While my experience with Leo9 was overwhelmingly positive, one area for potential improvement could be the initial project kickoff. A more detailed initial briefing or discovery session could have helped align expectations and goals even more closely from the outset. This would ensure that both parties are fully on the same page regarding the project's vision and objectives. However, this is a minor point, and overall, their performance was exceptional.

We contacted Leo9 Studio via email through a recommendation from a colleague who had previously worked with them. Initially, we had an introductory meeting with Leo9 Studio, where I explained our expectations. We had various meetings to understand the costs and the required outputs. We also discussed the project timeline, and when we awarded them the contract, we made an initial payment and introduced Leo9 Studio to my internal team, who started to work right away.

We've spent around $8,000 on this project and have an extra budget of $10,000.

We started working with Leo9 Studio in February 2024, and our engagement is ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

I had previously tried to create our branding within the company, but it took a lot of time. We didn't have an organized method to build a brand, and when we engaged different people for reviews, it didn't go the way we wanted. We had an endless exercise, so I decided to work with a specialized branding company. If I compare the work, what the team has done in one month is equivalent to what we tried to do in four months. I'm satisfied with Leo9 Studio's work.

How did Leo9 Studio perform from a project management standpoint?

Leo9 Studio immediately set up communication channels after our project started through WhatsApp and emails. The team shares their work progress, and I can check where they are at any time. We're in a good way to conclude the work with the required outcome. Leo9 Studio has good project management skills, and we haven't encountered any hurdles. The team brings value to our project. 

We don't use project management because I didn't want to complicate the collaboration between our teams. I understand it would be necessary on bigger projects, but our engagement is small, and subsequent projects will be much bigger. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

I'm impressed by Leo9 Studio's team for being engaged and bringing positive energy into the project, helping us build a productive environment. Our company is in an early stage and requirements change, but Leo9 Studio stays focused and is flexible. The team keeps ingesting information and translating it into their work. Leo9 Studio adapts and contributes as we go, which is very important for a startup. Leo9 Studio will be at the top of the list for future projects.

Are there any areas they could improve?

Leo9 Studio could pursue higher-value projects for more complex development solutions. In software development, when a team builds a solution, they can sell customized versions with little extra work. I think Leo9 Studio could use software development tools to develop domain building and admin consoles.

Do you have any advice for future clients of theirs?

I recommend customers do their homework before engaging with Leo9 Studio. For instance, I started explaining my company's solution as a tool to help property managers. However, we realized over a number of iterations that it'd be better to build a financial empowerment tool to help people understand the finances behind their properties and a tool equipped to help users make financial decisions. 

If the client knows their strategy, they'll make Leo9 Studio's work simple and straightforward. The team can excel at positioning and messaging, website structure, and UI design. If the client isn't clear about their strategy, the team will take longer to deliver the desired results.

The swift execution coupled with high end design was the primary result of the project. In additon to being creative and crafty with the project, the prompt responses from the founder and the project manager Himanshu sawant were the highlights of our tenure together. All in all, our company has assigned LEO9 as the primary design and tech partner.

Much like our premium line of products and services, we wanted to create a premium experience for our customers when they visited our website. Though in many ways, Leo9 collaborated with us to deliver what we were looking for, that’s not to say it was smooth sailing from there on out.

We definitely faced numerous hiccups from time to time, but it wouldn’t be fair if we did not mention, they got back to us to solve the issues as soon as possible.

After looking at various web designers, we chose Leo9 to develop our website. They understood our needs and requirements for a premium website. Their concepts and design language was very close to ours.

Initially we had meetings to discuss our goals and requirements. Then we were presented with a few design options, once we finalized that, we moved to the designing.

All pages were designed and presented to us, after thoroughly adjusting and freezing the designs, we moved on to finalizing content, after which the website was developed. This process involved a lot of back and forth, in the end quality checks were performed and the site was up and running.

It’s never easy to showcase the litany of projects in your portfolio, but the website made it extremely easy for us to showcase our entire portfolio, which in return gave our customers assurance to make the right decision.

We never had an issue in the communication side of things, though the need for it rarely arose because of the work they had done before. But in the rare case, we needed to communicate, they always made themselves available for our enquiries and issues.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

Their exceptional work ethic and attention to detail can not receive enough praise. This complemented by their polite and knowledgeable employees always helped them stand out of the crowed.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

They could certainly make the process a lot faster. Even whilst keeping quality in mind, the entire process took longer than expected.

Clients love the updated design and they have much better understanding on what we do.

We had daily stand-ups with their project manager, who communicated with the rest of the team. If there were any delays, they let us know ahead of time so that we could prepare. We used Slack, Jira, and GitHub to coordinate, and they worked well with our team.

They gave us a professional site that's easy to update. My team had never worked with WordPress before, so they took the time to teach us how to update the content ourselves.

When we first launched, there were some minor bugs on the contact form. We let them know, and they were quick to fix the issues.

I was trying to do some brand definition and build my company material, including my logo, colors, brand aesthetic, and core brand assets.

What was the scope of their involvement?

I made sure they had an understanding of my business, competition, goals, mission, and vision. Additionally, they helped me define my brand values. Their designer came on at that point and implemented the brand values into our new color scheme, logo, and general aesthetic.

The third part of the engagement was the development of two kinds of collateral: a pitch desk to assist us in fundraising and social media templates.

We primarily engaged with three people: Jugal (Founder), Himanshu (Brand Experience Manager), and a designer.

We’ve been working together since October 2021 and are wrapping up a few loose ends right now. I’m currently considering working with them on my own website.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

The biggest demonstration of their value will be our firm’s success, but it’s too soon to tell. Based on our work to date, they’ve done fine. There’s room for improvement in terms of how long they took to respond and get the ball rolling. Based on the quality of their output, I was similarly pleased with their work on the logo, color scheme, and brand philosophy. The work was a bit generic, but it will be useful.

