Our website already existed having been put together by one of my colleagues. It was working but had a few issues with orders being processed through the website coming from multiple sources and various business rules that needed to be maintained properly. Genixbit had to change our template while we could continue to operate seamlessly. We’re working with several 3PL warehouses to make sure our orders keep flowing. There were several people on their team working on it. They communicated well with me and my colleagues at Powered by People (PBP).

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

The most important metric for us was that we didn’t lose a single order which was critical. We were able to add more products to our line and Genixbit supported that with additional fields and better product presentation. They added more couponing options for us and everything is working smoothly. We’re very happy with the outcome.

Their project management was good. For me, the two key metrics were time and the effectiveness of the solution, and it looked like both were met. Genixbit was responsive so we didn’t have to wait around. In the past we’ve hired companies to address similar business goals and it would take days for someone to get back to me. That’s just not acceptable especially for a live site. Their communication was great.

What I like about Genixbit is they’re available. I could get someone on the phone and they would call me back quickly. Honestly I have nothing but good things to say about them.

I don’t run a tech company here so I don’t have specific feedback. But I think they should keep doing what they’re doing. That will allow them to scale.

• We’re a non-profit so we’re funded through grants from private foundations or organizations. We have a very small team and can’t support a full time development team and staff. Genixbit augments our overall team as a development and technology partner. We were with another organization that couldn’t scale with our growth strategy so I reached out to Genixbit.

Genixbit help us with new features and changes on our site. They do server and website maintenance for us. We considered moving to a more user friendly web environment but decided to stick with Ruby on Rails. Genixbit is off site, they have a project manager and a senior team that I work with in New York. They assign the team from their offshore locations depending on the size and scope of the project. They have been great. I love them.

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

I recommend Genixbit to colleagues and community based organizations in the higher education space whenever I get the chance. There are other organizations like ours that don’t have the resources for a full time development team. Genixbit has helped me hit my acquisition and retention goals. Because of them I got approval from senior management to move forward with other digital development. They’re fast and smart.

No, not at all. Although the timeline was extended, I was informed about it from the beginning. There's nothing they need to improve.

We needed to improve our inventory system. We sell items individually through Shopify, but we also offer package deals. The platform doesn’t support this so we reached out to Genixbit, explained the project and got a time and price quote.

Genixbit worked on our Shopify store. I’m not sure what resources they used on their end but they provided us with a budget and timeline for the project. We went over the initial timeline, and it worked out. Once we got the updated timeline there were no further delays.
Every time we needed to reach out to Genixbit after the project was completed for any changes or bug fixes, they responded promptly and fixed the issues. I just reached out to them again for another project. We needed to print out an invoice for every single order for 7 months, along with shipping and billing info. Shopify doesn’t have a bulk functionality for this and our reps started doing it one by one for 6,000 orders. Shopify support wasn’t very helpful, so I remembered using Genixbit for our last project. 
I emailed them and explained the situation. They estimated it would take 1-2 hours to code and test the solution. It worked great. We handle marketing and strategic work in-house and have only used Genixbit for development.

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

We created a package deal functionality. We don’t have metrics on it but it has automated our inventory and made it easier for clients to buy in bulk. Our main goal was to fix an operational inefficiency that was annoying the team. People have been happy with the functionality but it’s only for backend use.

I value accuracy and having things done exactly as requested. I’m specific about how I like things done and Genixbit has always accommodated this. Cost was my least concern, then timelines but accuracy was always first. Genixbit’s team realized the project was more complex than they thought but I don’t think the delay was because of lack of skill. 
We didn’t have this issue with our second project. I don’t mind things taking longer than expected as long as there’s communication. They would reach out to me whenever there was an issue to extend the timeline.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

Even after we received the application and paid them, we could still reach out to Genixbit and get a quick response. This was important to me, especially after working with many other companies that ignored us. The most impressive thing Genixbit did was take responsibility months after the project was done. 
The experience I had with Genixbit was great, and I would recommend them and use the team again for future tasks.

No, none. The timeline was extended but I was informed from the start. There’s nothing they can improve.

We are working with Genixbit on a multi stage long term plan. We started with a business analysis problem and we are now at the team augmentation stage. In the next stages Genixbit’s engineers will use their learnings from being embedded with us to lead fully outsourced development projects. We are also preparing for Genixbit to provide branded support engineering resources as our customer base grows.

We are on track with Genixbit who were chosen for their vision on outsourcing. We expected them to provide the right people at the right time and to lead the partnership. The outcomes we are seeing are being met as we progress through the program. The Genixbit engineers have met or exceeded expectations in the work they have done.

Genixbit provide all the management resources we need on time and to a high standard. We have been in touch with all levels of the business and have been talking to senior people at Genixbit as we steer the program.

Genixbit is a company trying to break the mold in IT outsourcing, which doesn't come without problems. Having worked with them I can confirm they live up to the hype. We always look at the bigger picture together and they trust us as we trust them so we look forward to continuing the journey.

Are there any areas for improvement or something Genixbit Labs Private Limited could have done differently?

Genixbit are a company trying to break the mould in IT outsourcing and that doesn’t come without its problems. But we wouldn’t nitpick because compared to the problems we’ve had with outsourcing before things are better. We haven’t always got it right on our side either but when we do both sides take the right perspective and focus on the end goal.

Genixbit built a website for one of our big clients with 3D rendering and interactive hotspots. Users could click on specific areas to see detailed imagery, text and overlays. The 3D rendering gave users a full 3D environment experience. They also added touchscreen capabilities to our clients’ training centers. I wasn’t involved in the initial stages of this project so I don’t know the full scope. But I had no issues when I took over the project. Their business consultant introduced me to their development team and they walked me through the code changes. After that we managed the QA process to make sure everything was good. For any code updates we still reach out to Genixbit because they are the most familiar with the website.

Genixbit delivered on time and to budget. Our client was very happy with the work and impressed with the handover to their QA team (they had to go through a corporate process and get approval so the handover was key).

They communicate well – they tell me straight away if a client request can’t be done within a certain timeframe. The project was very collaborative with a lot of back and forth which worked well.
