Website & Logo Development for Speech Telepractice
"They were in constant communication with us about all steps."

Please describe your company and your position there.
I am the founder and lead speech-language pathologist of CloudSpeech, a private speech telepractice that provides services online. Currently we work with children experiencing communication difficulties due to autism, apraxia, fluency, language, articulation or language disorders, as well as adults seeking accent modification, in a virtual clinic setting.
For what projects/services did your company hire Left Hand Design?
I consulted Left Hand Design to build a professional brand around our new web-based clinic concept. We needed support with the creative aspect of developing an identity for the business and wanted more than just a basic do-it-yourself-site to represent our private practice.
What were your goals for this project?
We wanted to develop a brand that would be easy to market and grow in a cutting-edge industry. While speech therapy is not a new concept, providing speech therapy online in a virtual setting is opening up a new world for e-learning in healthcare. It was important for our traditional values and skills to shine through a more modern identity that also demonstrated our tech approach.
How did you select this vendor?
I searched for graphic designers and website developers online through Google. Left Hand Design came up in a search for 'Best Web Developer' with solid reviews of their work. After checking out their website I was very interested in learning more about their approach to building a brand, not just a website. We connected easily with them via phone for a complimentary initial consultation. A couple weeks later we were able to meet in person at a low-key coffee shop in Austin, where they are located (we are based in Houston). They definitely lived up to their promise of 'southern hospitality', and our meeting ended with a plan to work together.
Describe the scope of their work in detail.
The process began with a detailed 'creative brief' where Left Hand learned more about our style and concepts. Their questions were so helpful in guiding the creative process. While we had ideas for the brand, Left Hand was instrumental in helping us to understand what elements are critical to creating an image that not only represents 'who your company is', but also plugs in easily into the modern world of social media marketing.
They were patient and supportive with our contributions to the development, but also honest and clear about which ideas were good and which would translate well to the success of the brand. Every step of development was guided by Left Hand, and they did an amazing job of taking our long list of ideas and hopes, and turning them into something real and tangible. We were able to complete the entire project at a distance and they held phone conferences with us to make decisions about design and content throughout the process.
The work was always presented very professionally so that we could make informed decisions. 'Style Guides' were shared for all concepts during development that included notes about the developers thoughts and vision for each individual design choice. This was crucial in helping to develop the 'brand'. Left Hand begins with logo to establish the brand before building it into a dynamic website.
They were in constant communication with us about all steps via email, and always available for questions or concerns. As a small business that would be self-managing our site, Left Hand made sure that we understood how the software worked so that we could handle it independently once it was complete. They created instructional videos for us to learn how to upload and update content. When our small business ran into hiccups and we needed to make changes due to HIPAA compliance for example, Left Hand was patient and helpful as we shifted gears. They made all steps of development easy for us by giving simple instructions when the time was right to secure things such as 'fonts' so that we would have them to use independently in the future. They really guided the whole process. In the end, we received a final 'style guide' with all of our logo images and specific instructions on how to best use them. We received a simple file folder with all the images organized and labeled by their intended purposes. Once we began digital marketing it was so easy to just upload the appropriate images to the right spots. We received stacked, horizontal, color, black and white, web and vector designs all in once package so that we are prepared to share our brand anywhere.
What was the team composition?
I worked directly with Left Hand project manager and graphic designer throughout the project. They were responsive and available throughout the process.
Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?
The website turned out great, and everyone loves the new 'face' of our business. Left Hand definitely gave CloudSpeech an identity, and jumping into social media has been simple and successful. The image of the brand expresses the quality of our practice, and people are positively responding to our recent introduction into the online teletherapy space.
How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?
I met regularly with Left Hand via phone and email to stay connected about the project progress and next steps. Sharing notes and ideas was easy with the use of digital dropbox and google drive tools. They were very responsive to our emails and helped me to stay on track during the website content development phase. They were responsive to my concerns and questions, and very patient with the decision making process.
What did you find most impressive about this company?
The gentleman at Left Hand Design take pride in their work and commitment to southern hospitality. I was most impressed by their supportive role in the design process. They helped to bring our ideas to life, and also fostered a level of independence needed to move into the next phase: marketing. They made a great effort to help us meet our timelines and launch the practice.
Are there any areas for improvement?
Left Hand was great to work with, even at a distance. We completed the entire project across different time zones. A detailed instructional video was provided for us to provide support in editing the website. I would recommend including more teaching tools like this for clients; perhaps shorter videos about specific topics that could more easily be referenced by clients at any time for future reference.

Highly recommend.

