We hired Global Point Technology Solutions to set up our severs and maintain them.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

We decided to set up two connected servers, one for our business software and one for our Wifi and file serving. We continued to run our old server while Global Point Technology Solutions set up the new ones. They did an Exchange to Office 365 migration and a Windows 2018 to Windows 2019 virtual server migration. They also set Hyper-V Replica in a Data Protection Manager (DPM) configuration, reporting, ESET Cloud AV, and a Microsoft Azure Backup. They configured backups in-house, offsite, and to a set of drives.

Global Point Technology Solutions continues to check on our servers and backups each month.

What is the team composition?

I work with Greg (Founder and Executive Director, Global Point Technology Solutions) and Brian (Junior Admin, Global Point Technology Solutions).

How did you come to work with Global Point Technology Solutions?

We were looking for a company to do server maintenance regularly. After meeting with Global Point Technology Solutions, they seemed to offer good services. They also weren’t far from our office.

My company spent around $30,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

Global Point Technology Solutions completed the server migration and setup from September 2018–January 2019, and they provide ongoing support.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

The servers are working very nicely.

How did Global Point Technology Solutions perform from a project management standpoint?

We communicated directly with Greg throughout the server migration. We called him to discuss what we were going to do and how we were going to do it, and that worked out well. Now, we call Brian if we encounter any issues with the servers or backups.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Their ongoing backup service is very good.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, I’m pleased with the way things are going.

Any advice for potential customers?

Coordinate with Global Point Technology Solutions on the schedule. For us, it was better to keep the old server up and do the migration slowly rather than going offline and doing it quickly.

We have used Global Point Technology Solutions for at least the last five years. We have used them for every part of our technology solutions. They have provided us with server support, cloud backup, antivirus, software implementation, hardware support and purchases, and more.

After switching to Global Point Technology Solutions, our systems were more secure and sound. We also had a solid backup system implemented. My goals for all our projects have been met or exceeded.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

All of their project managers, including Greg, have been amazing. They communicate the work that needs to be done and always try to make it as convenient as possible for our business. They do everything they can after hours as not to create problems for our office.

I don't have to email or create tickets in order to get help. I pick up the phone and there is always someone available to help me immediately or within a very short time. It's refreshing not to have to go through a thousand prompts to get someone on the phone when you need immediate help or just have a quick question.

We also switched from hosting our own exchange to Office 365 within the last two years, and the switch was easy and seamless and didn't affect our workflow whatsoever.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

I am most impressed at the level of personal service and their knowledge of the industry. It's sometimes hard to understand all the technical language that they use, but they always take the time to explain it to me, even if I need them to do it multiple times. They are extremely patient with people that don't know all that much about computers.

Global Point manages our server and everything from the outside world that interacts with the server. They also manage some of the work beyond the scope of our internal systems.

They work with us on an as-needed basis. We originally hired them years ago at another office. When we moved to this building, they managed our system and server move. We relocated again a few years later to another office in the same building, and they assisted with that move as well. Occasionally, they need to be in the office to take care of things, but they primarily work remotely to manage the firewall and the server from their offices. We’ve also migrated to a new server with their help.

I usually work with two to three people.

We had two other network system providers that managed our server previously. They weren't working well for us, and they were charging us without producing what we needed. I was in contact with the founder of Global Point at the time, and I knew he had the knowledge and expertise to serve us. I had a couple of options, but they were the top of the list.

They deal with emergencies immediately, and always have a solution within a couple of hours. They address all of our issues, they're very cordial, and they never talk down to me. A big part of our relationship is their attitude.

They're very accommodating and patient. We're starting a new project now to migrate our server to a cloud system. All of our hardware and laptops need to be migrated. They're terrific to work with in large projects that require hands-on work and analysis.

Their technical abilities are highly advanced, and their depth of knowledge saves us money. We never have to wait for them to figure out how to fix things.
