We've been working with Indeema for a while and needed assistance with updating a mobile application for the entertainment industry. Indeema has prior experience in that industry, and their development processes are well-established, which is why we chose them.

We worked with Indeema to connect with the relevant people and update the existing App. They started to update the apps for iOS and Android after we approved the quote and timeline. The update of the application consisted in improving the existing functionality.

The project also included the development of an admin panel, which allows application administrators to manage configurations, settings, and content. Indeema began by creating backend data models, admin, and APIs and adding them to the admin panel.

Can you share any outcomes from the engagement that demonstrate progress or success?

The app is popular in the United States, and after updates, it received even more downloads. It is now easier to use and has more functionality. The results have exceeded our expectations, and the app is extremely well-developed.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

We worked together remotely, using Google Hangouts for our scheduled standup meetings and Slack for daily communication. Wireframes and designs were hosted by Figma, and we used specialized Indeema templates to manage project documentation. Thanks to this effective yet convenient setup, no information is ever lost.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

It's because of their professionalism. Indeema has well-defined procedures that start with the Requirements phase and then move on to the regular SDLS phases. At the same time, they are very flexible and consider any requests from the clients, making them easy to work with.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

It can take some time to grasp the big picture, and it may be difficult to express what the customer is thinking. It's a minor issue, and I'm sure it's common when you start working with a new vendor. However, the more projects you work on together, the easier it is to understand each other.

The Indeema team assisted with the following aspects of the project: firmware fixes, admin panel and mobile app updates, product enhancements, and support. Indeema is professional and met our requests to investigate differences between out-of-the-box firmware and source code, add and test battery reading functions, and resolve issues with the firmware update and calibration in a timely manner. They took over our existing product and are still developing and supporting it. Indeema also investigated existing Back-End, Front-End, and AWS code, as well as Admin panel UI issues.

Ivan, the senior engineer, was outstanding. The entire team was exceptional and truly a top-level talent.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

We, the client, could have done a better job of managing the timeline prior to war breaking out in Ukraine (our Indeema team is in Ukraine). Once the war broke out, we abandoned our timeline out of respect for the challenges our team was facing there. Not their fault and we couldn't be happier with how hard they continued to work to deliver the final software in what was clearly a stressful and dangerous time for them.

The workflow was very effective. The team of Indeema was even willing to work throughout all the weekends and nights to meet our very sharp deadlines. There were bi-weekly status calls.

The new extenison has been very well received by our customers. It adds a new possibilities of compatibility not achieved before. The look and feel of the deliverables are in par to the services our customers expect from us.

We were very happy how well organised the project management was. Regular meetings were held with the entire team to discuss sprint progress and completion. All questions and concerns were discussed in a timely manner.

Indeema Software is the best company I have ever worked with. We communicate using Slack to design, discuss, and execute each sprint. If I have questions, we video chat. Our workflow is incredibly simple. Building software is complicated, and failing to articulate goals precisely leaves too much room for interpretation.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

Indeema Software can do anything, from HTML to AI. I also love the post-sprint calls in which we discuss the results. They're truly excellent. Plus, their CEO has a lot of experience and has given me great business advice.

They speak great English but be sure to speak clearly about complex concepts.

What was the scope of their involvement?

The first step of the project was to stabilize the existing version and fix bugs. Their team spent time learning the code and analyzing the needs of the platform. Once the app was stable enough, they began adding new features. These new additions enhanced the e-commerce aspect of the platform and allowed users to buy wine, add ratings, and create profiles. Their team improved the customer experience and transaction flows within the app.

Indeema Software provided a project manager and a customer relations manager, and I spoke to them on a weekly basis. There were three engineers working behind the scenes, one each for the backend, iOS, and Android development.

We looked at several vendors worldwide and found that Indeema Softwre offered strong quality work and had good pricing. We also had positive experiences with Eastern European companies, so that helped us make our decision.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We were able to successfully deploy the stabilized version of the app to our customer base. We received positive feedback and users are happy with the easy transaction flow and rating system. The app has been stable since the launch.

How did Indeema Software perform from a project management standpoint?

Early in the process, they managed the project effectively. It was clear they understood our app and our needs. Although there was a learning curve because they weren’t familiar with the wine industry and the payment processing system, they delivered everything as expected. The work took slightly longer than I anticipated, but they made up for that by being available whenever we needed to discuss our needs.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They went above and beyond for us—their goal was always to please the customer and deliver quality work. They were easy to interact with and ensured we were satisfied with their progress. Their team was accommodating to our time differences, which we appreciated.

Are there any areas they could improve?

Clearer estimates from the beginning of the project would be useful. Additionally, we didn’t know they weren’t familiar with the payment processing system we were using until they had spent a lot of time learning it. Even though the final work was strong, we’d like to know of their struggles ahead of time.

We engaged Indeema Software to create an IoT solution to bridge our hardware with a web-based software solution. We also wanted to move from a PC-based application to a web app.

What was the scope of their involvement?

We first hosted a one-month planning period. After lots of back-and-forth collaboration between our team and Indeema Software, we produced a 40-page document on the project’s requirements and timeline.

Development on the web-based IoT application lasted 30 weeks. Indeema Software used MQTT and Lua to put together the IoT application. The app allows users to make a widget customized to their needs.

