Greensmith Energy partnered with Indeform to design and implement a subsystem for custom energy storage data visualization, monitoring and control. By utilizing interactive 3D Web visualizations of devices, modules and connections, we cooperatively worked on real-time states of grid energy storage. By the same token, we worked on implementing the monitoring of alarms and warnings and on a system for data visualization and control. We enhanced data management with control of data layers, color coding, data comparison and introduced visualizations of different states and parameters of devices, such as currents, voltages and temperatures of the accumulation batteries. By implementing interactive customized multichannel 2D data plotting and comparison, we facilitated decision-making, efficiency analysis, monitoring and data management in different ranges of time and date.

EasyCAD - A cloud-powered 3D CAD designer, integrated with e-commerce product catalogues, checkout and shipping

EasyBuild partnered with Indeform to create EasyCad, a cloud-based platform that easily lets anyone design and edit models of 3D cubes on a Web browser. We developed a way to design and visualize the product so it can be seen rendered in an interactive 3D environment. Moreover, we made it possible for the user to adjust the colors or dimensions quickly and with ease. We designed it with intelligence and easy-to-use in mind so

users could calculate measurements, adapt, change and rearrange the content until it fits the style of the floor plan perfectly. To enable the users to share their creations and find new designs every day, we implemented a community-driven design database. We made it easy to do the pricing calculations, checkout and integrated shipping, once the user finds the design satisfactory and ready. Cloud-based Computing for Rehabilitation of Post-Traumatic Fine Motor Disorders

Indeform cooperated with rehabilitation centers in Lithuania and Kaunas Academy of Arts on research and development of post-stroke, post-traumatic fine hand motor disorders rehabilitation platform. Such disorders are common after, for example, heart attacks, injuries, burning or other accidents that afflict hand, arm or palm areas. The product is intended for use by an occupational therapist and the patient. Key product

features include remote rehabilitation and the opportunity for communication, fast navigation, the possibility of higher resolution, preservation of information, timing, dynamics, performance collection, evaluation capability and so on. We developed a cloud-based training system for post-traumatic small motor disorders rehabilitation system with process monitoring and statistical analysis of the main features. These features include the ability to remotely monitor the patient’s treatment and excellence process, assess the patient’s condition, adjust the exercise difficulty levels, add supplementary exercises and assess their effectiveness when compared to different patients’ treatment progress results. All data should be transmitted through the Internet connection and automatically stored in a database. The software will be installed on a personal visit, and all data will be available only to the doctor and the patient, which is ensured by providing a user name and a password. The doctor will automatically have access to the advisory report with the results presented in different shapes as well as analyzed and generalized from different angles.

An interactive 3D WebGL jewelry customization platform which allows consumers to design their own jewelry in minutes

Kindred Brands Inc. partnered with Indeform on the Troupe project to challenge Interactive 3D Web with real-time photorealism, data and rendering speed optimizations, geometry, vector math, GLSL, e-commerce integration, management and rendering of backend servers as all-in-one solution. One of the tasks was to design and create a super simple jewelry customization tool that worked like a LEGO. The idea was that to create

jewelry, the user would have to snap 3D objects in real-time together from an extensive jewelry designers’ community library or convert any 2D image to 3D. Anyone should be able to take an image and turn it into brass, silver or gold jewelry. If customers wanted to make a pendant of their dog, they would have to upload a photo and they would be good to go. Once the customers’ design was complete, they should be able buy it or sell it on the Troupe marketplace. Another challenging task was to design and develop backend cloud management for printable 3D generation and rendering. We developed sophisticated tasks management and distribution methods for 3D printing-ready mesh generation and rendering.

Troupe brings custom jewelry to the masses by using self-service to remove today’s complexity and cost. They made it possible for anyone to design their own jewelry, set up a store to sell online, and shop for other custom jewelry from designers all over the world. As a purely virtual inventory platform, Troupe can realistically expect to become the largest topical jewelry store in the world, and we are very proud to put our expertise in it.

Lithuania’s leading events organizers, Publicum Events, always seeks to create exceptional and memorable events. One of such special cases was Christmas, year 2012. They needed a truly special event that had to take place in the breathtakingly beautiful capital of Lithuania – Vilnius. The event was supposed to combine amazing public experiences and advanced technologies.

