BACKGROUND

Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m one of the co-owners of Raider Wildlife Control, and we’re a premier wildlife company based in Southern Ontario. We also do a bit of pest control, but our main focus is definitely wildlife. We cover from Mississauga to Niagara Falls.

We’ve been in business for almost four years now, and we’ve risen to the ranks in a very short span just based on how we do things. We don’t do things the conventional way that most wildlife companies do. We care more about the esthetic side of things, on top of dealing with actual animal issues.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with GraphixFlo?

It wasn’t necessarily a challenge. I was aware of GraphixFlo’s deep profile and the quality of their work, so we just felt that they perfectly suit us in terms of what we want to create.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

GraphixFlo provides us with ongoing web development and graphic design services. They initially built our website and designed our business cards. They make the changes that are necessary to the website and maintain our security certificate.

Additionally, they help us with general graphic design work. It was imperative that we went through a bunch of iterations before deciding on what we wanted. We’re a Canadian company, so we wanted to have a maple leaf and obviously a raccoon in there. We went through several changes, and finally came up with something that made sense for us. 

The content management system they used for the website was WordPress. It’s used on the backend of our website.

What is the team composition?

I deal with Flo (Owner & Designer) exclusively, though I know there are other people that work for him. 

How did you come to work with GraphixFlo?

He’s a local in Stony Creek, so I had heard of his name before. I actually dealt with him on another project from 15–20 years ago. We used mailouts and I went to him because he used to work in a print shop.

I just get a sense of comfort and trust, because he’s always been a man of his word. As cheesy as that sounds, anything you want him to do, he’ll always do it — so we’ve never really had any hiccups working together.

How much have you invested with them?

So far, we’ve probably invested around $10,000–$20,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

Our ongoing relationship started in February 2017.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

The logo they designed is a pretty distinct logo. People love the color scheme, there’s something about red and black together having such a natural attraction. If a lot of people want to buy our hats because of the logo, then that’s great.

We gave away some hats to what we call our “super clients”, and they just blow us up and start telling everybody about us — everybody’s calling us because of these people, so there’s definitely a bit of a buzz about our logo for sure.

The partnership is great and fun. They’re very easy to work with, and there’s no angst going back and forth. I’m very picky, and so is the partner in that company. We have to go through a lot of changes and both of us have to agree on everything.

How did GraphixFlo perform from a project management standpoint?

Flo keeps it short, sweet, and to the point. A lot of salespeople nowadays talk a lot of fluff, but Flo isn’t like that at all — he’s the polar opposite. It’s nice to hear because it doesn’t feel like he’s selling something. It’s just a clean conversation with him.

What did you find most impressive about them?

I like how we have a simple relationship, where he delivers on what we need and we don’t really experience any hiccups working together.

Are there any areas they could improve?

Honestly, I can’t think of anything as cheesy or as good as that sounds. He just delivers.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

GraphicxFlo’s creative design is above average and their timelines are always met. Those are the biggest things for anybody looking for graphic or web design services. Hopefully, my recommendation helps people make an easy decision towards him, because he’s really good at what he does.