Please describe your company and your position there.
I am the owner of a small batch Nano Brewery in Northern California called 18Seventy Brewing Co.
For what projects/services did your company hire Left Hand Design?
Left Hand Design helped me create my initial logo.
What were your goals for this project?
The goals of the project were to produce an initial logo design to help tell the story of the startup concept and help capture community ties and design needs of the startup brewery.
How did you select this vendor?
Left Hand Design helped me take a 60,000 elevation level look at my concept, ideas and thoughts and get down to a 1,000 ft. level that helps reign in the brand image. They used an initial design thoughts page and a conference call to determine design needs. Feedback was given and thoughtful execution was completed.
Describe the project in detail.
Beau and Paul help narrow my scope by asking simple questions and really climb into my mind of what I pictured the design to be. They allowed me to share it and get feedback and then narrowing down options.
What was the team composition?
Paul helps navigate the logistics/marketing portion and Beau is the design guru.
Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?
I did not think they would be able to narrow my crazy ideas down from me telling them my vision and they captured a future vision along with keeping the design unique.
How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?
They communicate mostly with email and hit deadlines of when they would have concepts and designs.
What did you find most impressive about this company?
Efficiency, sometimes being small creates large in-efficiencies. They managed to take a lot of information in the beginning to create a good first set of concepts to build on.
Are there any areas for improvement?
I am interested in the future of label design and building on the concept. We spoke briefly about this in the beginning, but I think they should expand and pitch these as packages in the beginning.

Logo Design for Digital Marketing agency

Please describe your company and your position there.
I’m the founder of a digital marketing company I will be launching in summer, 2019.
For what projects/services did your company hire Left Hand Design?
Logo design
What were your goals for this project?
My goals were to create a logo that not only complimented the industry I'm going to target for marketing services, but also one that was memorable and recognizable. I wanted a logo that was simple yet eye-catching and could easily be translated into a business card and an LED sign to sit on a desktop. It had to have a retro look related to the aviation industry.
How did you select this vendor?
I have worked with Beau at Left Hand Design in the past on another project when I was recording a music album. I hired LHD to put together the album artwork using photos sent in from various events during the album’s recording. The result was a professional looking album cover and an overall collage of photos on the inside of the case that turned out incredible.
Describe the scope of their work in detail.
LHD was able to take all of my ideas and suggestions and piece them together seamlessly while adding their own advice and insight on how to make the final product top notch. The same rang true for the logo design for my digital marketing endeavor. I sent them a rough sketch up of an idea and I was guided into a better direction for simplicity. The suggestions made perfect sense. It was a mutual interaction where ideas were bounced back and forth and put into creative rough drafts.
What was the team composition?
I worked directly with the founder of LHD.
Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?
The logo design was a major step in the early stages of building my agency. Without a great logo, my brand and website would lack authenticity and recognition. It was important for me to get this done first before moving to the next step of website creation.
How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?
Easy and seamless.
What did you find most impressive about this company?
Their professionalism, ability to give good feedback on ideas, and offer suggestions and ideas that aligned with the project’s objectives.
I originally hired another online logo designer from a popular website full of graphics designers and the saying goes true that you get what you pay for. They were easy to work with but I knew I needed someone closer to home and who I could trust to communicate effectively and efficiently in order to achieve the right logo design for my business that met all of my color requirements interests
Are there any areas for improvement?
LHD has been around for years, has learned many important skills of the branding industry, and is among the best in the business. You can drive around Austin and see work on a restaurant's logo design that is straight from the minds and desks of Left Hand Design.

I’m the CEO & President of designEDengagement, PBC, which is an education consulting firm. We develop leaders to improve relationships between communities, schools, and families in order to impact student outcomes.
For what projects/services did your company hire Left Hand Design?
I needed help creating a logo, business cards, and banner.
What were your goals for this project?
I wanted an eye-catching logo that reflected the company mission.
How did you select this vendor?
I found Left Hand Design online, along with several other graphic designers. I picked them after reviewing their portfolio of previous work and due to their excellent customer service.
Describe the scope of their work in detail.
Left Hand Design began the process with an in-person meeting. Beau (Owner & Designer, Left Hand Design) asked a lot of questions about what I was looking to accomplish. He was clear about what he would be able to deliver. I received a follow-up email with samples of the potential end product. Beau also sent over a comprehensive creative survey to further brief them on what I was looking for in a design.
I received three logo options shortly after I completed the survey. Following the selection of the final design, they moved on to locking in the color scheme and delivered the brand style guide.
What was the team composition?
In addition to Beau, I worked with Paul (Project Manager, Left Hand Design).
Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?
Their work was excellent. My new logo is meaningful, eye-catching, and well-positioned in the market. Beau took the time to understand my vision and created a logo that completely reflects what I wanted. I’m incredibly grateful for the creative work and talent he invested in creating my brand.
How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?
Their customer service was 100% effective. Paul consistently communicated about the status of the project. He always followed up to ensure the products were to my satisfaction. I will definitely continue working with Left Hand Design for all of my graphic design needs.
What did you find most impressive about this company?
Both the quality of the final product and the customer service exceeded my expectations. In this digital world, I appreciated Left Hand Design’s use of in-person meetings.
Are there any areas for improvement?
No, there were no areas for improvement.