Where there is magic, there are we. In early 2012,

Publicum Events cooperated with Indeform to create a unique interactive real-time 3D Santa Claus projection that is powered by cutting-edge motion capture technology. We were responsible for delivering this advanced technological solution on time – extended deadlines, obviously, being out of the question. We designed and developed a control system for an interactive Santa Claus avatar, which was controlled in real-time through six high-speed motion capture (MOCAP) cameras. We created the 3D Santa avatar – an animated 3D character enhanced with GPU special effects, micro motions and dynamic lighting. We also developed a dynamic composition of real-time rendered avatar with a video stream background to create beautiful and warm Christmas atmosphere. This made different secondary characters like dwarfs, deer and angels available as well; they could jump in to create a story or sing a karaoke together with the impressed audience.

Interactive, 3D Web based Virtual Clothing platform for e-Commerce

To create a fashion-related social network, Virtual Outfits desperately needed a solution for virtual clothing and to have a 3D avatar, which would give a good real-time performance on both, Web and mobile. The main requirements were to dress the avatars in paper-doll manner with the possibility to change their body measurements, face and skin color, hair and clothing style. They trusted Indeform to satisfy these

requirements.

The initial challenge of the project was to create adjustable animated 3D bodies of men and women. We modeled 3D avatars and created a parametric skeletal system so that users could adjust height, the width of hips, shoulders and the size of the abdomen area. Avatars also needed to walk on a stage, show the piece of clothing they were wearing, and ask other users’ opinions about their look. On the next step, we created smart interactive tools to automatically apply user face and skin color to the body by just having a photo of a face, also allowing to change the model’s hairstyle. The next challenge was developing a clothing system. We developed parametric 3D models of clothing with special features that allow adjusting the shape, style and texture with the photo projection method when only having photos of the front and the rear view of the piece. We created an onion-style automatic clothing algorithms to support underwear, like shirts and T-shirts as well as outerwear, like pants, jackets or coats, all of which automatically overlay nicely onto each other.

An interactive 3D rainwater system installation instruction for Web and mobile

Ruukki Construction develops high quality roof and rainwater systems. They needed a demo of a guide that would provide the instructions for assembling the rainwater systems via an interactive visual experience, which could be easily accessed and shared on the Web or mobile.

Ruukki partnered with Indeform to create an interactive online demo for installing the rainwater system. We worked closely with the client to create

sketches for the sequence of the installation steps and script for the potential scenario. Our 3D artists created 3D models of the rainwater system parts and tools required for assembling the rainwater system. We divided the process of installation into ten separate steps and created preparation and construction animations for each. All 3D assets and textures were then transferred to our customized in-house developed 3D WebGL engine, in which programmers completed the interactive presentation and put everything in place.

Interactive 3D online video explainers on Web browsers is a great way for the users to become active participants in the learning process. Instead of simply watching the installation videos and being passive observers, the viewers get a close to hands-on experience. That is because interactivity offers much more possibilities for delivering virtual content and interacting with it in a number of ways. Muscle Beach in Venice, California - Interactive 3D Online Experience

Muscle Beach has its roots in an exclusive Santa Monica location, the birthplace of the physical fitness boom in the US during the 20th century, which started in 1934, with predominantly gymnastics activities on the south side of the Santa Monica Pier. Muscle Beach Venice was officially given its current name in 1987 by the City of Los Angeles. The distinguishing proper name, Venice, was added to honor the original Santa Monica

site. The contemporary Muscle Beach Venice is located two blocks north of Venice Boulevard on Ocean Front Walk in Venice, California, USA.

Muscle Beach is the most famous US gym area that has great history and a lot of famous names associated with it. In 2014, they were looking for an innovative and shareable way to introduce the entire new vision of the reconstructed Muscle Beach Venice gym area. They partnered with Indeform to build an immersive interactive 3D online experience which could be shared with the press, followers and visitors on the Web and mobile devices.

We were tight on time and eager to start, so we dove into working on it immediately. In spite of having only some photo references and a rough sketch plan of the area, our 3D artists recreated 3D models of the gym machines and the old area itself so the virtual presentation could introduce the current (previous) state of the gym. Next, they actively cooperated with the client to create the new Muscle Beach – with the new reconstructed gym and all the new shiny gym machines. An engaging Kaunas Castle siege online experience for Interactive 3D Web and Mobile

