I am the Vice President, Product and Technology Strategy, for a health and wellness technology company. We build IoT systems to make homes and buildings healthy for their occupants. We have around 200 employees and are headquartered in New York City.

For what projects/services did your company hire ImpactQA?

After launching our home wellness IoT platform in late 2018 we started to rapidly scale up our customer base and ecosystem of supported IoT products, and realized we needed to quickly add experienced QA resources to our team.

What were your goals for this project?

Our goal was to add experienced QA resources to a relatively small product/engineering team. We did not simply want people to execute test scripts, but rather partners who would bring knowledge and industry experience to help us scale our operation and establish a culture of quality.

How did you select ImpactQA?

Our head of HR got a recommendation to ImpactQA from someone in his professional network. We evaluated ImpactQA alongside several other firms, and ultimately chose them for several reasons:

They offered us more experienced personnel than the other firms, their prices were very competitive, they truly took the time to understand our needs, and their executive team - starting with their CEO - was highly engaged in winning our business.

Describe the project in detail.

Essentially, we were looking for a vendor to bring us an experienced QA team "out of the box" given our urgent need and short timeline. While the engagement was initially envisioned as a 6 month project to allow us time to hire an internal QA team, we were so pleased with the ImpactQA team that we have turned it into an ongoing engagement (20 months and still going).

While we may still hire an internal QA lead down the road, we have not felt the need to do so yet, and any internal hire will continue working with ImpactQA for a long time to come.

What was the team composition?

Initially, we were assigned an experienced QA Lead to both perform testing but also help us evaluate and improve our QA process and toolset. After three months, we added two more experienced QA Analysts.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

While I cannot reveal specific statistics, we consider the project to be a success for several reasons: our QA process has become far more robust, we are shipping code that is more stable with far fewer bugs, and we have been able to rapidly grow our customer base thanks, in large part, to the maturation and improved quality of our product.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

The workflow between our teams has been excellent; we consider our ImpactQA contractors to be key members of our product development organization. They are excellent communicators, they participate in all of our scrum meetings, and they provide weekly written status reports. The executive management team at ImpactQA is also very hands on, holding monthly check-in meetings with our leadership.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

I will highlight 3 things I find most impressive about ImpactQA:

1. The contractors they have provided are highly experienced while their costs are highly competitive.
2. Their team is always thinking critically and proactively how they can help our company succeed.
3. Despite our relatively small size (compared to some of their other clients), their executive team has been very hands on both winning our business and - crucially - ensuring we continue to be happy with their services. Their CEO makes time to visit us every time he is in NYC, which speaks volumes.

Are there any areas for improvement?

In the first month, their team was perhaps overly polite, not wanting to offend us with strong suggestions. Once I made clear that we wanted them to challenge our process and practices to make us better, they have really run with this mandate and helped take our whole team to the next level. Beyond that, I have no complaints. I wish all of my vendors were like ImpactQA!

We hired them for Mobile and Web application testing including functional and automation testing. They have a committed team of flexible and technically-sound QA testers. Everyone from front-end and back-end, did a good job taking our project to the finish line.

What were your goals for this project?

We have worked with ImpactQA for mobile and web application testing to make our application/website user-friendly. From user-navigation, order management to payment option, everything had to be in place. They have helped us with Functional Testing, Automation Testing, Mobile App Testing, Usability Testing

How did you select ImpactQA?

We were vetting companies based on industry feedback. The goal was to find a flexible, timely, technically sound and cost-effective company. After hearing about ImpactQA from people who were satisfied with their work, I spoke with them and decided to go ahead with the project.

We have reached out to them for our Mobile and Web application testing including functional and automation testing. They made sure that each function of the software application operates in conformance with the requirement specification. They verified our application’s compatibility with different browsers and tested it with real users.

They performed AGILE models and created multiple sprints for successful testing. They even built a test automation framework from scratch and automation done for web, mobile site, iOS and android. Along with this, smoke, sanity and regression was done as per the requirements.

The mobile app was successfully launched with minimal errors post go-live. Subsequently for changes, the releases have been smooth with minimal post testing errors

We hired them for Performance and Security Testing Services.

What were your goals for this project?

