Modernizing IntelliGuard’s RFID tracking system makes medication management more secure
IntelliGuard came to us with the primary goal of moving from a desktop and local database application to a web and cloud-based database application. This meant they would have to migrate and standardize 100+ customer data sets from the legacy system to the new one, a process which would require significant time and attention. Through a close partnership with the company, we discovered opportunities to streamline processes in order to accelerate customer onboarding and speed future delivery.

Custom Platform Revamp for Software Company
"Headspring felt like an extension of our company."

Please describe your company and your position there.
I'm the CTO of a software company that specializes in property tax collection software for local government.
For what projects/services did your company hire Headspring, and what were your goals?
Our existing platform was based on outdated technologies, and we knew we didn't have the manpower to continue to support our existing platform while undertaking a rewrite. Our goal was to have a modern web based platform, that would position us well for the future with our clients and reduce our maintenance costs.
How did you select Headspring and what were the deciding factors?
I had been familiar with Headspring for a while, as I had seen their Chief Architect talk at several conferences and user groups I was a part of. Cost was a large consideration, as we had also evaluated some off-shore companies, but we knew the quality of Headspring and that they could deliver on our needs.
Describe the scope of work in detail, including the project steps, key deliverables, and technologies used.
They designed and developed a .NET Core Razor Pages solution, utilizing our existing database and business logic. We first started with a discovery meeting to go over our challenges and desires for this project. They then met with some of our key clients to talk about their wants and needs for the new platform. After collating all this information, they went back and built mockups which we validated. The project was completed in two week sprints, bringing some of our developers on midway through to get comfortable with the project before the engagement was complete.
How many people from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?
There were four key people in the core team, including a project manager, a UX designer, a tech lead and a developer. Additional development resources would come and go as the project needed.
Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?
We were able to launch the project side by side with our legacy system, without interruption. Headspring was able to mentor our developers, and they have been able to transition from mostly desktop based software, to web development without issue.
Describe their project management style, including communication tools and timelines.
The project management and communication was fantastic, we never felt like we were left in the dark. We had weekly status meetings letting us know exactly where we were at all times. We primarily communicated through Slack, Zoom and Azure DevOps.
What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?
We had direct access to the whole time, Headspring felt like an extension of our company. We were all in the daily standups together and communicated regularly. As the project needed, they were able to bring in UX and architect resources.
Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?
We had zero issues with the work that was completed. We had one minor billing issue one month, which Headspring quickly corrected to our mutual satisfaction.

Please describe your company and your position there.
We design and manufacture RFID tracking systems for the hospital. I am the Chief Technology Officer.
For what projects/services did your company hire Headspring?
Headspring has helped us develop an enterprise pharmacy portal, EHR integration, and many backend services in AWS. I am sure I am forgetting some projects as well. Headspring has also helped us develop and adhere to core principles for software development and testing that have only strengthened the internal team.
What were your goals for this project?
Our goals were to replace a poorly designed, implemented, and documented legacy system. There was absolutely no way that the old system would have.
How did you select this vendor?
I had heard of Headspring when I lived in Texas, and it was all good. That is why I approached them for this project.
Describe the project and the services they provided in detail.
They designed and developed a class-leading enterprise pharmacy portal. They helped design and assisted in the development of a front runner EHR integration as well as developed numerous other services in AWS.
What was the team composition?
We typically had one PM, a Tech Lead, and 3-4 developers.
Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?
I can share that with Headspring, we have been able to deploy our system into several well-known hospitals and the system has been well-received by all of them.
How was project management arranged and how effective was it?
Headspring has one of the best project management methodologies that I have seen. They are agile and well document and communicate so that all stakeholders know what is going on with the project.
What did you find most impressive about this company?
The most impressive thing about Headspring to me is that they really care about their customer’s success and it shows in their work ethic, professionalism, and attitude.
Are there any areas for improvement?
We all have room for improvement, but Headspring is about as close to excellent as it gets.
Headspring delivered seamlessly, allowing the client to launch the project uninterrupted. Aside from the work they provided, they also acted as great mentors to the in-house team. The communication was spot-on, and the team was accessible. The overall experience was delightful.