Kaunas City Museum was actively looking for an innovative online experience and easy-to-share ways for portraying the history of Kaunas and the important moment of the first fortified Lithuanian castle – Kaunas Castle – being under siege. They partnered with Indeform to create an interactive Web-based 3D representation of the siege, aiming to engage students and tourists by telling this historical story on the Web browsers or

mobile devices. From the very start, we worked on developing this project with strong passion and interest. With the help of historians, archaeologists and specialists of the Medieval warfare, we reconstructed a story line of the siege battles and created screenboards. Next followed all the artwork and designs of the Medieval castle, soldiers and siege weapons. We created a low poly 3D model of the castle and villages around. Working with the specialists of the Medieval warfare, we reconstructed the soldiers and siege weapons as well. All models had to be optimized to run on our in-house developed 3D WebGL engine. Later, as 3D content and assets were ready to go, we animated and programmed all the interactive parts of this virtual exhibit. We also optimized it to run on Web browsers and mobile tablets so the representation could be used as an interactive demonstration on tablets in the museum expositions.

An Interactive Virtual Host - a Virtual 3D Avatar that interacted with the audience in Real-Time

Publicum Events is Lithuania’s leading events organizer, which is trusted by well-known brands and companies. In 2016, they needed to create an event for the 15th anniversary of the celebrity magazine Žmonės (Eng. People). It was a special occasion and Publicum Events wanted to create something exceptional and with a surprise inside. The host – a beautiful virtual girl avatar – and a male actor who, as it turned out, was

actually the one giving a live performance behind her, were a combo that definitely achieved the wow factor.

Publicum Events cooperated with Indeform to get this done and delivered on time and on budget. We designed a 3D virtual staging environment. We modeled, rigged and created small motoric animations for the beautiful 3D girl avatar, which was then attached for full body animation (real-time motion animation) with six high-speed motion capture (MOCAP) cameras. We used our custom-developed versatile Linux multimedia system that is powered by OpenGL and GLSL to run real-time motion controlled 3D host avatar and dynamically combine it with video stream background to create celebrity talk show-like atmosphere and environment.

According to the press reviews, it was another highly successful event by Publicum Events, and we are happy to know that our expertise and technology took this show to a new impressive and spectacular level.

An Interactive Attraction for Kids and Tourists – a Motion Controlled Animated legendary Knight

Every castle that still remembers old historical times, wars and mighty knights, has its own legends and secrets. Kaunas castle is not an exception. Legend has it that in the dungeon of the castle, the legendary duke Vaidotas and his warriors are still on guard. The elderly say that if the city is to face grave problems, the knight and his brave men will awake from the dungeons and rise to defend the old castle and the city

surrounding it. Kaunas City Museum wanted to recreate this exact legend and show it to its visitors.

Kaunas City Museum started its collaboration with the Indeform team by looking for a possible solution. We started working at once. We analysed the possibilities, selected modern interactive technical solutions, designed the software, created the potential scenarios and the main character – an interactive Kaunas castle ghost knight Vaidotas. We realized from the very beginning who the visitors of the museum are going to be, so we put our best effort into creating a modern and jolly 3D ghost that would be motion controlled, interactive and very attractive to children and tourists. To make the project come to life, we used projection equipment and skeleton-based motion capture; we also developed software, the character and its animations. Our team and the Kaunas City Museum staff are pleased with the result. The interactive ghost has no time to waste or get bored, it brings children and tourists lots of joy and laughter, at the same time revealing its legend and the history of the castle.

Introduce your business and what you do there.

We produce plastic modular building systems, including floors and walls, which are traditionally made out of wood or metal. We manufacture these through injection-molding. I am the founder of the company.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with Indeform?

We have been developing our own 3D software for the last ten years, and have used a number of partners. There were always technical challenges, and previous developers weren't always able to deliver the work.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Indeform developed a cloud-based 3D modeler from scratch using JavaScript and WebGL, based on the solution we'd created in the past. The platform is similar to a kitchen planner but doesn't require any downloads or installations on the user side. Our modeler can work on any web browser.

We had a back-and-forth process around specifications. We assigned the wireframing and development of our framework to Indeform. They also built a shell around that to embed the tool into our website. The system can also calculate shipping costs and features a CMS [customer management system].

One of our platform’s most interesting feature is an algorithm through which users can generate intelligent assembly guidelines in-browser. Modules can be scaled automatically, with the number of parts and their size being calculated automatically. It's quite impressive, considering that it's not a simple array, but rather a room-based 3D assembly. These are features which are only now being developed for SketchUp as plug-ins.

We have communicated with a single contact from Indeform's side and also used a bug-reporting tool.

