A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this
client over the phone. Below is an edited
transcript.
BACKGROUND
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the head of growth for Trucknetic, and we’re essentially trying to build an Uber for trucks. It’s a service for people that need to move goods and services across the nation.
OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE
What challenge were you trying to address with GrowthScribe?
They’re helping us with several things, primarily with website development.
SOLUTION
What was the scope of their involvement?
GrowthScribe is providing web development services, but they’re also handling logo design and a few other services. Considering that we’re in the logistics industry, we have to cater to the different stakeholders in the market. We’re sort of like a marketplace and can serve different types of industries and companies of all sizes. So with that being said, we needed to create a brand story that reflected that in a cost-effective way.
Our second priority is optimization, and the third priority involves pushing data from point A to B through our app and website. For example, let's say someone pushes a lead on the app, there are two different tabs. We needed to figure out how that data translates and how it can be pushed to a Google sheet that could then be used by the sales team or a CRM system.
They’ve been handling all of these things, from finalizing the branding to creating a logo and designing how the UI/UX is going to look for the entire website. In total, there are three websites that need to be made and have all been completed now. Also, there are four logos that need to be created, and the optimization work is still ongoing.
What is the team composition?
I primarily communicate with the founder, who’s a good friend of mine. I actually don’t want to interact with anyone else, and I’ve made it very clear to him that I want to keep most of the communication with him since we’ve worked on different projects together in the last couple of years. My team still coordinates with their team whenever we need something. Considering that, I believe about six or seven people are closely from GrowthScribe are working on this project.
How much have you invested with them?
So far, we’ve spent around 3,500 USD for their services.
What is the status of this engagement?
We started working with them in January 2022, and our collaboration is still ongoing.
RESULTS & FEEDBACK
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
GrowthSribe has been able to understand what’s on our minds and ask the right questions, even though we give them very vague details. They’ve really helped us understand exactly what we wanted. Additionally, they’ve been able to keep our branding intact. They understand that our target market is traditional business people, not fancy folks who try to do jazzy stuff.
With respect to the speed optimizations, our website loads in 0.5 seconds, and we’ve gotten A grades on all web optimization reports. In the data portion of the work, we're able to move data from here to there — whatever data we want, we're able to automatically move it wherever. Data pushing is one of the biggest challenges I've seen in this market, but this is one of their team’s fortes; they really know how to push data.
How did GrowthScribe perform from a project management standpoint?
There’ve been some initial challenges; I work with different companies and vendors as a consultant, so when you engage anyone for anything, it takes some time, probably around 15 days, to basically set things straight and understand how to do the work. But after that, we’ve managed to streamline the processes.
We hold two weekly calls to talk about all the updates happening from both ends and to discuss what needs to be done. While there’ve been a couple of hiccups in trying to change the process from two weekly calls to one, they’ve stayed persistent and things eventually stabilized.
We use Notion to assign, manage, and process tasks smoothly. Apart from that, we interact through WhatsApp, phone calls, Zoom, and email as well.
What did you find most impressive about them?
There are three things that I’ve been primarily impressed with. First, it’s their ability to ask the right questions; I really love working with people who are experts in their field, know much more than I do, and can basically read my mind. Second, data pushing has been a big challenge for this project, so when I was looking for someone to do this project, almost nobody responded except for their team. Lastly, it’s their talent and knowledge about speed optimization.
Are there any areas they could improve?
They’re very process-oriented people, and I honestly hate that sometimes. I’m one of those people that want to execute rather than spend time on planning. It takes a lot of time to get started and while I like the questions they ask, it becomes overbearing at times.
For the first couple of months, there were a lot of things that they wanted to know, but we didn’t have enough answers, and I just wanted to get the project started. While it probably is a good way to approach projects, they could’ve done things in a quicker way.
Another issue is that they do a lot of work in the background, but they don’t show it. They should provide more proof of their work because, as the client, I have to give answers to my team and other stakeholders.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Setting clear communication is very important. GrowthScribe is an expert at certain things, primarily data pushing and branding. As the client, you have to sometime push down your ego and understand that they are the experts. If need be, ask them questions to get to know their thought process behind what they’re doing because they will most likely have a good explanation for it.

BACKGROUND
Please describe your company and your position there.
I am the founder of samurai marketers
OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE
For what projects/services did your company hire GrowthScribe?
we hired growthscribe to develop our website. we wanted the theme tobe around japan and samurai because our agency's name is samurai marketers.
SOLUTION
How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?
we asked around in our network and went ahead with them after seeing what work they have done with other agency websites.
Describe the project in detail and walk through the stages of the project.
First they asked us what should the theme of the agency should be. We told them that it should be around Japan and samurai. Next they developed some designs of each of the 5 pages and we chose one and gave suggestions to improve it. After some back and forth we were happy with the final design
How many resources from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?
I think we worked with 3 people from their team. The project manager, the designer and the copywriter.
RESULTS & FEEDBACK
Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?
I have had a couple of people tell me that the website looks really cool. Since we work with SaaS companies, we needed to look professional, and the website surely helped with that.
How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?
it was pretty smooth. A trello board was setup where i could submit requests and they fulfilled them and kept me updated with the progress on the site.
What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?
I am really impressed how flexible these guys are. I am a bit picky when it comes to design and asked for multiple revisions to the webpages and they were always happy to do so.
Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?
They could probably improve their copywriting capabilities a bit.
