The application consists of two components, the first for customers looking for beauty services and the second for users who offer those services. BeautyBox was a startup that wanted to release the first version of its solution on the market as soon as possible. The founders of BeautyBox already had the first version of the application and specifications of its functionalities. The current version of the solution did not meet their expectations. Poor code quality and the fact that the application has so far been created by two different teams contributed to the malfunctioning of the entire solution. The biggest requirement was to reconcile existing code with changing customer requirements. BeautyBox needed a solid technological partner. A team that would refine the assumptions, fix errors in existing code and create a stable system that can be easily developed in the future.
GOALS
- establishing long-term cooperation with a professional, experienced team that meets all customer competence requirements
- creating a professional system enabling continuous development and extension of the website in the future

RunEASI – to make the world run better
RunEASI is a KU Leuven (Katholieke Universiteit Leuven, Belgium) sports tech spin-off. Their mission is to make the world run better and help people to enjoy pain free running by leveraging scientific research in Biomechanics and Artificial Intelligence.
The first step was to verify with physiotherapists the idea of RunEASI to analyze the runners’ movements with the smallest possible budget - to limit the risk of investment. After achieving the goals set for the MVP version, the next step was to build a high quality product.
Runeasi wanted to make a mobile application working with the sensor and to start testing the wearable technology with physios and their patients. They came with a list of many features they wanted to implement and asked for an estimation. Leaware, using their own new product discovery process, helped Runeasi to define the main purpose of using the first version of an application and to choose the most important functionalities, setting the minimal budget. The crucial thing on that stage was to enable physiotherapists to measure impact and interpret the data efficiently. The whole documentation was created and the development was done in a short time. It enabled Runeasi to test the solution with physios and gather invaluable feedback.
RunEASI decided to collaborate with Leaware for future improvements and extensions of their product. They also got funding from The Flemish Agency for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (VLAIO) that will allow them to test the product market fit of some other ideas that they have in their pipeline.

A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the co-founder and CEO of Swave, a platform that helps merchants boost sales by allowing users to save money on parking and public transportation if they use the app to go cashless.
What challenge were you trying to address with Leaware?
We weren’t satisfied with the quality of our existing app, so we were looking for someone to help us with app development.
What was the scope of their involvement?
Leaware is helping us improve our mobile app. They’re currently building more features and working to clean the code. The team is using Flutter to build the mobile app, which will be on both iOS and Android. In terms of the design, we provided it. After we launch the app, we plan on having the Leaware team develop its web version.
What is the team composition?
We work with the CTO, who also acts as the project manager, a backend developer, and a frontend developer.
How did you come to work with Leaware?
A colleague who had worked with Leaware recommended them.
How much have you invested with them?
We’ve spent between $10,000–$49,000.
What is the status of this engagement?
The project started in December 2020 and is ongoing. We took a pause from March–June 2021 due to COVID-19, but we picked things back up on July 2021.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
We haven’t launched the app yet, so we don’t have many metrics. However, we’re thrilled with Leaware — their work has consistently been high in quality.
How did Leaware perform from a project management standpoint?
We’re happy with how they’re managing the project. Leaware’s communication skills have been flawless, and they’ve met all our deadlines. We use Slack and Jira to collaborate daily. We also have three stand-up calls per week on Microsoft Teams, where we go through what we’ve done and run through our next steps.
What did you find most impressive about them?
Leaware is a trustworthy team that provides excellent app development. Furthermore, their flexibility has been valuable to us. They’re a true partner, and we’re very pleased with them.
Are there any areas they could improve?
They could provide a way to help us monitor their teammates’ work more closely.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Be very open and provide a clear brief. Additionally, make sure to treat them as your partner.