Our company works internationally, so we have partners from multiple locations. We considered other developers and ultimately chose Indeform because of their professional communication.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Could you share any evidence that would demonstrate the productivity, quality of work, or the impact of the engagement?

We are very happy with the product. Some users found the system easier to use than others, but we don't have any concrete analytics. People's experience with the platform has been positive in general, though. We are about to launch a new version which will track user statistics. The statistic will give us a better overview of the platform.

There will always be bugs in projects like ours. The question is around how fast and proficient Indeform is in fixing them. There have been some persistent issues, but most bugs are quickly resolved.

How did Indeform perform from a project management standpoint?

Indeform has been more than professional, compared to other suppliers. If we were to increase the scope of our work, we would probably adopt a collaborative project management system and move away from the one-sided approach. We haven't had any deadline issues, and the communication has been good. We had frequent Skype conversations in the early years, but we mainly keep in touch through spreadsheets, overviews, and quick emails.

What did you find most impressive about Indeform?

Indeform can solve problems and make things happen.

Are there any areas Indeform could improve?

If Indeform wants to grow, the company needs to hire more account managers to act as in-betweens. We haven't personally had a problem with this, though.

We’re currently in the beta testing stage. Users have provided positive feedback on how easy it is to create a presentation with our software and how easy it is to see content on augmented reality. Our development team together with Indeform are the key to this success.

Indeform met all deadlines and adhered to the budget. We’ve been working together for almost two years, and we’ve developed a good relationship. We’ve learned the parameters with which Indeform works best, such as giving them two-week timelines rather than one week. Indeform knows a lot of programming languages, they communicate well, and they work well with our development team. The team at Indeform is very reliable. What challenge were you trying to address with Indeform?

We wanted to make a simple prototype of a new type of multifunctional software platform. It provides an analysis of different forms of energy that customers and users might generate. The product provides communication and a platform for integration.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Indeform is our main partner in software development and they helped me design the prototype. I made the product specifications but they’re translating it into IT specifications, which I’m not very familiar with. We have never experienced this kind of work in this field, but there is still a collaboration between us. Indeform contributes heavily from an IT perspective, while I contribute from an energy point of view. We have an outcome of an idea of what is and is not good for the user.

We needed some standard features like collaboration tools or themes that can work together under the scope of a certain project. That would include messaging, file sharing, Gantt charts, planning, and some other unique features that are related to energy management. Since we are working on the first version, we won’t try to make absolutely every feature we want at this stage. In terms of technology used, we have a combination of several protocols and codes—Java, JavaScript, SQL database, Gantt Chart, and GIS.

How did you come to work with Indeform?

I was looking for a small company with a young team, preferably somewhere in Eastern Europe. This provides some advantages in terms of cost and skills; we were looking for this great combination and a good value for the price. I was searching through several different channels and I found Indeform through LinkedIn. I did contact other companies. However, Indeform had the best possible composition for the features we wanted in a company.

How much have you invested with Indeform?

It was between €50,000-€100,000 [$53,200-$106,400].

What is the status of this engagement?

I met Indeform in September 2015. It took six months to think about this project, get an initial understanding, and deal with negotiations. We signed an agreement in early March of 2016. The work is still in progress.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Could you share any evidence that would demonstrate the productivity, quality of work, or the impact of the engagement?

The quality of the code is very good. We had some bugs in the project, but this is normal in the development process. It was not an issue because we resolved plenty of them, and we will continue improving the platform all the time. All the functionalities that I requested and hoped for were present in the product. We don’t have feedback from investors or users yet because it’s too early. We will start talking to people outside our development team in two months’ time.

How did Indeform perform from a project management standpoint?

I’m extremely satisfied with their team. They’re all young and talented people. Their written English is fantastic and we have had no issues with deadlines. They’re great professionals and hard-working people. Their IT expertise is made up of different people specializing in different areas. We communicate via email. I have relocated myself closer to their team for the development phase, so I’m meeting them at least once a week, even two or three times a week.

The only minor problem is a language barrier, but it is not substantial. Other than that, they are absolutely brilliant people.

What did you find most impressive about Indeform?

They really try to get things done. They’re all young and committed. They’re ticking off all the boxes that I can think of. In my experience, it’s difficult to find a team that ticks all the boxes. I would say that they’re quite unique and it’s been very good for us.

Are there any areas Indeform could improve?

Right now, they’re exactly what we need and getting everything that we are receiving from them. Later, of course, we will try to improve the product using in-house developers, using other developers, or using Indeform again.