We were moving our servers from DCs in Singapore over to the cloud and wanted to ensure that the performance and security of the applications hosted is not impacted. There were four applications that were in the scope of testing. We were looking for a QA vendor who can handle our performance and security testing services. The team at ImpactQA, was able to successfully test the applications and identify all the performance bottlenecks and security issues in the applications.

One of their most impressive qualities is their ability to handle testing projects.

A team of three people including performance testers and a security consultant deployed for our project.

ImpactQA was able to successfully test the applications and identify all the performance bottlenecks and security issues in the applications.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

We have video calls just to touch base or share our requirements. Sometimes, they turn into full-blown meetings where we are networking to discuss roadblocks and workflows. They are a pleasure to work with.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

They are professional, efficient and competent. They’re able to help you meet every milestone. The leadership at ImpactQA understands your requirements and then supports you throughout the project. They give it their personal focus to make sure you get the best result. By being global and capable of working around the clock, ImpactQA gives our project a great kick-start.

The project was to test our mobile and web apps. New features were to be tested against requirements and regressions. To do exploratory testing to find hidden bugs. Finally, write automation tests to increase robustness and reliability during release cycles.

What was the team composition?

We started with 2 manual testers. Automation engineers were added later. Max strength was 4 QA engineers

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

1.We were able to roll out features with more confidence after getting them QA verified from the team. This resulted in less complaints from the end users. 2.Automation test suits helped us reduce time for release process. Critical flows were tested using smoke tests in CI/CD pipelines. 3.We also got help in research work regarding best tools to for automation tests.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

It was mostly good. Slack was used as the official medium. The team was mostly available whenever required. They were available on calls for cross timezone meeting

What did you find most impressive about this company?

1.Less turn around time on queries 2.They provide replacements for engineers if required or if someone is going on a long leave 3.Extra push to meet deadlines

VitaMojo offers a cloud-based operating system specifically designed for restaurants. Our Vita Mojo OS is a single integrated platform across front of house kiosks and EPOS, back of house KDS and capacity management, and live business intelligence dashboards. I am the Lead QA architect (Head of Testing) for VitaMojo across the full software stack.

ImpactQA are supporting across all of the projects with functional and automation testing.

What were your goals for this project?

To increase the quality of the platform in order to increase the number of clients onboarding to the platform.

How did you select this vendor?

We looked at a number of agencies that provided testing services during this process. It was most important to get the right skill set match as well as find a partner that we can work long term with. There were a number of sessions to describe the problem and for the agencies to present to us their approach.

Once we selected ImpactQA we had a series of discovery sessions where I set out the objectives and the skill set requirements for the team. ImpactQA then set up a number of interviews with candidates to ensure that we got the right people to join the team.

What was the team composition?

We have a mixture of functional and automation testers in the team and a Team Lead. The team is based offshore.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

The team has integrated really well with the VitaMojo team and our development partners. Attending daily standups, company-wide meetings and actively participating in our company communication channels means the flow between the teams is good.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

The responsiveness of Impact QA sets them apart. They're always keen to do whatever it takes to meet the requirement.

Are there any areas for improvement?

To ensure that their teams are always up to date with the newest testing methods/techniques for automation so that they can share that best practice with VitaMojo.

For what projects/services did your company hire ImpactQA?

We use ImpactQA for our annual round of independent Penetration and Vulnerability testing.

What were your goals for this project?

To efficiently and comprehensively assess our platform and reveal any vulnerabilities. Then to retest and confirm that the vulnerabilities have been properly addressed.

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor?

We have previously used the company for some small projects. They did a good job. We therefore awarded them a multi-year contract for this essential security undertaking.

Describe the project in detail.

This is a standard service in the sector. However, it has to be carried out properly. ImpactQA need to first understand our platform. They then undertake a round of testing and produce a report with their findings. As necessary they discuss the severity rating they suggest for issues that are found. A final version of the first test report is agreed. We then fix any identified issues and ImpactQA retest and confirm that the vulnerability has been dealt with. A final report is produced that can be provided to our clients.

Security testers and project managers on both sides.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

This is the third year that ImpactQA have undertaken their full round of testing. Our team have felt that they found issues that needed to be found and were competent and professional. Our clients have been happy with the published report that we share with them.

Very. They are a pleasure to work with.

There must be areas. But from my perspective as CEO of their client I cannot think of anything obvious.
