I’m an executive for an executive recruiting firm; we primarily offer executive search services. However, we also have a secondary business that offers candidate assessment tools to help managers make more informed hiring decisions.

What challenge were you trying to address with GoodYou Marketing?
We wanted to grow our candidate assessment business because our search practice was very robust. My goal was to hire a marketing company to promote our products and service offerings more directly and bring in new clients.

What was the scope of their involvement?
GoodYou Marketing supported our digital marketing efforts for our secondary business. I provided preliminary information and documentation, and they utilized their marketing expertise to create an informational landing page from scratch. The team was responsible for creating visual assets for the landing page, and they helped us with hosting.
They also researched other search firms and tested different marketing strategies before helping us implement Google Ads campaigns to attract the right audience.
What is the team composition?
I worked primarily with two partners, who occasionally brought in another resource to help with the landing page.
How did you come to work with GoodYou Marketing?
They were referred to me. I spoke with 3–4 service providers before choosing GoodYou Marketing. They weren’t the cheapest option, but I liked their working style, and they gave me confidence that they knew what they were doing, so I felt comfortable putting my budget in their hands.

We spent $9,000 with them.

We worked together from July–November 2022.
RESULTS & FEEDBACK
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
The goal for the landing page was to generate interest and increase our requests for demos. After working with GoodYou Marketing, our site traffic and leads increased notably, but only five of the 50 leads they generated were qualified. Since we offer tools for candidates, many of the leads were candidates rather than interested members of our target audience.
However, I was pleased with their work overall, and the partnership was worthwhile. They essentially eliminated all the technical problems that I didn’t have the bandwidth to learn how to solve. Even though the results didn’t quite hit the mark, working with them was the right decision because they gave me valuable insights that I’m using to reevaluate my business strategy.
How did GoodYou Marketing perform from a project management standpoint?
GoodYou Marketing did a stellar job. They delivered work on time and within budget and were responsive to my needs. They worked iteratively, allowing me to review each version of the landing page and provide feedback.
The team also provided weekly reports, and we met monthly to review results and plan strategies via Google Meet. We mainly communicated via email, but they were always available via phone.
What did you find most impressive about them?
I was most impressed with GoodYou Marketing’s technical expertise. They were very knowledgeable, which gave me confidence that my business was in good hands.
Before working with them, I had dabbled in Google Ads, but I didn’t know what I was doing. The biggest benefit of working with GoodYou Marketing was that they knew exactly what they were doing. They measured everything, kept me informed, and took steps to limit my spending.

Our website was created as a one sheet landing page and did not have the look or functionality I wanted. We hired Goodyou to collaborate on the redesign and functionality of the site to encompass both the furniture shopping and interior design packaging we offer.

After searching the web and talking to several companies I determined the Goodyou not only were the right technically and creative team to do the job; they also quickly understood the nuance and personality of the project and the owner (me). Thus, making the project easy for all involved because we were on the same page from the start.

I’m a co-founder of a learn-to-code company helping people change careers from non-technical or technical-adjacent roles to software engineering jobs. We take them to an immersive learning program akin to vocational training, where they learn by coding apps and projects in a collaborative environment. Then, we introduce them to companies that hire graduates from the program. To date, we’ve helped over 900 people change their lives through our program since our inception.

What challenge were you trying to address with GoodYou Marketing?
We wanted people to know that our program was an option for them. For context, many people didn’t know about our niche industry. Most of the time, they thought they only had two options, namely going back to school to study or learning on their own online. Few people knew that we existed, so our goal with GoodYou was to let more people know about us.
SOLUTION
What was the scope of their involvement?
Prior to working with GoodYou, we were doing Facebook ads. However, the leads we gained were of low quality, so we transitioned and focused more on Google Ads with them. That was the first phase of our collaboration.
At present, we’re starting to pivot to video ads on YouTube. We’ll test them in September 2021. Meanwhile, the intent of our ad campaign is to drive people to our landing pages. The content of those pages is tied with the ad itself. They contain more descriptive content about specific themes, including career changes, impostor syndrome, or success stories of our former students. Instead of driving the users to the bottom of the funnel right away, we offer them informational calls. People want to spend 10–15 minutes on a phone call first before diving into the high-stress scenario of a Zoom interview.
GoodYou directs another third-party agency to tackle the creative side of the ads. That other agency also handles the creative aspects of our landing pages. Meanwhile, GoodYou creates the actual search ads on their own, testing them based on the competitive industry analyses they’ve performed.

