BACKGROUND

Please describe your company and your position there.

I am the co-founder and President of the Joshua Frase Foundation (JFF). Our foundation has been forging a path in regenerative medicine for a rare and fatal neuromuscular disorder in children. JFF’s mission is twofold: To find a cure or treatment for centronuclear and myotubular myopathies and to support families whose lives are affected by this disorder.

An International Family Registry for Centronuclear and Myotubular Myopathies was translated into five languages. The translation had to meet the approval of two PI's working on an institutional level. Quality and most competitive rates.

I'm the publications specialist at an RV manufacturing company.

We needed to translate some of our RV manuals from English to French Canadian.

What was the scope of their involvement?

GTS Translation translated some of our RV manuals, ranging from 160–220 pages, from English to French Canadian. We provided the files to them in InDesign, and they returned them in the same format. 

What is the team composition? 

I only worked directly with one person managing the project.

How did you come to work with GTS Translation?

I found them online and decided to work with them based on their positive reviews, responsiveness, and pricing compared to others. 

How much have you invested with them?

We invested a little under $25,000 CAD (about $19,000 USD).

What is the status of this engagement?

We worked with them from December 2018–March 2019.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

The first book GTS Translation completed was sent to one of our Canadian dealers to verify the quality of the text. Once we were given the green light from them, we proceeded with the rest of the translations, which have now all been out for a couple of months. We haven't heard back any negative feedback, so we're assuming the translations were done well. 

How did GTS Translation perform from a project management standpoint?

As far as uploading files and getting quotes back from their team initially, they were incredibly fast. They were also the most responsive out of all the vendors we considered working with. Although their layouts in InDesign required fixing, they did a great job of turning around the translations on a tight deadline. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

It was my first experience working with a translation company, but out of all the vendors we considered, they were the quickest to provide a quote and the most competitively priced. Their turnaround times were also up to twice as fast as others.

Are there any areas they could improve?

Not really. There were a couple of times when they missed some text, but they were very responsive and proactive about fixing it. 

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Make sure to get all questions answered up front, so they're able to manage expectations.
