A logistic company, present in more than 90 countries was challenged to predict business revenue and profit in advance, so that it could make longer term investment decisions with more confidence. An added-value would be if location-specific projections were available.
Our Solution
Kalinax examined 5 years of history of bookings and revenue data and built customized models which predict the likely revenue in the next year - where and when will the demand, booking and revenue hit. Predictive analytics for customer churn
Challenge
An e-commerce company running a subscription-based business faced the issue of having too many cancellations. Kalinax was commissioned to examine available data and help understand why customers were unsubscribing from the product and also build a model which helps the business reduce the number of cancellations.
Our Solution
Kalinax examined 5 years of history of subscriptions and cancellations and then built models which identified those customers that are at higher risk of cancellation. The business could examine the risk of churn per location or product type, as well as over time. The models also provided insight on which key factors had most influence on cancellations.

Macroeconomic analysis with predictive analytics
Challenge
A multinational manufacturer struggling to predict demand in Argentina commissioned Kalinax to develop models that can help management better forecast demand and adjust operations as well as strategic decisions.
Our Solution
Kalinax built models based on historical company data as well as macroeconomic indicators which had an impact on demand in the country. The results were packaged in a visual solution, and coupled with a macroeconomic analysis every three months.

Sales Team Profit Maximization
The objective of our consulting partner and their telecom client was to maximize the profit of the international sales team - an initiative which, if successful, would impact Operations, Revenue steam and of course the overall profitability.
Through a 360-degree data review, our team identified a list of actions that would impact the profits of the sales team. In turn, each action required some models to be built (AI), reporting to be set up and also some measures (KPIs) and dashboards to track progress.
We enabled decision makers to build scenarios and drive meaningful actions, informed by big data and tracked in real time. One of the actions tracked alone (see below) brought an over 17% of revenue increase and a 12% increase in profits (vs. previous 12 months).

Visualization of ML and Analytics Insights
Our client was looking for a new automated dashboard to showcase the findings of ML algorithms and other analytics solutions which the in-house team had built over the years. Also, this new product would automate the delivery to new clients.
The main objective for Kalinax was to bring all the value of the millions of insights into a limited number of slides and help turn these data points into a digestable, yet automated, data story.
Our team designed a new demo product (Power BI and Tableau) which brought some new perspectives on how to extract optimal value from the ML and AI insights. It also automated the process, saving 17 manhours per week.

Room prize optimization
Challenge
An international hotel group which uses custom-built as well as turnkey solutions to manage bookings, promotions and pricing commissioned Kalinax to look into historical data across key locations and identify any potentially missed opportunities. The analysis looked at different room types and whether promotions were applied.
Our Solution
Kalinax examined series of internal and external indicators and KPIs and built models that calculate the optimal price of each booking. Then, the models compare this optimal price to actual and predicted bookings and indicates optimization opportunities. The business can make specific changes which target combinations of product and locations where the impact of a change would be greatest.

We have already worked with them in the past. They are extremely professionals, they are very proficient in the subject and always give us the best result. Regardless if we are talking about the technical aspects or consultancy area.

The last project was related to courses about advanced utilities of DAX Language, Segmenters and Markers, in data visualization. But this is only one of many.

Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the former intelligence director for a multinational logistics services company. My role included driving innovation across the four business units of the company through partnerships with other science agencies and leveraging technology and database tools.
What challenge were you trying to address with Kalinax?
The company had a long history and a lot of data to go along with that history. We needed support leveraging, structuring, and ultimately making sense of that data so we could provide leadership with actionable insights.
What was the scope of their involvement?
Kalinax’s responsibility was to consult on how to handle and analyze our available data. They primarily helped us to predict the likelihood of future events in regard to customer activity, including points like when we could expect spikes and troughs of new volume. These predictions were made from a large dataset that was entered into prediction engines and algorithms built off them.
What is the team composition?
Kolyo (Founder & CEO) was our main point of contact. Behind the scenes, we also worked with data analysts and scientists, who were responsible for building the algorithms and developing visualization applications.
What is the status of this engagement?
The engagement lasted from June 2014–January 2019.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
Kalinax added a great deal of internal value to our company. The accuracy of the predictions the team gave was incredibly high — at least 10% above industry norms. We even celebrated some of their early findings in various publications.
Ultimately, their work brought enlightenment and a different perspective within the company and helped drive the business forward effectively.
Overall, the engagement was very positive, demonstrating the quality of both their leadership and their broader workforce. They’re a dynamic, young company that’s ahead of the data science curve both in terms of the applications they work with and the caliber of their deliverables.
