BACKGROUND
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I'm the general manager of a company that is dedicated to distributing supplies worldwide. We’re in Panama and we have clients in Argentina, Colombia, the US, and Canada.
OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE
What challenge were you trying to address withCode and Hardware Co.?
We needed a website and a payment gateway so that we could sell our products online.
SOLUTION
What was the scope of their involvement?
They developed our website and set up our payment system. Our old website was very archaic, so they developed it from scratch. For this project, they collaborated closely with the banking institution and with their security company in charge of credit cards. Our main requirement was that they had to meet all the bank’s needs so that we could process online payments.
Our package included all the things that needed to be adapted to the website, especially regarding the bank and security institution involved with the credit card verification software. Once the website and shopping cart features were operating, we ran tests. The testing and bank approval processes lasted about 60 days.
What is the team composition?
I worked with one of their main programmers who was in charge of the development. We also dealt with two other people who visited our offices to set up all of the hardware.
How did you come to work with Code and Hardware Co.?
They had developed an online shopping platform for small businesses that sell through WhatsApp. We thought it was very innovative, and we decided to search for whoever developed it. They were Panama-based just like us, which was a plus. On top of that, we had a great working relationship on our previous projects and they delivered satisfactory results
How much have you invested with them?
We spent around $3,500–$4,000.
What is the status of this engagement?
We worked together from February–May 2021. We started conversations in March 2021, but we had to find the right bank for us before starting the collaboration.
RESULTS & FEEDBACK
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
We considered the website and payment gateway as a good investment and as an instrument of our success. Before partnering with Code and Hardware Co., we didn’t have an e-commerce system and our website didn’t have much engagement. Once we had the new website in place, we saw a rise in clicks and our sales also improved.
How did Code and Hardware Co. perform from a project management standpoint?
For providing instructions, we used corporate email. Meanwhile, day-to-day communication was carried out through phone calls and WhatsApp depending on the situation.
What did you find most impressive about them?
Their programmer was well-prepared and was proficient in English, which was fundamental to our project's success. When it came to more technological terms, he did a great job of explaining the basics to me. Overall, he was very talented.
Are there any areas they could improve?
As a client, we'd always want things to be done cheaper. Pricing was the only thing they could improve.
