A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the founder of The Pathology Network LDT. We give software support to pathology labs in Africa.
What challenge were you trying to address with Kenya Website Designers?
We wanted them to help us design a web-based software platform that could be used by our clients at a low cost to them.
What was the scope of their involvement?
It was their responsibility to handle front- and backend development for the platform. We ended up managing the architecture and determining the flow of all the components on our end. They worked mainly with PHP and JavaScript to deliver the end product. There were a few other technologies used as well to create libraries within the lab information system.
They’re currently undertaking a major update on the platform, which started about three months ago.
What is the team composition?
I interacted with two people directly and had one main point of contact.
How did you come to work with Kenya Website Designers?
We were referred to them by a friend. After that, we had a meeting with them. I decided to give them the job based on that interaction.
How much have you invested with them?
In total, we’ve spent $5,000–$10,000.
What is the status of this engagement?
We’ve been working on the project as a whole since October 2018 and continue to employ their resources for updates to the platform.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
They’re very detailed, meticulous, taking time to ensure the code is stable. It’s clear that he puts thought into his work. I’m satisfied with the work he’s completed.
How did Kenya Website Designers perform from a project management standpoint?
While the quality of his work is excellent, it can be difficult for him and his team to hit deadlines that we set. Although, they do their best to keep our timelines and always picks up when I call. He’s incredibly responsive.
What did you find most impressive about them?
I recommend Kenya Website Designers because they’re easygoing and good collaborators. Their personality and attitude toward his work is the biggest plus in our relationship.
Are there any areas they could improve?
If possible, it would be great if he could expand the capacity of his team to meet the given timelines.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
You need to have a clear idea of what you want before engaging with them. That’ll help to reign in the project and avoid scope creep.
The team delivered solid code, enabling enhanced functionality to the lab information platform. While they took on a slower project pacing than expected, they showed dedication and positive attitudes throughout the development. Their communication skills added value to the collaboration.
