I’m the owner of Idle Time Ventures, a boutique meeting and event management company.

What challenge were you trying to address with JSP Creative?

I was managing small events for a client, a faith-based organization working against alcohol and drug addiction. They wanted a video produced for their 60th-anniversary project.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

JSP not only produced the video, they also shot it. Their expertise laid in creating both the storyboard and the content, which outlined the organization’s accomplishments as well as their plans for the future.

The project was national, so we traveled with the crew across various cities. Together, we handled all logistics, from flights, crew schedules, equipment lists, and more.

I worked with Jerry (Producer & Director) and the team that supported him.

How did you come to work with JSP Creative?

I’ve known Jerry for years, through a past business partner, and I knew he had some background in nonprofit — specifically faith-based organizations. I knew he’d be a great fit for this project, so I reached out to JSP Creative.

How much have you invested with them?

We spent about $160,000 on the project.

What is the status of this engagement?

The engagement with JSP Creative took place from July 2017 – February 2018.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

We tracked some milestones in regard to internal and client-facing goals. JSP Creative met every expectation. We had a tight timeline as we focused on having a continuous look across several locations, and the team executed well within it.

How did JSP Creative perform from a project management standpoint?

JSP Creative exceeded our project management expectations, providing detailed timelines, project plans, and milestones. Jerry was very accessible throughout the whole project, remaining transparent in regard to schedules and stakeholders on his end. We always knew we’d have answers to questions we had during meetings.

What did you find most impressive about them?

When I shared the vision my client was looking for with the video, I knew I could rely on JSP Creative to develop a concept that told the story we wanted. As soon as we communicated what we wanted to convey, the team ran with it and created exactly what we were looking for. They focused on the client’s mission, interweaving key characteristics and traits to produce something extremely high caliber.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No. JSP Creative met all of our expectations and provided a seamless experience for us and our client.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Give an overarching mission or goal of the video production project. Also, ask JSP Creative to come back with a storyline within the duration parameters that references or incorporates all their past experiences. That will provide your client with a great deal of confidence, because they’ve had great success across other industries and genres.

I’m the former group vice president of Toyota Financial Services.

What challenge were you trying to address with JSP Creative?

We needed someone to do our video production.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

JSP Creative was responsible for most of our key video elements, whether it was a specific event or a series of video vignettes that we could use for training or informational purposes for our dealers. They did all of the scripting, sound, editing, mixing, and the final product. 

They did some extensive brand work with us for Lexus from 2000–2005 until we had gotten to the point where we were ready to communicate that to the public as well as with our dealers. They helped us build a business portfolio and were involved in a national dealer meeting we had. During particular meetings, they were responsible for a variety of different video vignettes. Some of the videos were live and some were prerecorded, but they shot them and laid down tape. 

We used them again in 2015 with a cut of financial services. They were involved with a number of projects for us. We would go to our call center in Cedar Rapids, Iowa and they would be there for 3–4 days to shoot videos of team members. We had three call centers in a video, so they had to go to each location.

How did you come to work with JSP Creative?

I got to know them through another sales company in 1989 and our relationship evolved from there.

How much have you invested with them?

We invested over $1 million with them in total.

What is the status of this engagement?

We worked together from 1989–January 2019 when I retired.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

JSP Creative received a lot of positive feedback from our team and we tracked their work based on audience appeal. We always did assessments of their work post-meeting whether it was a national dealer meeting or a national sales conference. I knew if I was comfortable with their work, then dealers around the country would be too.

How did JSP Creative perform from a project management standpoint?

They were always very clear in regard to what the timeline looked like and who was responsible for what as far as securing talent, casting, location, shoots, and timing on pre- and post-production. They were always on time and on budget.

What did you find most impressive about them?

One of their strong suits was their ability to work with large marketing departments and be very flexible and accommodating. They were able to take a lot of feedback and make adjustments to whatever is needed. They were very patient, understanding, and always willing to listen to everyone on the team.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, there was nothing.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Be clear upfront about what you want to accomplish and make sure the creative brief is exactly what you’re looking for. Then, just let them run with it.

My company is called P.J. Video Services. We’re a full-service production company. We provide cameras, crews, and editing services for a myriad of projects like corporate videos, church productions, movies, and television shows.

What challenge were you trying to address with JSP Creative?

We hire them for a variety of projects. They handle the content creation and we handle the execution. They’re very creative in writing, producing, scripting, and coordinating, while we’re more of the technical side.

What was the scope of their involvement?

I usually hire them to do the frontend part of a project, like creating a creative concept, writing a script, and producing it given the budget we have.

How did you come to work with JSP Creative?

I met Jerry (Founder) 40 years ago. My dad hired him to work at a TV station, and we became fast friends. He has always been creative and a great writer. So, when he started his own company, he truly thrived. Over the last thirty years, we’ve worked back and forth. I’ve hired him, he has hired me. We’ve probably done a hundred projects together.

How much have you invested with them?

Over the years, between $50,000–$199,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

I’ve been working with him since he started his company, so about 1990.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

The projects I’ve hired him for have really pleased our clients over the years. No production is perfect, but with experience like theirs, they’re in the 99th percentile. People are always pleased at the end of the run. They’re amazing at taking a client’s idea and bringing it to a whole new level.

How did JSP Creative perform from a project management standpoint?

Very good. Every project is different, but they follow every level of professional protocol for hiring actors, crew, and travel, that sort of thing. They’ve paid their dues, and everything runs smoothly now.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Number one—experience. They’ve been down this road before, and there’s no substitute for experience. Jerry is also inherently creative.

Are there any areas they could improve?

Not really. Maybe they have been a little slow to adapt to new technologies, like Google Maps to track sunrises and time and stuff like that.  But that’s why we bring in younger people to fill in the gaps.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Be clear with your vision. As long as the client knows what they want, Jerry can make it amazing. If not, that’s where we can get in trouble, but that’s very rare.
