We are now in a process of creating a visual library that supports our branding and brings more diversity across channels with fun and playful animations. These animations are for commercial use and across our social media channels.

I found Hound Studio via dribble and loved their portfolio. After the first meeting and introduction, it was pretty clear that we want to work together on future projects because of their mature portfolio, easy and simple setup for process and delivery as well as pricing.

After I delivered a brief the process was pretty straightforward towards reviewing and approving each frame. In the beginning, it took some time to align the screens correctly since the script was in a foreign language but in the end, the result was exactly how we wanted it to be.

What was the team composition?

I worked closely with the project manager on tweaks and changes. The animation team delivered all changes fairly quickly.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

All animations will go live in the beginning of next year. However, we are very happy with the overall growing animations. It brought our branding to life at a more sophisticated level.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

The workflow was fairly effective as we did all reviews and approvals via the KROCK app. It saved us time from going back and forth as well as unnecessary meetings.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

We are overall very impressed with their efficiency and skills. All deliverables have been delivered just as we wanted.

Is there any area for improvement or anything that could have been done differently?

I can’t point to anything at the moment.

We needed a promo video for ads and launches that presented in less than a minute our value proposition.

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

I wanted to work with a small company, preferably a indie founder. The fact that Hound Studio fulfils that requisite and it's a Ukraine based company just added to the list of decisive factors.

The creation process with Hound Studio is very intuitive and the use of Krock.io makes the whole process easy to manage and allows for great communication. I sent them a script and a list of references and they were able to execute the video perfectly!

I was mainly in contact with 2 people during the whole process, but saw that other people were also involved.

The Krock.io platform allows for great transparency and easy communication.

Everything went smoothly, and there were no issues at all.

I only missed knowing upfront the execution timeline. Other than that, everything was very clear.

I'm an animation director at a christian non-profit foundation, creating international media content for kids.

For what projects/services did your company hire Hound Studio, and what were your goals?

We wanted to show a young audience what eternity might look like, as part of a live studio show. There were only two months from brief till deadline but was important to us to convey a fantastic and dream-like world with high quality animation and illustrations.

How did you select Hound Studio and what were the deciding factors?

We looked online for animation studios in Europe, and found Hound Studios projects on Behance. We were immediately impressed by the hand drawn animation and lively illustrations. When we found them available and ready to deliver at a reasonable price, it was an easy choice to go with them.

We handed Hound Studio the brief including storyboard, animatic, music and mood board, and they offered to create a set of style frames together with a project breakdown before we set the contract. The first designs were very good, so we were sure this would be a successful project. They proceeded with these steps: outline illustrations, colored illustrations, advanced animatic, and final animation, using both computer generated and hand drawn animation for the most effective workflow. All deliveries were above expectation, and we were always happy to see the next step in the process.

They used the platform Crock.io for reviews and feedback, and wetransfer.com for uploading zip files and final delivery. They worked independently, ready to apply our feedback and giving suggestions of improvements where needed. We experienced this pipeline as professional and organized.

Who did you work with and what was the feedback process like?

We worked with the producer Alexey, who communicated our needs to the illustrators and animators, making sure we knew where in the process we were and what we could expect. General communication went on e-mail, but comments and feedback went through Crock.io. All files were organized neatly, we had access to all versions and could comment directly on all images and videos.

We could also see the percentage of where in the process they were, which was nice to know they were on track, even though we didn't hear from them for a while.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

The video was shown at a live show with 800 kids and mentors. We saw many teary eyes, sounds of "wow" and smiles when noticing the details of the film. We feel we were able to touch the right emotions of our young audience, portraying eternity as a fantastical and dream-like world.

Describe their project management style, including communication tools and timeliness.

We experienced the project manager to answer quickly, being clear in communication and made sure to include us if they planned any noticeable changes. Working remote across borders, used mostly e-mail and arranged video calls when necessary. We could adress the animators and illustrators directly through crock.io.

The timeline was set from the beginning of the projects, with only minor adjustments. All dates were included in the Crock-system, were kept as agreed.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

The team at Hound Studio have been surprisingly enthusiastic about this project, despite the short timeline. They are immediately ready to start the project and make sure we are in the safe hands in the collaboration. Even at the end of the project, when unexpected changes came up, they were ready to help us and find a solution.

The quality and amount of detail put into all illustrations and animation shows the love both for the craft and the message behind.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

There is nothing more we could expect from Hound Studio, given the time and budget at hand. I wish I could have met the team personally to see more of the process and what the individual has to bring to the table. Due to the covid situation it was not possible at this point, but hopefully we will keep collaborating and we'll get a chance to meet later on.

I showed the results to my colleagues and also to the PriceCharting team and they all understand the video, where we were going with it.

We needed a video to present our product, the Smart Company, for both our website as well as marketing campaigns. As this is a new product in a sector that traditionally is not very exciting the challenge to create something unique and engaging was very high.

We wanted a 60 seconds video, able to explain exactly what is a Smart Company and why such a solution is needed in the current market.

How did you select this vendor?

We have spoken with more than 20 firms, we were looking for a very fresh style and visuals that were clearly communicating high standards. The portfolio provided by the vendor was something that caught our attention from the first moment. After communicating with the team we understood we were a good match for them.

The video is divided in 2 major parts: Problem and Solutions. It was quite difficult to come up with a story board that was unique but still able to explain exactly what are the pain points of the current corporate governance and how easy our solution can solve those issues. The team has been fantastic, running multiple meetings with us and ensure they were understanding exactly what was required. After the story board got approved we put full trust in the team. We had around 4 edits in total and the team has been supportive along all the way.

We had a very heavy communication at the beginning in order to ensure the story line was clear, after that the vendor prepared the first version and collected feedback. We are probably picky clients and we tried to get things perfect to the frame. The vendor was very helpful and positive about every request. They also suggested many changes to make things better based on their experience and skills.

The video got published on our website. I guess both parties are happy with the final result as we are both using the product as marketing collaterals.

The vendor suggested a worflow that matched our requests. We were both on the same page and this made working together smooth and easy. We had access to the documents the vendor was working on so that helped us to provide feedbacks in a fast way. Email communication was clear and we had only 2 calls meeting in total: one at the beginning and one at the end before final delivery.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

The experience and skills totally at high class. One thing I loved and I didn't find common in many companies is the fact we were able to communicate with every person involved in the project without having to rely only on one point of communication. This ensured there was no misunderstanding and the project got shipped fast.

We got options for every decision: visuals, voice, music. Everything was communicated properly and if we were not on the same page the team was there to ensure we were back on track. This, in simple, is how things are done.
