They delivered each milestone after testing and it was excellent. The desired features include: login and registration, user management, API integration, payment management, admin panel.

We have a unique value proposition for the job seekers on our market and this project is a huge step forward for us to go digital with the product. Our launch date is April 1, 2020, but due to the pandemic we are forced to postpone our launch date.

It was good overall, the team did their best at estimating and developing the needed functionalities. They were very responsive and deadlines were met in all the 4 milestones. Our time zones were very close and we didn't face any problem regarding this and we never faced any issue regarding language as all speak a fluent English.

Giraffe Software is an experienced and professional team. They understood our needs early and it was easy for them to plan and develop according to specifications. It's always a big deal for a client to get a professional team at an affordable rate. We are very happy with what we got and we will definitely work with them for future projects.

The project was completed a few days ago. We have already started using the platform and are currently on-boarding other users. The solution will put our business on the map based on the objectives set, we will be able to start providing our SaaS solution to clients around the world. We have been working on this for two years and in six short weeks, we have an MVP

The allocated developer is great and working on my project for more than 6 month already developing client and server side parts (rest api) using the following tech stack for front-end: Vue.js, for the back end: Node.js/Express.js/MongoDB/AWS(Lambda, S3, API Gateway, WebSockets).

How did you select this vendor?

We contacted several potential vendors for this project, and discussed the project with them. Giraffe asked the right questions. It was apparent that they have experience with systems in the education industry.

The system is quite complex. It entails 7 user roles and different permissions / functionality for each. Parents can view their child's progress, sign contracts, view invoices etc. Students collaborate with their counsellors in developing a study plan, as well as view their personal schedule. Counsellors manage the study program, courses, students etc. Library clerk can add new books to the students' invoice etc. This is just a short introduction to the wide range of features that had to be implemented. We needed an experienced team to do the development, and Giraffe stood out.

At first I worked with Business Analyst. Together we analysed the requirements, to transform the business requirements into technical requirements. Then, Giraffe suggested a team composition based on the requirements. This included a back-end dev, a front-end dev, a project manager and a QA expert.

Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?

Implementation of ARLP is a huge step toward becoming more digital, attracting new students, especially international ones, giving students more freedom in managing their education.

Implementing ARLP allows us to onboard new employees more easily, as the workflow is well-defined for them. It also allows parents, students and employees to always have the latest information about what's going on.

Most importantly, ARLP has streamlined communication over the study plan. The study plan describes which courses a student needs to take this school year. It is different for each student, based on their needs and purposes. Previously, this process was very tedious. It was done by exchanging an excel file over email. Now, it's very simple for the student and the school counselor. We have reduced the required time for this task, as well as the room for human errors.

How was project management arranged and how effective was it?

It was great. We had weekly calls about the requirements and the project's progress. After each call, I was sent an overview of the decisions we made during the call. Often times, the developers took part in these calls as well, to reduce the chance of any loss of information. The project was transferred to a new project manager along the way, and the transition went really smoothly. We hardly even noticed the change.

We were given access to the project Jira to see how tasks advanced forward. Giraffe is offshore to us, and we communicated via English, which is not the native language for none of the persons involved in the project. This didn't pose any issues. In the very few occasions where the project manager had a feeling that there is chance for a language-related misunderstandings, they illustrated their ideas with logical examples.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

Holistic approach and responsiveness in communication. It felt like the project was this team's own. They always strived to deliver a quality product, and they didn't leave much to chance.

Are there any areas for improvement?

There is not much I could suggest in this regard. Giraffe works well.

Initially, their team worked independently from our internal developers. They're building a centralized, PHP backend with a JavaScript frontend that can be installed in various locations. Their design is such that it works internally, as we use it now, but we can also build a SaaS product around it later. They researched and recommended the specific technologies we should use.

We liked their work so much we’ve brought them onboard other software development projects, working closely with our in-house staff.

We have similar approaches to work, seeing as we’re based in the same region. Their communication and proactivity allow us to be highly efficient. It also produces a qualitatively better result than our cooperations with past vendors did.

We communicate directly with their two assigned resources. They did offer us a manager, but we prefer direct contact with the developers. Everyone at their company is responsive, and it was easy to overcome the initial hiccups present in all software development projects. They are definitely the right partner for us.

They’re flexible and dedicated to helping their clients. Their location in a smaller metropolitan area gives them a cost advantage compared to other suppliers.

Our current projects are progressing nicely, but if we started a larger project, I would certainly look for more thorough reporting of work hours. I don’t have any suggestions for improvement now, however.