We work with a dedicated project manager who handles day-to-day communication. The team also comprises a billing person, a frontend developer, a backend developer, a QA/QC person, and a designer. 

How did you come to work with Indeema Software?

We looked for vendors on a freelancer website. We provided rough guidelines on what we were looking for as well as some example templates. There were ten serious bidders that we considered for the project. Indeema Software stood out by offering a full stack of services and being willing to collaborate before the project began.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together in April 2018, and the project is ongoing. 95% of the development is complete; we’re finishing a few satellite projects now.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

It’s still too early to tell, but Indeema Software has done an excellent job of testing everything and making sure that every function lines up with our expectations. Their designs also blew us away.

How did Indeema Software perform from a project management standpoint?

The team is highly responsive and organized, but their timeliness could be improved. Occasionally, the project has run into delays because of unexpected breaks, holidays, or vacations. We often received only a few days’ notice, which is rather abrupt. Otherwise, the project has stayed on schedule. We communicate through Skype and use Google Docs to deliver files.

What did you find most impressive about them?

We value their full-stack involvement and their top-notch, bug-free work. Indeema Software uses agile management and catalogs their scheduled tasks clearly for their team. Their organization is excellent.

Are there any areas they could improve?

As they’ve grown, communication has become less than clear at times. It may help them to have a logbook where they take 1-2 minutes every day to record a project’s status and to-dos going forward. This process may help clients like me in the future.

Being knowledgeable about technology and able to provide examples will lead to a successful project.

I’m the owner of Solar Manager. We’re developing the next generation of connected devices for managing photovoltaic production, enabling people to use as much energy produced by cells in their homes as possible, with the use of a device and cloud infrastructure.

What was the scope of their involvement?

We have a web frontend and applications. The app is designed for the installer and admin sections to simplify the connection of the devices. The web portion includes an installer for the PV system, an end-user component for visualizing data and changing settings, and an admin and support role. As an admin, users can review the data of any device.

The embedded platform uses C code, and the backend uses AWS as a provider. We’ve used MQTT to connect to the server side, and MongoDB to store data. The frontend is a standard browser interface, while the apps connect to the backend.

What is the team composition?

We work with a project manager and have teams for the app, web frontend, backend, and embedded portions of the product. I sometimes speak with their managing director.

Results and feedback are positive. We have a production environment with between 20–30 users. The frontend is visually-pleasing. There were a few issues with connectivity, but those will be fixed soon.

Along with biweekly calls, we use Slack for communication. Work is completed in sprints and we have a continuous delivery process. Indeema Software keeps our team updated, returning messages quickly. There have been some misunderstandings, but that’s normal with any collaboration. Their team is willing to fix any problems.

I believe some IoT issues could’ve been solved quicker, but maybe the problems weren’t as fundamental as I thought.

Indeema have been helpful and have been able to get it done fast, but it was a challenge to complete these projects in a short period of time. They react fast, understand our needs, and help us build the project in such a short period of time, which is why we wanted to work with them. Our customer was really happy with the work.

The project was developed for iOS and Android, in addition they helped us with web aspect, which is .NET. They helped us a little bit to build the payment system as well as Square.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We have a lot of people using it and has been good so far, and working well. With Indeema it was a smooth project and process. They are very responsible and accessible; you can reach them pretty much 24/7.  If something needs to be done, it doesn’t matter that they are in a different time zone, they always dedicate a project manager who can answer the call, or send a chat message back.

How did Indeema Software perform from a project management standpoint?

They use Redmine for project management, and they also try to be really scalable. We are able to see updates on current tasks. There have been no issues in the processing or creating a job or task, and they always ask what works for us. We moved to Google not too long ago, and they have been straightforward in working on our terms and what works the best for us in terms of sharing documents, and not just what works for them. They create special charts if we want to, and everything has been really straightforward.

Communication has never been an issue. Even if we find something critical, or our customer finds something that needs to be fixed, their turnaround time is really fast, and things are sometimes done over night. From my understanding, they have good resources to allow them to move forward with any scalability of the project whether it is small or big. Anything that they worked on was tested by them prior to handing it to us. They have a good QA engineering team who make sure that the codes they have provided work, which has been really good. Pre-planning has been really straightforward. They have been really good in creating technical requirements, and make sure everyone is on the same page and is doing the right thing. If there is something they are unsure of, they will always ask.

Sometimes when working with a company, they get the task done, and just do the coding, but don’t care how it actually works. Indeema really care about what your business is doing, and want to make sure you are going to be successful and the projects will work. Indeema also have provided us with suggestions, and always share their opinion to help us out. It has been helpful to have another point of view and perspective from a different side.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They always try to get the best people and talent possible to work for them as far as I understand. They always try to give as much as possible in order to deliver the best results for your project and expectations. They are a very good company, and I would like to work with them in the future as I see a lot of potential in them.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I didn’t have any problems at all. I had issues with companies I had worked with in the past, whether it was misunderstandings or them not being very knowledgeable in English. However, with Indeema, everything is straightforward. They have a pretty good knowledge of English, and always try to have at least 2 people who speak English to understand the project needs. It is not just the technical people, it is the project manager and sales representative who have the knowledge of what exactly the software development is, what it is all about, and how the project plan and scope should be.
