I’m the senior resettlement tracking analyst and system developer at UNHCR, the UN refugee agency with headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland. We have more than 15,000 staff members around the world.

What challenge were you trying to address with Hexis d.o.o.?

We wanted a custom software to aggregate information on global migration and resettling habits.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Hexis d.o.o. created a custom software solution that analyzes the migration of a specific segment of our larger population. We can systematically and efficiently input resettlement data, then the system processes the information and quickly shares it with the public. The display interface is clear, accessible, and eye-catching.

We recently signed a contract to expand our relationship with Hexis d.o.o. Moving forward, they’ll provide maintenance and support services for the software. We’ll turn to them for any bug issues, server problems, and troubleshooting needs.

What is the team composition?

Our primary contact was a project manager, who was available at all hours of the day. They provided numerous software, frontend, and backend developers. There was also a visual lead, who made sure all of our requirements were reflected in the final product.

How did you come to work with Hexis d.o.o.?

We followed an official bidding process. Hexis d.o.o. won over the other vendors because their proposal best fit our needs.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started this specific project in May 2016, but we’ve been doing smaller projects together since 2014. Currently, we’re still working with them.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Before this project, we had a basic way of disseminating statistical information. The data tool we were using was out of date and cluttered with unorganized information. Hexis d.o.o. looked at this software and understood what we needed to improve and fix. They developed an amazing final product. We’re very proud of their work.

With the new system, we’re able to monitor how many people access our data. After reviewing the analytics, we can tell that our market reach has grown since we deployed the product. We’ve received 100,000 individual inquiries. In terms of qualitative feedback, users praise the new tool for its accessibility, speed, and stability.

Additionally, this application strengthened our organization’s reputation. By providing accurate and consistent information regarding refugees and resettlement, we’ve established ourselves as a valuable global resource and had a positive impact worldwide.

How did Hexis d.o.o. perform from a project management standpoint?

The project manager was very communicative and organized, tracking the project and keeping us on schedule. The team was responsive and always accommodated any changes we requested. If something wasn’t possible, they explained why. We primarily spoke over Skype. Hexis d.o.o. provided regular updates on our progress. Overall, they were timely, detail-oriented, and receptive to feedback.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They were a perfect fit for this project. In terms of size, they had the right amount of resources to provide high-quality work. If they were bigger, they wouldn’t have been as committed. If they were smaller, it would’ve been a huge challenge to meet all of our expectations. They were right in the middle, providing 25 dedicated staff members for our project.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, there aren’t any areas to improve on their end. Honestly, some of our staff was jealous of their skills.

Any advice for potential customers?

I recommend future clients take full advantage of Hexis d.o.o.’s size. They can provide personalized services and direct customer support in a very timely fashion.
