Please describe your company and your position there.

I am the story designer for a company that creates educational stories for mobile apps. Founded in late 2016, our vision is to provide fun and efficient education for preschool kids through interactive, unique, and novel animated characters that promote conservation awareness. 


For what projects/services did your company hire Imperial Digital?

We outsourced the development of a mobile app to Imperial Digital.

What were your goals for this project?

The goal was to provide teachers and parents with an effective educational tool that stimulated young minds, enhanced intelligence, and promoted development and learning.


How did you select this vendor?

We interviewed four potential vendors. Two lacked experience and another was disqualified based on the cost estimate. Imperial Digital displayed a commitment to provide reliable customer support and produce results within six months.

Can you go into detail about the services they provided and the scope of the project?

Fortnightly workshops were held early on to establish a mutual understanding of project goals and finalize the requirements and specifications. After designing and developing the app, functional versions were made available for user testing with test points emailed back to Imperial for bug resolution. 

What was the team composition?

When we began, the team initially consisted of a developer and a business manager, but staff turnover soon delayed the project. Once operations recommenced, the team had grown to include two graphic artists and a technical lead. 


Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?

Completion was originally scheduled for mid 2017, but took three times longer than expected. The delay has impacted my business greatly because I was not able to deliver the app to our potential customers as planned.

How was project management arranged and how effective was it?

Project management was not introduced until Imperial realized the timeline was not on target. Executing a proper plan provided the leadership and direction necessary to make certain the final product added real value to my business and was delivered correctly.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

The project manager, Rogin Thadathil (Lead Business System Analyst, Imperial Digital), was enthusiastic, dedicated, and competent. He communicated exceptionally well and was committed to delivering quality results. 

Are there any areas where they can improve?

Imperial Digital can improve their risk and resource management to ensure that project goals are met in a timely manner.