Please describe your company and your position there.
I am the CTO of Runeasi, a KU Leuven spin-off that wants to make the world run better. The impact when your foot hits the ground while running is repetitive and ruthless. Overload, asymmetry and poor movement control are causing setbacks, injuries and pain.
Runeasi's wearable technology combines biomechanics and AI to introduce a novel way to look at running. More specifically, it enables physios to 1) Accurately measure impact and detect how the body responds to it. 2) Perform biomechanical assessments on patients and athletes in real-time. 3) Guide them based on scientifically validated insights and AI powered decisions
For what projects/services did your company hire Leaware?
We hired Leaware to help us with the development of a mobile app and setting up a cloud infrastructure to support our SaaS business model
What were your goals for this project?
The project consist of 2 main goals:
- First, the development of a mobile app that communicates with our sensor api and allows physios to analyse our biomechanical metrics using intuitive visualizations.
- Second, to help us setup a cloud infrastructure that allows us to authenticate customers, manage their licenses, sync data between multiple devices, and enable us to continuously improve our service by learning from the data
How did you select Leaware?
We found out about Leaware via one of our mentors at KBC startit, an incubator for startups. After comparing Leaware to several other potential partners, we decided to work with them because their lean product development methodology aligned nicely with our needs as a startup.
We were convinced that we could benefit a lot from the best practices that Leaware developed over the past years while working on a high number of other projects. A last factor that convinced us was their flexibility and ability to scale their team when needed.
Describe the project in detail.
After a couple of discovery meetings we started working on the design phase were we created mockups of the app. After validating these mockups with potential customers, and a couple more quick iterations we could finalize the design phase and start the development process.
We then started working in sprints were I got the opportunity to closely interact with the development team on a daily basis, while still having enough time to focus on my core expertise: the development of the embedded biomechanics analytics algorithms and data interpretations.
What was the team composition?
Initially we could jumpstart the project with the help of a project manager/ architect and the help of 5 developers (3 mobile developers and 2 backend developers). Once the backbone and cloud api was in place we continued to worked together with the project manager and 2 mobile developers.
Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?
Even though the timeline for our first release was really short, we managed to release it in time and got very positive feedback from our clients.
How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?
The workflow was very effective. As a product owner with a technical background I really liked to participate to the daily scrum meetings and take part in the discussions on development decisions/pioritizations along the way. Even though we were all working remotely, it felt like one big team.
What did you find most impressive about this company?
I think Leaware offers much more than just extra developers. They think along, quickly understood our problem domain and helped us to prioritize to come up with a product that maximizes the value for its end users while respecting our budget.
Are there any areas for improvement?
We are very happy with our collaboration so far and decided to also collaborate with Leaware for future improvements and extensions of our product.
We really appreciate their transparancy when working together and are very pleased with the complementary expertise that they add to our Runeasi team. This allows us to focus on our core expertise and continuosly improve our wearable technology and data interpretations.

Financial Site Dev for Financial Services Company
"The resources that they have available have been important to us."
the reviewer
the review
A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
We’re a fintech startup, and we’re trying to provide person-to-person borrowing services. We’re currently targeting users in Denmark, Sweden, and Norway within half a year or a year. The good thing about us is that we’re not a bank, and we don’t touch people’s money — essentially, we’re just a meeting place for people with financial needs and financial abilities.
What challenge were you trying to address with Leaware?
I used to work on our website during my free time, but we were getting quite delayed. Our progress wasn’t enough, so we decided to hire another company to help us push the deliverables we needed and to provide the manpower that would accomplish our goal.
A previous company did the initial version of our site with a frontend React setup, but it didn’t work well. Some of our other managers also thought the initial layout wasn't designed the way they wanted. As a result, we engaged with Leaware.
What was the scope of their involvement?
Leaware took over the site project, and we’ve chosen Lukasz (Full Stack .NET Developer) to speed things up. He’s mainly in charge of frontend development and partially, backend development too.
Lukasz has taken over all the old code and made optimizations on the layout and the design parts of our platform. He has removed all the unpleasant things, and he’s now putting the finishing touches. Essentially, the software has been completed, and we’re about to end the partnership in a month or so.
What is the team composition?
We only work with Lukasz, and we’ve been working with him for about six months now.
How did you come to work with Leaware?
One of our managers worked with another Polish company before, and we wanted to do business with them. However, they didn’t have the manpower that we needed. They led us to Leaware, and they told us they could make our project happen.
How much have you invested with them?
We’ve spent $40,000–$45,000.
What is the status of this engagement?
We started working together in September 2021, and it’s ongoing.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
There’s a big difference between how they work and how they’re taught to think. They’re not scared to ask questions and verify if we want to pursue our ideas. Sometimes, people just say yes to everything and end up losing their client’s time and resources.
Leaware lets us see things from their perspective, and they work around whatever issue we have. We appreciate that they deeply understand their tasks at hand and perform critical assessments of the specifications we need.
We don’t have anything measurable right now because we haven’t done anything to be visible. However, we’re positive that any loan service will be approached by people like it’s nobody’s business.
How did Leaware perform from a project management standpoint?
We communicate on Skype every day, and we go back and forth almost like we’re in the same office. We also do the project management on our own, but it’s been very limited.
What did you find most impressive about them?
The resources that they have available have been important to us. We wanted somebody who’s well-versed in React and .NET, and they’ve given us that. Overall, we’re quite pleased with our partnership.
Lukasz’s capability to adapt has also been impressive. We’ve had some pressures due to the deadline, but he has always stepped up to meet our needs. I’ve seen Lukasz as an employee more than a consultant to our company.
Are there any areas they could improve?
It would’ve been cool to have a bit more of a contact person to run with. They gave us one, but we’ve never used it. However, maybe they should’ve been more proactive on that part.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
If you’re going to use two more resources from Leaware, you need to do some project management either through Scrum or other similar methodologies. We’re already aiming for the same plan next time and hopefully, we’ll have a close team to keep our momentum going — make our own little unit that will be available at all hours.

Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m a project manager for INNOMOS International. We’re part of INNOMOS GmbH, and our head office is in Germany. I’m working from Kiev, Ukraine.
What challenge were you trying to address with Leaware?
We required their expertise and resources for a particular technology stack.
What was the scope of their involvement?
Our main project with Leaware has been developing a cross-platform app for Android and iOS. Our customer is a manufacturer of industrial equipment that needed an app for a new product they were launching.
What is the team composition?
We’ve worked with 4–5 developers from Leaware overall, but we’ve been using a single developer since October 2019.
What is the status of this engagement?
We started working with Leaware in September 2019, and we’re within the final stages of the project now.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
We don’t keep KPIs for their team. We just look at whether or not they’re able to deliver features and iterations. The fact that we’re continuing to work with Leaware is an indicator that we’re satisfied.
How did Leaware perform from a project management standpoint?
We’ve mostly used Slack for text communication and conference calls.
What did you find most impressive about them?
They manage the process well, and they’re open to providing ideas and solutions. I feel that they care about what we’re developing.
Are there any areas they could improve?

Please describe your company and your position there.
I am an ecomerce marketing manager at Kontigo, a company belonging to the Euro Cash group. We sell high-quality cosmetics for make-up, face and body care. We have an online store and a network of stationary stores throughout Poland.
For what projects/services did your company hire Leaware, and what were your goals?
We wanted to create an online application for our customers that would allow them to visualize the make-up effect before purchasing the products. We wanted each client to be able to put the selected product on her face and check the final effect using augmented reality filters.
Our goal was to create a tool that will distinguish us from the competition and, as a result, increase the online sales of our cosmetics.
How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?
We met at one of the IT supplier fair. At the stand, Leaware presented a cognitive booth that recognized the age, gender and mood of visitors. We started talking about what our companies do and how Leaware can help with ur bussines goals. Leaware met our requirements in great detail and presented an attractive offer.
Describe the scope of work in detail, including the project steps, key deliverables, and technologies used.
They prepared the AR mobile application, which allowed customers to choose and apply a make-up effect chosen by our team, and to recommend other matching products. The application identified the features of the client's face: eye color, hair color, skin color, and then recommended matching products from the base.
We provided the Leaware team with a photo of the makeup that we want to put on our clients' faces. They made a 3D mask out of it, which could then be applied to the face of the application user.
How many people from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?
5 people worked on the project. AR developer, Project Manager, Graphic Designer, Business Analyst and CTO.
Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?
The solution is still being tested. We test it on a group of our associates and check its capabilities. We want to refine the product so that in the future we can develop it and introduce it to other platforms: website, intelligent kiosks in stationary stores. The app provided by Leaware is a great start to large-scale concept development
Describe their project management style, including communication tools and timeliness.
While developing the app, we had weekly phone calls with the project manager and the rest of the team. We discussed the progress of work and solved problems together. We were very well informed about everything. We knew what the delay was caused and what we had to deliver.
What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?
Relationships and great support with knowledge. The Leaware team responded quickly to our feed back and made changes flexibly. We felt that we were working together on the project as one team composed of members of two companies.
They always had our business goal in mind, advised us based on their experience and shared valuable knowledge as experts.
Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?
The Leaware team is not afraid of challenges. Could they have done something different? Nothing comes to mind!

Software Development for Healthcare SaaS Platform
"They're a multi-skilled company."

the review
A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m was the co-founder and project manager of Atendi.care, a healthcare SaaS platform in Belgium that connects healthcare providers and patients.
What challenge were you trying to address with Leaware?
Since we were a startup, we weren’t planning to hire software development people in-house. We quickly made the choice to outsource the whole software development process.
What was the scope of their involvement?
They were our software development partner. They also helped us to better define the needs of our users which was an additional value that they delivered to us.
How did you come to work with Leaware?
I had previous contacts with them at another job. We saw the results of their work and they seemed to be a very good partner which is the reason we chose them.
How much have you invested with them?
We invested about €150,000 (approximately $169,687.50 USD).
What is the status of this engagement?
We worked together from January 2014–December 2018.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
We were very pleased with the quality of work that they delivered. It wasn’t easy since we were a startup. In the beginning, it took some time to find out what our customers wanted as a solution. We appreciated Leaware’s flexibility in the process.
How did Leaware perform from a project management standpoint?
We had very close communication. For six months, we were collaborating daily to get the product launched. We had daily Skype calls. We worked in a scrum methodology. There was continuous communication between us and their development team in Poland. We had cameras on all day as if they were sitting next to us. We sometimes traveled to Poland to visit the team which I believe is important to do to build a relationship.
What did you find most impressive about them?
They’re used to working with companies that aren’t in their country. They do a lot of nearshore development and you can tell that they’re used to it. They’re used to all modern communication techniques to connect with their customers. This is sometimes not the case with technical vendors.
They have a wide variety of skillsets covered from UX design and graphic design, to back- and frontend development. They're a multi-skilled company.
Are there any areas they could improve?
No. They were fast learning. I don’t have any criticism towards them.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
When you work with a nearshore development company, communication is key. You can’t just send over the specifications and have them come back three weeks later with a part developed. You have to have continuous communication with them and oblige them to do that. In the beginning, they realized we needed to communicate on a daily basis. Once you get that in place, everything goes smoothly.

As a mobile app project for iOS and Android platforms, Braveland was challenging from the start. The solution was to create an application through which users will not only learn the principles of healthy and proper nutrition, but also every day will have the opportunity to lead a healthy lifestyle.

The main challenge was to combine in the application elements of physical activity with exciting RPG gameplay.
