A technology company wanted to develop their website and mobile capabilities further. Kobayashi Online was tasked to design and develop a website and mobile application from scratch using Ruby on Rails.

Kobayashi Online couldn’t bring their ideas to life and failed to deliver the project. Although they had good designers, the execution fell through due to the project management. They communicated only through Zoom, constantly pushed the deadlines, and didn’t track the progress appropriately.

We were trying to develop our website and mobile properties further.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Kobayashi Online designed and developed a new website and application from scratch. They used Ruby on Rails.

We worked with about five team members, including a project manager, a backend developer, a couple of designers, and a marketing person.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

How did your relationship with the vendor evolve?

They had good designers, but the execution fell apart. They weren’t able to bring their ideas to life or meet the project’s requirements.

How was project management handled?

The project wasn’t managed as we’d expect. They pushed deadlines constantly, and the project manager lost sight of where they were. All in all, the team wasn’t organized or effectively managed.

We mainly communicated through Zoom, which was part of the problem.

Is there anything that the vendor did well or that you would consider a strength?

Their strength was their creativity, but they couldn’t do what they described, which was the most crucial part.
