, so now we have a tool to streamline our operations.
How did Lexunit perform from a project management standpoint?
We were able to communicate well with each other despite our age differences. They adhered to our initial requirements, chosen schedule, and agreed-upon milestones.
The CEO competently managed the partnership on their side, and we typically interacted through Microsoft Teams, phone, and video conferencing.
What did you find most impressive about them?
We’re impressed with their youth, experience, and deep IT knowledge. They were very understanding of our concerns, and they always came up with innovative solutions.
Are there any areas they could improve?
They handled our partnership with care and professionalism, and they consistently delivered what they promised — I have nothing to complain about.
Any advice for potential customers?
I would advise you to not hesitate in letting them know the specifics of your project. Sit down with them and agree on the terms of the work before leaving the project to them.

Please describe your company and your position there.
I'm a CIO of a Consulting Company specialized in data management.
For what projects/services did your company hire Lexunit, and what were your goals?
We aim to expand and enhance our data management platform with various machine learning tools in order to increase the efficiency of work processes, such as database analysis, data profiling, data cleansing, and data structure refactoring.
Our collaboration began with a consultation phase on possible technologies and development directions: we examined in detail which ML-based solutions would be the most suitable to optimize our client’s data management processes.
After that, we developed ML-based classification models, with which our client is able to analyze and classify tens of thousands of data sets in a matter of minutes. The additional information obtained this way our client can provide their customers with additional value.
How did you select Lexunit and what were the deciding factors?
They contacted us earlier for networking. A year later faced some tasks related to their expertise.
Describe the scope of work in detail, including the project steps, key deliverables, and technologies used.
They developed a ML-based solution to help classify some of the data our data management platform often faces. We did the requirement analysis and system design together in an agile fashion.
How many people from the Lexunit team worked with you, and what were their positions?
The were 3 people who we worked with in person. A CTO, a developer and the account manager. Other people have contributed from their side in the background.
Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?
We were able the launch desired new functionalities in time. We remained within our budget and scope.
Describe their project management style, including communication tools and timeliness.
They are agile and responsive. There were no problems with the delivery.
What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?
Responsiveness, common language.
Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?
Documentations were a bit "developer quality" and not "consulting quality". Although we did not need better than this.

I'm the Operations manager at Atlas Copco Hungary where we are producing different types of air tools for general industry.
For what projects/services did your company hire Lexunit?
For the assembly we have raw material stock in Hungary. we store them in automatic shuttle lifts. Due to our high mix production, the picking process is important for us. The challenge was the fluctuation of the demand caused deviation for the picking. And the distribution of the stored material between our lifts were not perfect as they were stored based on a "screenshot"
How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?
They contacted us and described for us what are they doing and they were also interested what are we doing. We believed that understand what are our biggest challenges and also that they can help to solve the issues. After we received a proposal, we accepted the quote
Describe the project in detail and walk through the stages of the project.
Before the project we had NDA and we provided some inputs for them to create a proper proposal and quote. As we discussed several times what will be important for we ordered the service. I dedicated a contact person from our side and we had some status meeting with the vendor. After these meetings they modified what was unclear or caused any question. The project was finished in December.
How many resources from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?
I worked with two people. Who managed our project, he was the main contact, and one other developer who worked on the application
Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?
Every day we have measured PIs which saved in an SQL database. every week we have summary report about the PIs and proposals based on the simulations
How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?
meetings were planned in time and the schedule was followed. the communication was smooth with the dedicated contact from our side as well.
What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?
They tried to understand all aspects of our problem and tried to propose the best solution, which they did.
Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?
I have no specific suggestion

Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the CTO and co-founder of JobStep. We’re a startup dedicated to helping job seekers find work more efficiently.
What challenge were you trying to address with Lexunit?
I brought on Lexunit to translate my vision, prototypes, and code into a scalable platform.
What was the scope of their involvement?
Our technology uses automation software to help job seekers apply for positions. The software maps the job seeker’s data — including their profile and work history — and uses it to fill out forms. This prevents the job seeker from filling out the same form over and over again as they apply to jobs
At the same time, the backend aggregates and scrapes for information, using third-party APIs to filter through job lists based on what the job seeker is qualified for.
Recently, we kicked off another project with them. They’re using JavaScript to build a web app that can be used as an onboarding form.
What is the team composition?
I’ve been working primarily with Adam (CTO). He also brought in one of his colleagues when he needed additional coding help. Recently, they brought David (CEO & Co-Founder) on to support our most recent project.
How did you come to work with Lexunit?
We evaluated several different providers for the project. A friend of ours had worked with Lexunit on a project in the past, and he had nothing but good things to say about them. They were excellent software developers and were very transparent and easy to communicate with. I also wanted a team that had experience with machine learning for this project. Lexunit met all of our needs.
How much have you invested with them?
So far, we’ve spent between $10,000–$50,000.
What is the status of this engagement?
The project began in December 2020 and is ongoing.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
We now have a working platform. It’s still a little rough around the edges, but it does what we want it to do. As we continue to work on the platform, we plan to test it to see how many people it can serve. Right now, we’re just happy with their work so far.
How did Lexunit perform from a project management standpoint?
Their communication is excellent. They're based in Hungary, but they speak fluent English, which makes it easy to collaborate.
We’ve been pleasantly surprised that they’ve been able to work autonomously. I don’t need to manage their team day-to-day, so I only need to meet with them twice a week. In each meeting, we set high-level requirements, and discuss implementation details, but I trust them to execute the project in full.
What did you find most impressive about them?
I’ve also been impressed by how quickly Lexunit’s team has been able to adapt to our changing business needs. When I come to them with new requirements, they make the changes within a week or so.
Are there any areas they could improve?
There have been a few cases when I know they’ve had to balance several different projects. It would be nice to know when they’re busy so we can plan around their capacity.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Come with a clear vision of what you want to build, including the technical requirements you’re looking for. Be willing it iterate and test ideas with their team.

