Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the CEO of BWI Enterprise, an industrial manufacturer and supplier of industrial bags as well as some construction and agricultural supplies.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with The Joyce Group Inc.?

We lost our founder and were in need of succession planning services.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

The Joyce Group came in and had a look at the state of our business. We had them make some recommendations in terms of operations and who would be taking charge moving forward. They took into account things like what was going on with our finances and customers. By the end of the project, we’d completed an 80-page business plan.

What is the team composition?

We worked with two individuals.

How did you come to work with The Joyce Group Inc.?

We worked with them about five or six years ago. For this project, we needed to find someone quickly, and we already had an established relationship with them. They were a good fit for our organization. 

How much have you invested with them?

The total spend will be around $17,500 CAD (approximately $13,000 USD).

What is the status of this engagement?

We’ve been working together since July 2019. We’re working with them now on an export line as well as on an international trade level.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

The Joyce Group, in their business continuity planning, identified an overage of inventory. With their help, we were able to reduce our inventory holdings by approximately $100,000. 

How did The Joyce Group Inc. perform from a project management standpoint?

We use Microsoft Outlook for email communication, which is the main way we stay in touch. For the scope of our project, it worked well. The team communicated consistently, were great at following up, and were very polite.  Prior to COVID, they were okay with coming to our site, which was good, because we could do business in person.

The Joyce Group always let us know what our part in the process was and what they needed to move forward to the next step. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

They were instrumental in helping us maintain operations after we went through a hard time. They’re a good company.

Are there any areas they could improve?

Ray (President) has a strong passion for business, which I welcome and find great, but others might feel he’s too intense.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Make sure you’re giving them the information they need, so they can help you. If you don’t, it’s going to ultimately lead to a delay in the project, which might lead to an unsatisfied customer.
