We worked with Iterators starting in 2020. They helped our software product, which was essentially a question-based roadmap that helped guide users on what to build. It required connecting our business logic with a backend that would return results for users. 

This initial build eventually scaled to a second product line, allowing users to test ideas in a Monadic approach. The team builds the front and backend. They synced with us weekly to deliver and iterate on the different aspects of the project.

We needed a technology and product team to build the first version of our platform.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Since working with them as a young startup, Iterators has built several versions of our platform to date. Initially, they designed and built the architecture of our original platform using Scala, Node.js, and Python. They also built microservices using FastAPI and enabled automated deployment using proper CI/CD methods.

The Iterators team has continued to add functionality to our platform and support us with ongoing maintenance. They typically launch new features on AWS or Azure.

We’ve worked with about seven team members, including two frontend developers, two backend developers, and two designers.

We found Iterators through a local referral.

We’ve worked with Iterators since June 2020; the partnership is ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

Iterators has delivered 110% of what we asked for, and we’ve been really happy with the results.  We’ve measured success by how closely the team has followed our requirements and the response from our customers. We have our QA process, and the feedback from our internal testers has mainly been positive. 

Our customers have also responded well to the platform and shared valuable suggestions for improvements. Iterators has put our customers first; they’ve gone above and beyond to adapt the product to better meet their needs. Their developers have done a fantastic job; they’re technically skilled superstar programmers. When we’ve attempted to hire developers internally, we’ve struggled to identify developers of a similar caliber to Iterators; they’re superior. 

How did Iterators perform from a project management standpoint?

Iterators has consistently met deadlines and submitted good-quality deliverables. We’ve mostly worked remotely but met them in person once or twice. We started out managing the project in Jira, which was great. Then, when we took over the design portion, we requested to switch to ClickUp. They’ve adapted to our changing needs, and we’ve been pleased with the workflow. 

Additionally, we’ve greatly appreciated their flexibility and willingness to accommodate our customers. Due to being a young startup, we’ve encountered several scope changes resulting from customer feedback. In those instances, Iterators has gone above and beyond to develop new features well ahead of schedule. They’ve dedicated a team of over-achievers to our project, which we’re thrilled about.

We’ve been most impressed by Iterators’ hands-on approach to our project. They’ve taken the time to explain each project stage thoroughly, and we’ve leaned on them when making architectural decisions. When brainstorming the pros and cons of different software solutions, Iterators has outlined the impact that each path could have on our project. They’ve immersed themselves in our product development process and have become an integral part of our team.

It would be great if we could work with more people from Iterators because they have such a highly-skilled team of engineers.

I’d highly recommend working with Iterators if you need a product development partner who can adapt to change and become part of your team. Rather than just delivering software, Iterators will work alongside you to achieve your desired results.

What challenge were you trying to address with Iterators?

We wanted to build a Slack integration into our platform. We're an early-stage startup and didn't have the resources to make integration development a top priority. 

We decided to outsource the project because it didn't require a lot of internal knowledge.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Iterators fully developed the Slack integration feature for our platform. We started with a discovery process — they provided us with project management services and helped define the product requirements. 

They built a product spec of what the product would look like, how it would be built, and how it would work. They then diagramed the basics of the integration and showed us how it would integrate into our platform. 

We had a few review sessions before they developed the final product.

I worked with 3–4 teammates from Iterators. 

How did you come to work with Iterators?

A teammate of mine hired them. We were looking for a partner that already had experience working with Slack integrations. This wasn't Iterators' first time working in Slack integrations, and they were knowledgeable about the industry — they had the expertise to deliver for us and were very responsive. 

How much have you invested with them?

We spent around $20,000 with Iterators. 

What is the status of this engagement?

We worked together from March–September 2021. However, we'll be working with them again when we do more iterations of the feature.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

We are tracking some metrics, including user engagement, but we haven't rolled out the feature enough to have anything conclusive. 

However, we have shown several of our customers the Slack integration feature, and they're excited about it and how much it will help them. 

How did Iterators perform from a project management standpoint?

They had their own Jira board that they shared with us and we communicated daily over Slack.

It was a very iterative development process. We had weekly update calls so we could sync up on the project process. The Iterators team ensured that we provided them with the work they needed from our end to finish product development, including notification triggers.

Even when we had to expand the scope of work, the Iterators team was flexible and did extra work for us. 

The final deliverable ended up a little behind schedule, but that was because my team was behind on their coding. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

Iterators had an excellent level of service — they were on top of everything and pushed us to get tasks done. They were responsive, and their timeliness made for a pleasant work environment and a good working relationship. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

It would have been helpful if we had begun using the Jira board earlier in the development process — it wasn't available to us from day one and made it harder to track the project.

Clients need to collaborate and set up expectations and a solid communication method with Iterators.

I chose Iterators after an analysis of the supplier market and recommendations. What convinced me was a comprehensive approach to the project, professional advice and a very flexible approach to parallel work. I wanted the UX / UI / Development / Database competences to be in one team.

The works were performed comprehensively. After I prepared the brief, the team prepared a technical feasibility study. We did market research, designed mock-ups (UX / UI), got a server recommendation, participated in every stage of the work, received support in publishing the application, and implemented analytics. We worked in sprints and applied the lean methodology.

We provide a personalized solution for intelligent digital therapy in a subscription system, helping to cure addiction and supporting the therapy of mental health problems. We offer all forms of communication (chat, video, telephone conversation) though a dedicated application. We provide 24/7 access to a closed community that providers strong supports and motivates.

We offer the possibility of remote work for therapists (marketplace) supporting them with AI-driven tools for analysis and dedicated questionnaires for patients - the SUPERTHEARAPIST panel

We implemented already new version of the app to majority of our customers, and we have very positive response in both design and quality areas. New App is much more stable, more consistent between iOS and Android and works faster.

Most valuable was proactive approach, understanding the reasons for our functional request. They were able to criticise some of them and provide better substitutes. I am grateful for working with Iterators, it saved us time and money.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Iterators is providing us with a full-service engineering team. They’re doing front- and backend development and database hosting of our platform.

Iterators are working on various technologies, including AWS, DigitalOcean, and other web-based applications. They’ve also built a video-based product and an assessment product for us, and they’ve done a significant amount of security development for our enterprise clients.

Additionally, Iterators has provided us with some minimal design work, and they’ve handled our platform’s UX/UI. They’ve also supported our technology roadmap; Jacek (Managing Partner) performed as our interim CTO several times. 

Iterators is also providing us with support for any server issues that may come up with our customers. They’ve also updated our marketing website.

A lot of it had to do with their communication skills and ability to be a good partner as a remote development team. That said, their pricing was just within the market rate, and it didn’t affect our decision to work with them.
