Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the executive director of a community development nonprofit.
OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE
What challenge were you trying to address with Huntrex Create & Connect?
We were hyper-focused on better translating our services and targeting young families. We wanted to use workforce development to break into that audience. That was the main focus when Huntrex Create & Connect redesigned our website.
SOLUTION
What was the scope of their involvement?
Huntrex Create & Connect revamped our website from scratch, overseeing the project from start to finish. Before, we’d had a static website with some information, contact info, and a team page. I provided the idea of how it would look and function, and Huntrex Create & Connect walked us through what was possible or not. We tested and iterated as many times as we needed to until I was satisfied with the look and functionality.
They migrated us onto an entirely Google platform. The website has different functions, including blogs, contact information, and a career portal. On the backend, I connect job seekers with employers based on the skills and needs that both express.
What is the team composition?
Mitch (Founder/CEO, Huntrex Create & Connect) was our on-the-ground contact. He was part-development, part-customer service who hashed out with us what the platform should look like and what it wasn’t.
How did you come to work with Huntrex Create & Connect?
Mitch lives locally and works with several businesses in town. I believe he created our first website, but that was 4–5 years and a director ago. There was no upkeep since then.
How much have you invested with them?
We spent $2,400.
What is the status of this engagement?
The project started in April 2019. The website launched in June, but it achieved complete functionality in July. We still work together, though.
RESULTS & FEEDBACK
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
We’ve only had one successful connection in the career portal, but we’re starting to see more traffic especially on our contact page. We’re also leveraging social media for engagement and using the platform from a workforce platform.
I like the functionality. I stole my ideas from the sites of other projects that do similar work, but the final product is different enough while still retaining the functionality I wanted. Huntrex Create & Connect was a little uncomfortable with launching a product that wasn’t quite done, but we wanted to get that user feedback. We launched an MVP and continued to iterate it after it was live.
We’ve had the website up for over a year. We still go back and forth in check-ins to make updates and provide expertise about how to manage the website on our own.
How did Huntrex Create & Connect perform from a project management standpoint?
We communicated via email. I would screenshot something that needed tweaking or wasn’t working quite right, email it to him, and then we’d talk over the phone or in-person. Most updates came from Mitch.
What did you find most impressive about them?
It’s so easy to work with Huntrex Create & Connect because they’re in the community. Not only are they nearby, but they’re already familiar with the community that we’re trying to service and what we’re trying to accomplish. We had a conversation upfront about our target and our purpose in the project, and Huntrex Create & Connect kept that steady from start to finish.
Are there any areas they could improve?
I can’t say there’s anything. It was great that I could be as hands-off as I was in the development process. We had pleasant interactions and everything arrived on time.
Any advice for potential customers?
Just go with Huntrex Create & Connect. I’m always pleased with what Mitch produces — he’s done other work in the community that I’ve seen as well. And whenever we have issues, they do the best they can to remedy those situations.
