A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the co-founder and COO of Truckish. We are an early-stage tech startup that provides staff solutions for the trucking industry. We’re in a piloting stage right now.
What challenge were you trying to address with King Creative Co.?
We needed help with branding and messaging, but we were uncertain about what exactly we needed.
What was the scope of their involvement?
They gave a recommendation for our branding and messaging framework. We knew our target audience, but they helped us break it down further. They helped us refine the messaging we use with customers and investors, as well.
In particular, they helped us a lot with our messaging language about our brand promises, customer journey, and value proposition. They helped us identify our customer personas. The messaging they created will be used both internally and externally.
We already had a logo. (They provided other potential options and we decided to keep the one that we had.) In the end, they delivered a branding framework document with 35 PowerPoint slides.
What is the team composition?
Our primary point of contact was Bart (Owner & CMO). We’ve worked with both Bart and Marshall (Creative Director & Partner) to start planning messaging for our website.
How did you come to work with King Creative Co.?
We were connected to King Creative Co. through a business friend of ours. Once we started talking with them, we honed in on the most strategic place for us to start.
How much have you invested with them?
The cost has been $5,000 so far.
What is the status of this engagement?
We engaged them near the end of October 2019. The bulk of the work was finished in November of 2019. Bart sent us the deliverable in December of 2019.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
Anecdotally, their services have really provided our internal team with clarity about our branding. Their outside perspective was a helpful sounding board for our team. They helped us realize inconsistent points and get back on track. So, our team has been able to make decisions more effectively using Bart’s expertise.
How did King Creative Co. perform from a project management standpoint?
They use really great tools on HubSpot. It made it really easy to schedule meetings with them. Their proposals are very clear and well-explained. Bart thinks ahead, keeping future goals in mind when he’s making decisions. He would take notes from our meetings and share them with us.
What did you find most impressive about them?
They challenged us to think about important things because they want to see us succeed. Bart is a very authentic person with a ton of energy and passion. His advice leads us in the right direction. Also, he makes sure to listen to what is most important to us.
I also appreciate their dedication and authenticity. They make sure to check in with us to make sure we were aligned. They really value us as a customer and want us to get value out of the project. Their attention to this created the best experience we could have had because it allowed us to fix any potential issues quickly.
Are there any areas they could improve?
I can’t say that anything stands out. If anything wasn’t on-par, it was just a draft, not the thing we would be producing in the end. Bart was the first person to say that he isn’t detail-oriented in his drafts. The drafts were just to ensure we were on the right track before we continued down that way.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
You’re in good hands with them. Trust the process and speak up if your idea isn’t getting across. They’re really open, and they want to know if anything didn’t sync with us. Bart says what he means. I haven’t worked with Marshall much yet, but he seems like a really standup guy, too.
