HyperTrends Global Inc. built a product that has supported 20% yearly growth. Knowledgeable and reliable, they provided excellent service. The team’s ability to communicate complex technologies simply supported valuable collaboration, which positions them well for another partnership.

A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.

    BACKGROUND

Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the CEO of Foundation Escrow. We help real estate agents, buyers, and sellers process escrow

    OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with HyperTrends Global Inc.?

We wanted to better understand our key metrics and be proactive rather than reactive. We needed to advance our escrow process with technological automation.

    SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

HyperTrends Global Inc. helped build a platform in Power BI. They built the product with a tracking feature to provide key performance indicators, giving us an overall understanding of what’ve done, what we’re doing, and where we’re headed. The team also integrated reporting capabilities, which can display data in graphs and simple metrics.

They also helped us to consider potential technological developments. The team performed initial research and development into an app that would further streamline our escrow process internally and clients through automation.

    What is the team composition?

I worked directly with Anup Marwadi (CEO) but he has a larger team. He did a fantastic job.

How did you come to work with HyperTrends Global Inc.?

Multiple colleagues recommended them. We’d interviewed other companies, but I felt most comfortable with HyperTrends Global Inc. based on their knowledge and ability to communicate technical ideas to those who aren’t tech savvy.

How much have you invested with them?

We spent $35,000 on the project.

What is the status of this engagement?

We worked together between November 2018–March 2019.

    RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We’ve grown about 20% this year. Part of this is attributable to the industry, but also our ability to be proactive based on the platform HyperTrends Global Inc. built. The team created a product that has enabled us to focus on the right numbers. Any time I have a technology need, Anup and his team will handle it for us.

How did HyperTrends Global Inc. perform from a project management standpoint?

The team provided great service— just fantastic. They had great communication skills, following up to stay on top of the project.

What did you find most impressive about them?

HyperTrends Global Inc was honest, trustworthy, and simple. The team kept their word; what they said was what they did. Where conversations can become very complicated and convoluted, their team kept things understandable, which I appreciated the most.

Are there any areas they could improve?

    No, not at all.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Get started sooner on automation projects. Any project related to that scope: hire HyperTrends Global Inc.

The improved site, lauded internally and externally, has markedly increased new business since HyperTrends Global was first engaged. Expertise and meticulousness were hallmarks of their work. The team corrected bugs quickly and also offered useful tactical advice.

A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.

    BACKGROUND

Introduce your business and what you do there.

I'm CEO and founder of TicketSocket, a white label ticketing framework. We work with a number of enterprise clients to put control back into the hands of event organizers, as opposed to them using a third-party system.

    OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with HyperTrends Global Inc.?

We had previously developed the first version of our software. We needed to build an enterprise version with a Representational State Transfer (REST) API.

    SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

HyperTrends Global Inc. worked with us for several years. They helped us build a new version of our previous platform. Clients leverage our platform to take registrations and ticket sales. It allows them to collect the money directly and control the data and services themselves.

We had our own internal UI developers but HyperTrends Global Inc. handled the whole backend. They led development and set up of the server, infrastructure, and database. They did all of the REST API development, including documentation and scoping. They worked in the .NET Framework on the backend, as well as MongoDB and SQL for our database structures. They also managed many of the API team members for both fixing bugs as well as feature development.

    What is the team composition?

We worked with 5–6 developers. Anup (CEO, HyperTrends Global Inc.) served as our main project manager.

How did you come to work with HyperTrends Global Inc.?

We were introduced by a mutual investor. We interviewed several other companies before choosing them.

How much have you invested with them?

    We spent about $1.5 million.

What is the status of this engagement?

We worked together from November 2014–August 2018, at which point they handed the project off to our internal team.

    RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

They rebuilt the entire platform so it is much more scalable. They added new features such as the ability to reserve seating and do season ticket sales. Those features allow us to bring on board new businesses that we were never able to serve before. It also allows us to offer a developer-centric platform. Now companies can build off our API, which is very helpful. Their code was quite good. There were some parts that needed a little bit of refactoring, but overall it was very clean and well documented.

How did HyperTrends Global Inc. perform from a project management standpoint?

They managed the project directly, and interfaced with our UI team to connect the API. Anup and his senior developer were our key contacts. We worked in an agile three-week sprint process. We met with them frequently in person, as well as using Jira and Slack. They also had a special bug response team to fix any problems.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They were always very creative in adding new features. Given the scope of the project, it was helpful that someone else besides us had a strong vision.

Are there any areas they could improve?

We made the mistake of letting them talk directly to our clients. The clients would complain about some software feature that they wanted but we didn't think had any business value. As a result of the complaints, HyperTrends Global Inc. would sometimes work on those features above other projects.

    Any advice for potential customers?

Make sure you have a very detailed scope of your project.

A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.

    BACKGROUND

Introduce your business and what you do there.

We’re a full-service branding and advertising agency. I’m the CEO.

    OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with HyperTrends Global Inc?

We partnered with them on several projects. We initially hired them to help develop complex web apps and sites that were beyond our internal capabilities.

    SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Each project we worked on had a different scope. A few of them were phone applications and one was web-based. They helped us with functionality, including enabling video downloads, membership options, and subscriptions. We handled all the UI/UX designs on our side and they helped us with development and technical and functional specifications. Most of our mobile projects were native apps for both iOS and Android.

The projects we worked on included a scrapbooking web and mobile app with a custom interface. It allowed users to upload content and monitored users’ geolocations. We also designed an interface for pro surfers to upload videos and offer services. It operated as a hub for all things surf related. They handled all the backend development to allow for video ranking and other functionality.

    What is the team composition?

We were typically assigned a project manager and around 10 developers for each project.

How did you come to work with HyperTrends Global Inc?

I'm in an entrepreneurial group in San Diego. One of the other members had used them successfully and recommended them. They were easy to talk to and knew what they were doing. They delivered the right product at a good value.

How much have you invested with them?

    We spent over $200,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together in June 2015. They delivered their last project for us in February 2017.

    RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

All our clients were happy with what we delivered. We had a great experience with HyperTrends. They met our guidelines and fixed glitches or bugs almost instantly.

How did HyperTrends Global Inc perform from a project management standpoint?

We had a bug tracking system and used Basecamp to collaborate. We had good ongoing communication and weekly status meetings. They were always available and we occasionally met in person.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They did everything within our budget, which is a feat in the development world. We had a great experience overall.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I can’t remember anything that I wish they had done differently. I had direct contact with their CEO and communication was easy.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

The easiest way to ensure a successful development project is to hand over a document at the beginning with sound technology and functional specifications. Set up a statement of work with each piece measured out so you know you’re getting what you pay for.

HyperTrends's small but might team took on a highly challenging project, and delivered exceptional results. Their attention to detail, proactive approach, and willingness to work hard sets them apart. The platform they built was well received, as it streamlined many previously complicated processes.

A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.

    BACKGROUND

Introduce your business and what you do there.

I'm the former CEO of BluAgent Technologies, a company that helps streamline and digitize the documentation and backend processes for the trucking industry.

    OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with HyperTrends Global Inc?

My partner and I were looking for a developer to help us build our web and mobile app.

    SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

HyperTrends initially spent a lot of time with us, attending various meetings to learn about our industry and some of the challenges we were trying to address. As a result, they met with many different vendors we were working with. After acquiring a certain amount of knowledge, they then started developing the platform for both web and mobile (iOS and Android).

The app digitized many of the forms truck drivers need to fill out before and after a shift. One of its key features involved a process that made periodic drug testing of truck drivers more efficient, allowing drivers to submit all relevant paperwork and information through the app and take a drug test at their company's office instead of in a lab. They also built in translations into Spanish and components that were compliant with the Mexican government's driving regulations.

    What is the team composition?

We worked with Anup (CEO, HyperTrends Global Inc) and two to three developers.

How did you come to work with HyperTrends Global Inc?

A friend of mine recommended them to us. After my first phone call with Anup, I knew they were the right team to work with. Not only were they extremely knowledgeable, but also had some experience in our industry within their team.

How much have you invested with them?

    We invested around $60,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

I worked with them from around January 2015 to December 2016.

    RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

HyperTrends helped us transform previously lengthy tasks into easy, seamless processes. We received a lot of positive feedback from truck drivers, trucking companies, and even the labs we approached to help streamline the drug testing feature. HyperTrends exceeded expectation by taking the time to learn about our industry and exactly what we needed—it was a very complicated, yet collaborative process.

How did HyperTrends Global Inc perform from a project management standpoint?

They were very organized and accessible, managing projects and communications through Slack, Jira, and Basecamp. Their team did a tremendous amount of research to be able to take on our project.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They're extremely knowledgeable and executed our project relatively quickly. Despite the smaller size of their team, no time or effort was wasted—they were proactive and got things done at an impressive speed.

    BACKGROUND

Please describe your company and your position there.

At the time of engagement with HyperTrends, I was CIO/CTO at the National Research Center for College and University Admission.

    OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

For what projects/services did your company hire HyperTrends Global Inc.?

We were looking to hire an outside agency that could oversee long-term development of our student website and some related applications.

What were your goals for this project?

We wanted to update and maintain a website that required enterprise integration.

    SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor?

We considered several options but were already familiar with the talent of Anup (CEO, HyperTrends Global Inc.) and his team. It was ultimately an easy decision for us.

Can you go into detail about the services they provided and the scope of the project?

HyperTrends provided a full-stack development team to work on our site. The scope of the project encompassed virtually all of our student-facing applications as well. We provided them with an idea of what we were looking for, and they managed design and development to align the end products with our preferences.

    What was the team composition?

We worked with a project manager and team of full-stack developers.

    RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?

The engagement was successful in providing the resources we needed to develop the site and related apps. We couldn’t have done it without the team that HyperTrends assigned to us.

How was project management arranged and how effective was it?

Their project manager worked directly with our product team to create a site that met all our requirements.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

Anup and the HyperTrends team were proactive in providing input on our designs. They also utilized the latest technologies and made suggestions around how they could improve our platform.

Are there any areas where they can improve?

We initially had a few minor issues that come along with outsourcing a project overseas, but they were able to address them effectively when we brought them up.
