William Russell Kelly founded the company in Detroit on October 7, 1946, operating as the Russell Kelly Office Service. He is widely credited with pioneering the modern temporary help industry. The company was renamed Kelly Girl Service in 1957, and it became Kelly Services® in 1966 to reflect the growing services of the company. 

In 1968, Kelly Services opened its first international office in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The company’s first European office opened in 1972 in Paris, France. Today, we offer a full suite of outsourcing, consulting, and staffing solutions—delivered globally from over a 70-year heritage of dynamic talent innovations.

At one point we did do this in-house but it proved to be more efficient to source this process out. We found that the individuals sent were much more appropriate.

They can avoid clerical staffing functions.

What were your company’s goals for the partnership with them?

Our goal was to cut down on the process of long and recall interviews and hire people who were already ready and willing to work.

In the beginning, we were billed weekly for temps we hired.

We like to expand our searches and find candidates that might not even know we are looking for a position that they might be perfect for. Kelly Services has always found us professional clients that are valuable to our organization.

What types of work functions can your internal staff avoid by hiring an HR consulting firm?

We don't have to take time away from our staff's regular work schedule that previously might have included screening, calling interviewees, and then taking the time to actually interview the person with a follow up afterward for each client. All of this is very time-consuming.

What were your company’s goals for the partnership with them?

We know that Kelly Services will find us candidates that are a good fit for our organization, are professional and can handle the transition with ease.

Could you describe their pricing structure and how they bill you?

We usually work with them and are offered a package deal at the beginning of our dealings. We both agree on what is needed to be done and are both happy with the end result.

We never used to use recruiting companies before. Since we found Kelly Services, we tend to use them for most of our hirings.

They save us an enormous amount of time in the way of not having to do the tedious paperwork that goes along with the hiring process. We also save money in advertising several different places.

They are a very professional company that always strives to put their best foot forward and won't stop until they feel comfortable finding us the best candidate for the position we are offering.

Their strengths are that they are professional, attentive to detail, organized and a very well-respected company within our area.
