A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the co-author, along with my partner Jay Ledbetter, of a book of short stories concerning hunting, fishing, and camping.
What challenge were you trying to address with [XYZ Company]?
We decided to hire Kelsey (Founder & Copywriter, Kero Creative) to manage our social media pages—just to promote our work while my partner and I were busy with full-time jobs.
What was the scope of their involvement?
Kelsey managed our social media outlets, particularly Facebook. She finds or creates content that would be relevant to our work—like quotes from our stories—and posts it. She delivers a minimum of 4–5 posts a month.
In addition to that, the team responds to messages and manages our paid Facebook advertising. We get a monthly progress report which outlines both unsolicited connections and those that are the result of our paid advertising.
What is the team composition?
We work with Kelsey and a few others who were involved.
How did you come to work with Kero Creative?
We met Kelsey through the Outdoor Writers’ Association of America.
How much have you invested with them?
We’ve budgeted around $200 a month, so it’s been around $45,000 so far.
What is the status of this engagement?
We began working together in April of 2018, and it’s an ongoing partnership.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
Our monthly reports indicate that we’ve continued to experience steady growth in digital presence. Kelsey’s been proactive with coming up with good ideas to help us move forward. It has been very helpful having her navigate our social media since neither myself nor my partner is tech-oriented.
Their analyses have been useful, and they’ve done a good job of keeping in touch with people who connect to our website.
How did Kero Creative perform from a project management standpoint?
I’m sure that we’re a minor client of theirs, but they’ve always delivered our promotions and reports on time. We appreciate that fact.
What did you find most impressive about them?
Kelsey has been very open and helpful. She makes great recommendations about how to increase our customer engagement. Last week, she suggested that we do a book giveaway as a promotional effort.
Are there any areas they could improve?
We’re getting a lot more attention, but these haven’t translated into book sales as much as we’ve liked. Facebook might not be the most productive means of selling books, so we don’t fault them with that. We probably have to come up with a specific strategy to convert those online leads into actual sales.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
I recommend Kelsey. She’s very diligent and attentive.
