Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the VP controller of a bank-owned consumer finance company.
What challenge were you trying to address with KEYSYS?
We wanted to be able to send secure loan packages to customers for signature, and we also needed to transfer documents with sensitive information back and forth.
What was the scope of their involvement?
They built a secure document transfer portal that also had an interface with DocuSign.
What is the team composition?
We worked with Mark (VP of Business Development) and Jim (CEO), but we mainly talked with 3–5 developers.
How did you come to work with KEYSYS?
We’re a wholly-owned subsidiary of a bank in Alabama, so we had a previous relationship with KEYSYS where they did a great job. Also, the fact that they’re local played a role in us deciding to go with them.
How much have you invested with them?
We spent around $60,000 with them.
What is the status of this engagement?
The project lasted from February 2019–November 2020. We had delays on our end due to several projects going on at the same time, so the engagement was dragged out.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
We measure success based on the feedback we receive from our branch staff, and they all seem to like it. This helped us handle loans completely remotely, especially with the COVID-19 pandemic. Customers can now apply for a loan, get it underwritten, sign the documents, and receive a direct money transaction without seeing each other. This escalated to the point where we now sign every single loan through this portal; KEYSYS completely changed the way we do business.
How did KEYSYS perform from a project management standpoint?
They were very responsive and great at meeting deadlines. We had times where we had to put down the project for some time based on how our business was doing. Whenever we called them to let them know that we were ready to start the work again, they immediately picked it back up.
What did you find most impressive about them?
KEYSYS had great responsiveness to the project. I wish we had done this sooner.
Are there any areas they could improve?
I can’t think of anything they can improve. One time we had a question on billing; I wanted more details and KEYSYS immediately got back to me with backup hours and notes explaining everything.
Any advice for potential customers?
Go with a plan and stick to it, and don’t allow for scope creep. Have a good, solid plan going on and that can keep the project on track.
KEYSYS handled a responsive process that led to changing the way a financial company conducts business. They adapted to the client’s needs and timeframes to deliver within their deadlines. The final product streamlined the overall processes for the company’s workflow.
