A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m a senior technical manager of a technology team in a business school.
What challenge were you trying to address with Instructure?
We were trying to acquire a learning management system.
What was the scope of their involvement?
Instructure provides us with a learning management system called Canvas LMS. they gathered the initial requirements from us, which they used to develop a digital learning solution. They then implemented this solution in our system, service, and environment, and now, we are currently using it.
Moreover, we are working on different plugins that we can put in the system.
What is the team composition?
There were about six people who came to the presentation about Canvas, where they talked about its features. Since then, we've been working with around 30—40 people. We collaborate with different departments who are in charge of working on different things to achieve different results. We worked with the tender team, then the procurement team, the accounts team, which is followed by the CSM team, and now we’re working with the support team.
How did you come to work with Instructure?
We shortlisted Instructure, during a tender process with about 3–4 different suppliers.
How much have you invested with them?
We’ve invested between £100,000–£500,000 (Approximately $137,800–$680,000 USD).
What is the status of this engagement?
Our ongoing partnership started in January 2018.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
We run more than 300 programs a year, and all of those are using Canvas LMS. the system has a really big impact on our numbers and it has increased our capabilities of delivering our digital programs. Initially, the system was good. We started working with them when we required an additional feature, and they found a different solution and so far, our experience has been good.
We continually monitor feedback from all our participants. We used to get 3.2–3.5 ratings on our previous system, but after launching the new one, we’re getting around 4.2–4.8 ratings. Sometimes we get a 5 rating which is very good.
How did Instructure perform from a project management standpoint?
They’re good at managing the project, and we never really had a problem with managing the project from the inside.
What did you find most impressive about them?
Our experience working with a big company is similar to the service Instructure is providing us. They are very good customer support managers. Whenever we try to reach them, they reply to us on time. They prioritize the customers and requirements and our overall experience with them has been satisfactory.
Are there any areas they could improve?
I think they’re okay, and we are good with what they’re providing us.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
If a company is looking to build their system through Canvas, I would suggest they start with a small requirement. Be specific with what you require and implement them one at a time rather than the whole project altogether. We found that it was difficult for them to provide us with the exact answers when we threw everything at them. Start small so Instructure can produce good results.
The client is satisfied with the system and has been implementing the solution to run their 300 digital programs. it has positively impacted their capabilities to deliver their services, and it continuously garners positive responses from external stakeholders.