Regarding the pitch deck, the process was efficient, but there were certain issues that I expected a professional firm to have already remedied. Boxes weren’t aligned, some text was hard to edit, and a few bullet pints weren’t easy to work with. This should be a design firm’s bread and butter, but I ended up having to polish it up, which the customer shouldn’t have to.

How did Leo9 Studio perform from a project management standpoint?

They’re easy to work with, respectful, and available. There was one weekend where I couldn’t edit a document because of technical issues, and their designer took time late at night to help me out. I was very appreciative.

They also take feedback well and stick to the budget. I did have to be more prescriptive than I expected in terms of the deadlines. Rather than being proactive, they relied on me to check in and set timelines. The final product took almost double the time to deliver than they estimated it would take. They also could have set new milestones and communicated more about the adjustments.

What did you find most impressive about them?

The designer we worked with was on top of things, professional, and thoughtful. He definitely stood out and I would work with him again.

As Leo9 Studio is a one-stop shop, they have integrated brand design services and work together as a team. They’re capable of outsourcing things to experts on their team. I got some use out of that and hope to get more in the future. It’s helpful for someone like me who needs a wholistic package.

Finally, they’ve done a good job of finding the balance I wanted between modern and new age versus professional and elite. This was the strongest part of their work.

Are there any areas they could improve?

Overall, I had a great experience and would definitely use them again, but their process management and proactivity working across time zones could be improved. Additionally, they need to cross the T’s and dot the I’s to deliver a great final product.

Be hands-on, specific, and tactical. Make sure you know their experience level in your particular industry, as that will determine how much they’ll have to learn to deliver your desired look and feel.

We were referred to Leo9 by a friend and were incredibly impressed by their passion, commitment, and planned out strategies for attacking projects.

The team sent us a few documents to fill out regarding our identity and branding documents and has extensive questions to hone in on our strategy. We then created decks, going back and forth for a few weeks, to hone down on our branding. The decks put together pictures, slogans, symbols, and specific company assets (like a revolutionary design for our consumer debit card) to clearly display our brand identity. At the same time, we worked on UX wireframes for the different stages of our app. We went back and forth with the team on regular Zoom calls or by typing notes into Adobe XD. This then proceeded to incredibly quick UI designs. The process was always iterative and well thought out.

We worked directly with 2-3 senior designers from the team who would also work within their own design teams.

We came out with incredible UI/UX designs for our app, which are now being coded by our development team. We also had a strong sense of branding identity.

We used Slack to communicate but the team was always reachable over WhatsApp text/call as well.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

Leo9 has been very focused on detail. Their combined skills in marketing take their projects above the norm. All the details were rationalized and they had the right set of justifications and answers to questions we threw their way.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

Sometimes using the Adobe XD was confusing because not all suggestions would be accepted at once, so more clarity there would have been helpful. Otherwise, the team was fantastic.

I’m the founder and CEO of Peep Connect. We’re a startup developing a consumer engagement tool for small businesses.

What challenge were you trying to address with Leo9 Studio?

We wanted to relaunch, so we needed to rebrand ourselves and build out our UX/UI. We contracted Leo9 Studio to do that for us.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Leo9 Studio has helped us rebrand and build out the UX/UI on a much more detailed level. We focused on what works, how we make our product better, and how we engage people. When we were building the interface, we focused on user retention, experience, and engagement.

For the rebrand, we tried to change the name, but we ended up staying with the same one. Overall, we tried to focus on what it could be and what colors and tones inspired the modern-day marketing system, especially when it comes to Gen Z.

We’ve given them ideas of what we want to do, and they’ve done a good job running with them.

What is the team composition?

I work primarily with three people: Jugal (Co-Founder & CEO), Harsh (UX Engineer), who is in charge of the UX and interaction, and Pratik (Experience Designer), who is in charge of the design.

How did you come to work with Leo9 Studio?

We went on Dribble.com and had a few applications there. I spoke with Jugal, and he explained things in a way that made sense to me and made me realize that they were the team I wanted to work with.

I have high expectations and am very demanding, so I put that into context when I’m looking for someone to work with. I also think about trust and culture — whether I can trust this person to execute what I have in mind, and if I can trust them to do a good job of it.

We started working with them in April 2021, and the relationship is ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

It’s great for what it is and what we wanted to do. I presented their work to my investors and they loved it. As long as my investors are happy, I’m a happy man, so that’s all I care about.

To work with me, a company has to be really professional, and their deliveries have to be top-notch. Leo9 Studio has been willing to work with me and my crazy ideas. They’ve done a good job with deliveries, which have been on time.

How did Leo9 Studio perform from a project management standpoint?

They’re excellent at communicating. They make it easy when it comes to deadlines, especially if I just drop something on their lap. If something isn’t going to be delivered on time or by a certain date, they let me know, but they still work to deliver it by that time. They’re very professional.

For communication, we use emails and WhatsApp to message each other back and forth every day. We have many email threads, and we stuck to email because it was familiar and easier for us.

What did you find most impressive about them?

The most important thing is that people are able to communicate. Communication is the main thing I want when I work with anyone. In that sense, communication with our lead person has been great, and he’s pretty much involved in every aspect of the work.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I’m very demanding, but maybe they could improve the expert level of delivery. For example, we needed a design, so we had to reiterate several times before we came to the conclusion of what worked best. If they could start angling toward what works and what doesn’t in the second iteration, that would be great. Other than that, I don’t see anything. They arrived at what we wanted, but maybe it took more time to get there.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

They’re doing an amazing job as an organization, and they should just continue with that. They've been great at working with us, so I hope that others consider them.
