For this project our goal was to redesign the existing eCommerce website with a modernized design that is easy to use on mobile and tablet devices. As a nopCommerce development company we

utilized this platform for the website which is fully integrated with the client's SAP ERP system. This build is backend development heavy, we set up a series of API's during the checkout process to send orders and new customer data directly into the ERP. This build is unique because the ERP is doing all the work for nopCommerce during checkout: it is the payment gateway, the shipping API, and the discount "calculator".

On our site, they make regular structural changes. Their developers have added tabs, a career page, forms, and location tools. We’re in the process of revamping the entire site over the next few months.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Since beginning our engagement two years ago, we’ve generated $5 million in opportunities and over $1 million in actual sales. We’ve improved our organic search result placement, as well. Additionally, we’re still seeing responses from campaigns we ran 6–8 months ago.

How did GoldenComm perform from a project management standpoint?

GoldenComm meets our deadlines and they exceed our expectations. For every project, we’ve given them clear requirements and they deliver work with equal clarity. They’ve never let me down. Communication between our teams is outstanding. I talk to Tim once a week usually, but definitely every other week, at least. We use GoToMeeting to manage our workflows and share screens, and they create special charts, slides, and graphs.

They bring a great level of knowledge and understanding to the engagement. They’re excellent at explaining things to us, which is helpful. It truly feels like a partnership.

A lot of quality leads were received through advertising. The website is user-friendly and expertly done. We’ve seen an increase of users going through the site, downloading brochures and setting up demos.

How did GoldenComm perform from a project management standpoint?

GoldenComm gave in-depth reporting. Every month, we receive PPC reports detailing our goals and conversions we gained. Initially, they would check in weekly, but that’s moved to bi-weekly check-ins. Their team is responsive through email. Whenever we have projects or other tasks come up, we can call them along with corresponding through email.  

What did you find most impressive about them?

I appreciate their organization. In every call, we go through certain points. GoldenComm is on top of everything, even things that have slipped our minds. They ask about different aspects to make sure they are at the forefront of our minds. GoldenComm works together to give their clients the best results, through advertising, design, and site optimization.

I'm the president and CEO of Mars Air System. We manufacture an air curtain, which is a piece of HVAC equipment.

What challenge were you trying to address with GoldenComm? 

We had spoken with them in the past on specific marketing initiatives around our 50th anniversary in business. When we started looking at the marketing, we realized we really needed to conduct a brand discovery first. We worked with a branding firm before reaching back out to GoldenComm to apply what we learned.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Unfortunately, our website was hacked, so it was a bit more involved than we’d planned. GoldenComm started not by focusing on our future goals but by putting the pillars in place needed to repair the site and get it back up again. They jumped in and quickly got the hacked website repaired, patched up, and functional. 

That led to a conversation about relaunching and rebuilding a new website. The old site was built on open source architecture. After living through the vulnerability of being hacked, that's not where we wanted to go again. We also wanted to have the potential of adding an e-commerce platform down the road. So they built the new site with a more solid and secure infrastructure. They also created the ability to report out front- and backend metrics, such as areas of the site where users go to most frequently.

They're currently working on the next phase of the website experience and the potential for e-commerce. GoldenComm is helping us think about how we can improve the user experience and move people through a sales funnel. We want users to be able to get more information or a quote, ultimately driving more sales opportunities through the website.

Our main contact is Taylor (online marketing analyst, GoldenComm). We also work with a project manager for the website rebuild and a digital marketing lead. I have a relationship with Jason (CEO, GoldenComm) because of the years that we've been working together.

They were one of three firms that the branding company recommended. They weren’t the lowest, but I really liked their proposal.

Industry and customer feedback is excellent. Companies that are much bigger than us are acknowledging our efforts. They approach us wanting to know how we can be partners and if we’d share some of our best practices. The software is really cool. GoldenComm is moving us into a more advanced space with these cutting-edge initiatives.

We have a standing weekly status meeting with Taylor every Thursday. It’s great having various members of their team—including senior leadership—work with us on our project.

GoldenComm really listens. When we were hacked, they heard our concerns about moving quickly to get our site fixed before talking about what the future site should look like. They have a lot of customers, so it’s their willingness to listen that stands out. They also share cool ideas with us. They let us know what they see in the industry in terms of software, technology, and marketing. They don’t push solutions on us but instead want to find what works for us and what makes sense. 

Are there any areas they could improve? 

There's always room for improvement. Nothing beats face-to-face meetings with their senior team and our senior team. Every time we have an in-person meeting we’re better able to get on the same page and move things to the next level. It would be better if they were able to do that more frequently.

Their technology blew me away in the demo, and I was sold.

GoldenComm created a web landing page that provides a local contact number that’s different depending on the user’s location. The call comes directly to my cell phone, so I receive every one that comes in. They also provide sales training so that I can better offer a quote and get the caller to hire us. They record the calls that come in and give me tips and instruction on how to sell our service.