Please describe your company and your position there.
I am a Cyber Security Professional at a mutual fund in Austin, Texas. I am also an assistant to our Chief Portfolio Manager, and half of my job is coordinating special projects for this manager.
For what projects/services did your company hire Left Hand Design?
The objective was to replicate the images from the manager’s plane on to a recently purchased RV.
What were your goals for this project?
The wrap for the RV had to match the graphics from the plane.
How did you select this vendor?
Three graphics companies in the Austin area turned down the project, claiming they were not a good fit. We found Left Hand Design through an online search and asked them to consider the task.
Describe the scope of their work in detail.
The design team needed clean pictures of the existing graphics without seeing the plane in person. We provided them with a single-sided view of the plane, from the left side. Left Hand Design’s team asked if there were any templates for the RV but none existed. They redrew the image several times and scaled them to fit the left side, right side, and rear of the RV.
We requested a timeline of less than two weeks. We received one mid-point update that the project was on track to be completed by the specified date.
What was the team composition?
We worked only with Paul, a project manager, and a graphic designer.
Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?
The replicated images looked great, and the project was completed on time. The wrap application specialist recently took control of the images to put them on the RV.
How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?
This project was a likely smaller task for Left Had Design, but we were treated very professionally. They were organized and attentively listened to our ideas. Left Hand Design communicated on our behalf to the wrap application company, which we appreciated. We were confident throughout the engagement that they would deliver high-quality graphics.
What did you find most impressive about this company?
Prior to finding Left Hand Design, two other local graphics companies and a wrap company politely declined to take our project. Left Hand Design never wavered. They accepted the task and delivered a strong result. It was a hassle-free and smooth project.
Are there any areas for improvement?
No, nothing comes to mind.

Please describe your company and your position there.
I’m the owner of The Wild Onion Ranch. I manage a small, family-run wedding and events venue. My responsibilities include managing inquiries, events, logistics, financials, and technical needs.
For what projects/services did your company hire Left Hand Design?
Because of an issue with our domain host, we lost our original website. When all of the servers crashed, most of our information was erased and we lost that email access connected to the site. We needed a team to design a new website.
What were your goals for this project?
First, we wanted a solution that alerted visitors that our site was down and offer them alternative contact methods. Then, we wanted a new website that incorporated the content we saved from the original platform. With no knowledge or experience in this area, I was looking for a partner to fully set up the new site.
How did you select this vendor?
I chose Left Hand Design following a referral from a friend who is also in the wedding and events industry.
Describe the project in detail.
After setting up a splash page to communicate with visitors, the team redirected our server information to enable emails again. Left Hand Design offered two template options and I made my decision based on price. I shared the content saved from the original website, and they organized it within the template I chose, adjusting the wording and visuals as necessary. Additionally, they helped edit the photo featured on the homepage to match the one from our old site.
What was the team composition?
I worked with Beau (Founder, Left Hand Design).
Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?
They delivered a fully functional and well-designed website that’s easy to navigate.
How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?
Beau was responsive and helpful. He was able to explain technical terms in an accessible manner.
What did you find most impressive about this company?
I was most impressed by Beau’s responsive communication skills. He responded quickly to all of my emails, which I highly appreciated.
Are there any areas for improvement?
I don’t think there are areas they could improve.

Please describe your company and your position there.
St. Andrew's Episcopal School is a co-ed, independent day school for grades K-12 located in Austin, Texas. I'm the communications manager. I work directly under the director of development and communications.
For what projects/services did your company hire Left Hand Design?
Our school leadership approved a new mascot at the end of the last school year, and we needed a new mascot by the start of the new school year. We had a very short timeframe—fewer than 60 days—to achieve this. With nothing more than a new mascot name, we needed a designer to conceptualize the image and provide brand standards, social media icons, website banner images, flags and banners, and a t-shirt design.
What were your goals for this project?
Our goal was to develop an exciting, professional mascot that would unite our school’s community. Our challenges were to overcome a short timeframe and a limited budget.
How did you select this vendor?
I did most research online and asked prospective vendors for portfolios to review. Very few, though, had previous work with educational institutes. Luckily, Left Hand Design had staff members with previous exposure to professional athletics teams and a strong portfolio of work.
Describe the scope of their work in detail.
We provided a list of items we needed and our budget range. Left Hand Design provided an itemized list with cost breakdowns to reflect what we could achieve within that budget. They then had us submit a creative brief to provide some ideas and context to help them get the design underway. Late in the process, we asked Left Hand Design to do some additional production for us, and they adjusted well to that last-minute addition.
What was the team composition?
I coordinated directly with the project manager, Paul, who was great to work with.
Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?
We are very happy with the final product. Our students were excited when they saw the design on the first day of school. Our entire community appreciates the design’s professionalism and is proud of how it represents us. The mascot change is a result of a student movement, and it’s refreshing to see their vision realized.
How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?
Paul was professional, approachable, and always responsive via email and phone. He established the connection between our team and their designers. Our workflow and communication were very efficient. We always knew where our project was and what progress had been made.
What did you find most impressive about this company?
Their turnaround time, and ability to add further projects late in the process, was truly outstanding. I felt I could trust Left Hand Design to do their very best work while they respected our timeframe and our budget. Further, I have to reiterate how impressive their communication was. They responded quickly to questions and showed grace and enthusiasm under pressure.
Are there any areas for improvement?
We only had a minor mishap with shipping the final materials, but otherwise, we have no complaints. I highly recommend Left Hand Design.
