Our company is still very young, and we decided that we wanted to start our entity with a prototype of the app so that we could prove the concept. We engaged OSVIN Web Solutions to complete that work.

What was the scope of their involvement?
Our engagement was pretty straightforward. We presented them with the business requirements, and we relied on them to produce designs and wireframes. They were fully responsible for all backend and frontend work for the iOS application.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
Our product hasn’t launched because there is still much work to be done to get a production grade application. The reason we started with a prototype was to not only prove it to ourselves but also prove it to healthcare service providers that this is a viable application that they should be familiar with. We hoped to create a market opportunity, and we have.
How did OSVIN Web Solutions perform from a project management standpoint?
Communicating across several time zones presented some challenges, but that’s to be expected. Overall, their team did very well communicating through Zoom and WhatsApp. They quickly understood what we were trying to do, and they shared some of their own suggestions. They have relevant experience, and they never came across as needing much guidance. We’ll continue to work with them for the next phase of our initiative.
What did you find most impressive about them?
Their team is eager and flexible. They listened well and did their best to understand our requirements.
Are there any areas they could improve?
OSVIN Web Solutions maintained consistent working hours, which is a challenge when separated by as many time zones as we were. But, going forward, I’d request more flexibility in when their team would be available to schedule calls.
Further, their team could benefit from increased clarity of individual roles and responsibilities. The absence of that didn’t affect us too much, but it was something I noticed regardless.

Because we had a single point of contact, it was easier to manage the project. We’d also worked with them before, so we knew what to expect. Communication is primarily through Zoom and WhatsApp.
What did you find most impressive about them?
I appreciate that this was a continuation of our previous project, so we already had an idea of how we worked together. They understood the platform, and I knew what to do and not do.
Are there any areas they could improve?
Compared to our first engagement, they’ve improved a lot on project management. Before, I was coordinating with 4–5 different people, but having a project manager has simplified that process.
There’s still a time difference because I’m in California, and they’re in India. As a result, I don’t necessarily talk to them every day.
It would be nice if they were more proactive about status updates. Daily emails on their progress would keep me informed on what they’ve completed that day and their next steps for tomorrow.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Be clear in what you want them to do and break your project down into specific goals and objectives. It’s important to divide your time frame into smaller pieces before building metrics around them. That way, you have a better understanding of how your project is progressing.
You should also clarify what kind of communication that you need and make sure that they stick to that cadence. That could be weekly or daily reports.

I am the owner of Casamatch, a platform for people to list, buy, sell, and rent homes. The service matches buyers, renters, and sellers, then allows them to perform user transactions.
OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE
What challenge were you trying to address with OSVIN Web?
The challenge was building an app for iOS and Android. I’m in Canada, and I needed to start the work at a fair price.
SOLUTION
What was the scope of their involvement?
OSVIN Web built the first version of my Android and iOS app. We had an initial conversation, and then they took over the project. I gave them my ideas and specified how I wanted the app to work, and they took care of everything, including the app’s flow and wireframes. The initial version wasn’t the best, but we worked for seven months to complete it.
I outlined how I wanted the app to be built and drew on OSVIN Web’s experience to clean it up. They took my ideas, ran with them, and gave me prototypes. They also worked with me on the user interface, color scheme, logo, icons, and other elements that made the app more pleasant to use.
The app can be used by a renter to create a profile and enter what they’re looking for. On the other side, landlords can list what they have. These two columns are matched based on city, radius, or transportation lines. Everything within 500 meters of a subway line is pushed to the user for assessment. As data comes in, it is pushed in both directions. Landlords can see the profiles of potential renters and communicate with them, and vice versa.
What is the team composition?
One of their senior Android developers acted as project manager and designer. She wasn’t the original person on my account, but I have only good things to say about her. It wasn’t until she got onboard that things became positive. She was instrumental in making the project happen.
How did you come to work with OSVIN Web?
Someone I know had worked with them. They suggested calling OSVIN Web to see if they’d be up for the job. I considered local companies as well. Working at a distance is exceptionally difficult, but the local options were not financially feasible. After getting in touch with OSVIN Web and outlining their commitment and body of work, we moved ahead.
How much have you invested with them?
Their work came in around $27,000.
What is the status of this engagement?
I started working with OSVIN Web in March 2016. The project went on too long, to be honest. It took us until around January 2017 to finish everything and fix all the bugs.
RESULTS & FEEDBACK
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
The platform was live for about eight months. I had a problem filling both sides of the supply chain. Some people looked for X when only Y was available, which is why we’re currently revamping the app. The metrics for the beta period weren’t good. People used it, but the user base wasn’t large enough.
People appreciated having listings pushed directly to them instead of using portals like Craigslist. The app was easy to use, but it had some bugs. I’ve had feedback about crashes that needed to be fixed.
However, the success of the app and OSVIN Web’s ability to deliver are two separate things. OSVIN Web delivered their end of the agreement.
How did OSVIN Web perform from a project management standpoint?
The collaboration was difficult in the beginning, but the communication was far easier and results came quicker once their project manager came onboard. Once the right person got involved, it went very well. Being at a distance led to six or eight weeks of challenges. We typically communicated through Skype and email. The time distance was terrible, but communicating with them was easy.
What did you find most impressive about them?
They worked from a distance, and the project presented some challenges and frustrations, but they stuck to their word. The project grew in scope from the initial quote and outline, but they worked for months on persistent issues. They promised to do it, and they did, without asking for more money. It would have been easy for OSVIN Web to give up on the project, especially given the distance, but they never did.
Are there any areas they could improve?
I wish we’d initially spent more time to clarify the scope of the project. We should’ve ensured that we understood each other before the project started moving ahead. That consultation should have been more in-depth.