Internally, we’re blown away with how well the new site functions and looks compared to the previous iteration. I’m positive that it’s a useful resource for our sales team to help convey who we are. In fact, from a recruiting standpoint, many candidates have said that our site was a contributing factor in drawing them in.

How did GoldenComm perform from a project management standpoint?

Although there were some delays, GoldenComm helped us meet our deadlines. It can be hard for us to get back to them with assets or look at every draft before production because we’re such a small team. But they kept us on track, and we were able to launch on schedule.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Now that the site is live and I’m managing the content, it’s reassuring to know that they’re supporting us. The team is open to all of our questions, no matter how small, and they can identify if an issue is caused by the backend or user error. I feel comfortable approaching them, and they make sure that we’re utilizing the site to its fullest.

Are there any areas they could improve?

They could be more forthcoming in explaining the site strategy and how they’re helping with our efforts.

GoldenComm rebuilt our website from scratch using multiple languages. They created different features, including a contact page for other businesses to use.

All information is shared through email, but we can follow up with a phone call whenever necessary. They’re easy to communicate with and are attentive to our needs. They respond quickly whenever we need them to make changes or support us.

What was the scope of their involvement?

GoldenComm developed two websites us and created new marketing collateral. One site features our transportation management product, while the other hosts a brokerage system. Both sites are integrated with the primary company website. They used WordPress to build out each platform.

They developed each site to include clickable phone numbers that function on mobile devices. That feature allows us to see when customers call, who they talk too, and what we can we do to make a conversion. So not only are we generating leads, but we can track what happens to them.

Another important aspect of our relationship with GoldenComm is their efforts improve our digital marketing reach. Their team ensures that our marketing collateral drives people to our sites. They also oversee our Google Ads campaigns and design marketing banners for new products. By developing content that applies to the entire brand, we can integrate each deliverable with any section of the company’s overall platform.

An online marketing analyst is our primary point of contact. He essentially acts the project manager.

How did you come to work with GoldenComm?

Their CEO gave a presentation to our company’s CEO at a networking event of sorts. Subsequently, I was asked to meet with them and see what they could offer us in greater detail. We hired them to run our PPC campaign on a short-term basis. They proved to be a valuable asset to our team, so we hired them for a long-term engagement.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Thanks to GoldenComm, we have a much better method of tracking qualified leads than we used too. They’ve made it a lot easier to trace the path of how customers find out about our brand, what makes them interested in our services, and how they contact our representatives. We appreciate having those tools integrated with our day-to-day operations.

Strategically speaking, they’ve don’t a great job. They guide us through the ideation process and recommend viable solutions. Their team listens to our needs and works hard to deliver what we want. Our expectations are always met.

How did GoldenComm perform from a project management standpoint?

They manage me more than I manage them. We have a lot of things going on simultaneously, so it’s nice to have a partner that can take on significant responsibility. We have regular meetings with them to discuss current initiatives and goals for the future. Those meetings are usually done over the phone. More immediate issues are communicated through email. If I need them to update the site suddenly, they’ll respond within an hour.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They’re responsive, productive, and thorough. I trust their abilities enough not to double-check what they deliver. I know they’ll accomplish each task I give them. The whole team works to do the best job they can.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I’d love to see them innovate their deliverables from a design perspective. I’m satisfied with what they deliver, but I’d like to see them go beyond our expectations.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

They have plenty to offer, so future clients of theirs should start each project with a detailed plan in place. The more clients are prepared, the better work they can do.

We needed someone to implement an e-commerce solution using the Magenta platform. We were setting up a website to sell EtherWAN products and integrate with our Sage ERP system.

What was the scope of their involvement?

We had an existing pilot site that GoldenComm evaluated and used as the basis for their recommendations. The site had lots of code and wireframes, so GoldenComm moved it over to the Magento system. They also added a few features and updated some components to make the site function better, such as integrating a new payment system.

We interacted with a sales member, architect, and project manager.

How did you come to work with GoldenComm?

We asked Adobe to recommend partners to implement our product, and they gave us three companies. GoldenComm was located near our Anaheim office, and they immediately understood our business and what we wanted to accomplish. They were also honest and forthright about what they could and couldn’t do, so we hired them. Plus, the value for the services they offered was the most economical.

It’s too early to have quantitative results, but they met expectations and everything is working well. If there were any bugs, GoldenComm fixed them right away. We haven’t had any crashes with the final product.

The team was geographically diverse, but they managed the distance and time differences well. We mainly communicated via phone and email, but I would’ve appreciated more documentation.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They were highly organized and well-connected for a virtual team. The architect was knowledgeable and always researched questions whenever he wasn’t sure about the answer.

Are there any areas they could improve?

We had some timing issues, but it was never a big deal. Clearer documentation would’ve solved that.

Understand what deliverables you want and when they’re due.