A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I'm the CEO of Blueink Digital, a lead-generation marketplace that does marketing analytics for solar, home improvement, and insurance companies, among others.
What challenge were you trying to address with Lexunit?
We wanted to build a sophisticated database that could handle the storage, machine learning (ML) functions, and optimization of all the data that our marketplace is generating.
What was the scope of their involvement?
We’ve used Lexunit for a couple of development projects. We started off originally with developing a dashboard that communicated with our vendors. This was the database that stored all of our data, making them retrievable and queryable. It also connected a bunch of third-party services that we’ve been relying on.
In most projects, we have a pretty clear idea of what we’re trying to accomplish. Almost everything is done via AWS, and the applications are mostly coded in Python. I’ve given Lexunit access to all of our backend data, and they help shape and guide some of it. Since they’ve completed several projects with us before, we’ve also opened ourselves up a little in terms of feedback and the scoping of our projects.
Apart from development projects, we also use Lexunit for general technical help as far as connecting services and getting things up and running are concerned. Overall, we’ve relied on them like an outsourced CTO partner.
What is the team composition?
Adam (CTO) is our main point of contact, but I’ve also worked with at least two other people on-call. Behind the scenes, there are around 4–5 people working on projects in some capacity. However, everything really only goes through one main point of contact.
How did you come to work with Lexunit?
We were referred to them. One of my employees had worked with somebody who knew Lexunit and worked with them directly.
We also did our search and interviewed 6–7 development shops, including Lexunit. We ended up liking them the most. They had a competitive price and they seemed to know what they were doing. At the end of the day, we landed on them.
How much have you invested with them?
So far, we’ve invested around $60,000.
What is the status of this engagement?
We started working with them in May 2020, and they’re still working for us on projects.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
For success metrics, Lexunit gave us proposals for our first couple of projects. Within those proposals, there were hour caps, and they never exceeded those hours. In fact, they were under the hour cap a couple of times, which was nice — this wasn’t usually the case when other vendors gave us hour caps.
Since we’ve already worked on all types of projects, we’ve had all kinds of success metrics, such as checking whether they're doing what they need to do or creating something that has an effect on the system. So far, they’ve hit all of our success metrics, and they’ve been doing a good job.
How did Lexunit perform from a project management standpoint?
Lexunit’s project management is good. We have one point of contact, and we really like working with him. He’s made everything very streamlined and easy. We have weekly video calls, and we email back and forth; they’re extremely responsive.
What did you find most impressive about them?
They’re professionals, and they know what they’re doing. Lexunit gets things done on or under budget. Everything has worked well so far, and they’re very competitive in terms of pricing and the services we’re getting from them.
Are there any areas they could improve?
Their only issue right now is their growing pains. Since they have so many clients, they might be at full or even over their capacity. That’s probably because they’re doing a pretty good job so people are booking more projects with them. Overall, as they grow, the only problem is their capacity issues.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
If you have a clear idea of what you want to do, and if you can clearly define it in the scope, then you’ll be better off with Lexunit. Remember that they don’t necessarily know your business from day one, and scope creep is always an issue for anybody, including those within your organization. As a result, my biggest advice is to have a clear understanding of what you want to achieve.

A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m a cloud operations lead and product owner at an industrial technology company.
What challenge were you trying to address with Lexunit?
We partnered with Lexunit to develop a cloud-native application.
What was the scope of their involvement?
Lexunit is working on an internal web application for our company. It’s a cloud-based environment that we can utilize in our daily business; it’s also an internal application, so it’s not reachable outside of our organization.
What is the team composition?
On a daily basis, I communicate with 3–4 people. David (Co-Founder & CEO) and Adam (CTO) are my main contact points, but I’m also in contact with other developers. Adam organizes the technical aspects of the project, while David handles the general management of the partnership. They then distribute the actual work to their colleagues.
How did you come to work with Lexunit?
I had a prior working relationship with Adam in my previous company. We had a great relationship, and I was totally impressed with his work. I trusted him enough that when we got the opportunity to work on this current project, I wanted to use Lexunit.
Our company had an internal tender, so other providers also fought for the same project. In the end, it made sense for us to choose Lexunit because they had the best offer.
What is the status of this engagement?
We started working together in August 2019, and the partnership is ongoing.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
We’re satisfied with their work. While the actual software is still in development, we’ve already reached milestones — we can already use the software. It helps us a lot in our daily business, and our engineers now work more efficiently. Lexunit's job and the product itself are absolutely fine even if the development is still in progress.
How did Lexunit perform from a project management standpoint?
We had different communication channels, including direct phone calls, Slack messages, and meetings. All of Lexunit members attend regularly, they’re always on time, and they don’t cancel meetings. Accidents happen, but the overall communication has been really fine. I’m totally satisfied with our communication and daily work with them.
Are there any areas they could improve?
Lexunit is a startup, so they’re a bit small and they don’t have regular processes. As such, they don’t have standardized workflows inside the company, and organizing work with them is a bit ad hoc. They’re working pretty hard to change this. On the other hand, this trait can be beneficial since the Lexunit team can be flexible; they can move and change things quickly.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Lexunit is a really transparent company, so they want to deal with their partners as transparently as possible. In other words, if you want to build a long-term partnership with them, you need to do business in an open way and with direct communication. Lexunit is also thinking about long-term relationships, so trust should be established, and that should also be the case for you as their partners.