Our success metrics are based on the bottom-of-the-funnel results. We hold GoodYou to a specific cost of acquisition cap that blends paid marketing dollars outlaid and their fees. In our engagement, they have remained below that cap, so I’m happy with their performance.
How did GoodYou Marketing perform from a project management standpoint?
For project management, they report to us on a weekly basis. We communicate via Slack on almost a daily basis for tactical perspectives. Then, we meet monthly for top-level strategic planning for the incoming month.
What did you find most impressive about them?
Their responsiveness is the best part of working with them.
Are there any areas they could improve?
No, there aren’t any. I find no real areas of pain in our engagement so far.

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?
We found GoodYou Marketing after searching for local agencies in the area. Though they were just starting out when we found them, their reviews were great!

Jeff assisted us with creating a full analysis of our hotel using Google My Business, our social media platforms, Google Analytics, and their own resources. We went over this analysis in detail while Jeff was able to provide us with some attainable first steps. Since our first meeting we have chatted at least once a month to track progress and create new goals for the future. We've seen nothing but great results!

The Cabot Lodge worked with Jeff and Jason, who were both extremely knowledgable and professional.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?
We have increased our social media followings and enhanced our website SEO. Since working with GoodYou marketing we have seen a 44% increase of new users to our website. We are excited to start running Google Ads during our slower months and know we will see our numbers jump again!

We have zoom meetings at least once per month and email often. Jeff and the team are very responsive and communicative.

I’m the owner of Vest Technical Solutions. We are an IT company that does an array of technology work. A big core of what we do is deal with applications like Microsoft 365. Our business has been growing a lot, and the work we had been doing on our own became too much to handle. We needed marketing services to get more clients through advertising because we had been getting all of our customers through word of mouth.

What was the scope of their involvement?
GoodYou Marketing has been handling several digital marketing services for us. The team has worked on Google Ads, drip and email campaigns, Facebook advertising, and fixed some aspects of our website. They’ve built landing pages so clients can request consultations and quotes and have a place to go when they click on our advertisements.
They’ve done a lot of keyword research to get the right terms that have to be used in order to come up higher on search results. When we don’t have time to create content, they have somebody that can help us with that. Another provider did a video for us and the team has helped us market it as well.

Our main points of contact have been Jason (Co-Founder) and Jeff (Partner). Jason is in charge of our website and search results, and Jeff focuses more on digital advertising, like Google Ads.

Their work has had an amazing impact on our business. Before working with GoodYou Marketing, there’s no way our website would have come up on search results, so it’s a lot more visible now. We currently have a decent following on Facebook and LinkedIn, on which we’ve gained probably a couple of hundred followers.
We’ve received a lot of good feedback from customers, who have praised the team’s marketing and advertising efforts. One of my clients liked their work so much that I actually recommended GoodYou Marketing to them.

We have weekly meetings and use Google Docs, Office 365, and Microsoft Teams.

The team is easygoing, flexible, and agile, which has been great for us because we have a very agile workflow as well. They understand our needs and provide exactly what we ask for. For instance, we didn’t want to oversell our services and make ourselves seem like just a salesperson that’s trying to make money. We wanted to communicate we genuinely are trying to help people, and GoodYou Marketing has done an awesome job at that.

I don’t have anything for them to improve. They’ve been great and more than I could have asked for.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
My advice is to be flexible. I believe this is why we’ve had such a good relationship. We are both service providers and understand what a good and a bad client is, so we try to be a good one. I'd also recommend potential customers to let them do their job. If you’re going to be constantly changing your mind and slowing down processes, the team is not going to be able to achieve your goals. Trust them, they're professionals.
