Geek Informatic & Technologies Private Limited was tasked with developing a comprehensive ecommerce platform for our company here in Kenya using the Magento CMS.

Our product catalog consists of approximately 2500 items. Given our previous experiences, Magento was selected as the preferred CMS for our ecommerce platform. Geek Informatic & Technologies ltd was chosen as our development partner due to their demonstrated expertise in Magento development and PHP programming. 

We generated the mockups and UI designs based on our brand identity. Thereafter we sent these mockups to Geek Informatic & Technologies ltd to start off the project. The project encompassed the following key deliverables:

• Development and implementation of a product catalog system, including product attributes, descriptions, pricing in KES and categorization.
• Creation of a user-friendly shopping cart and checkout process, integrating secure local PeaPal payment gateway.
• Customer Account Management: Implementation of customer registration, account management, order history and wish list features.
• Design and User Experience (UX):
  • Creation of a visually appealing and user-centric website design that aligns with Ideal Ceramics' brand identity, following the mockups we had provided.
  • Development of a responsive website to ensure optimal viewing and functionality across different devices (desktop and mobile).
  • Implementation of an intuitive and easy-to-navigate user interface to enhance user experience.

By delivering these key deliverables, Geek Informatic & Technologies successfully created an ecommerce platform that enabled our company to sell its products online, manage orders efficiently, and provide a positive customer shopping experience.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

The project was successfully delivered on the agreed-upon go-live date, marking a significant milestone.

Key measurable outcomes include:

• The ecommerce website was launched as scheduled on 23 April 2014
• Smooth checkout process: Customers were able to complete purchases without encountering significant issues.
• All testing and bug fixes were done on time
• Regular updates were done and given on Basecamp to our ECommerce Manager

Initially, we were concerned about potential challenges due to the geographical distance between Kenya and India, particularly considering the time difference. However, the developer and project manager at Geek Informatic & Technologies effectively mitigated these concerns through regular project updates and by accommodating our time zone by working a night shift.

This collaborative approach made the entire process smooth and efficient.

Are there any areas for improvement or something Geek Informatic & Technologies Private Limited could have done differently?

While the overall experience was positive, there’s always room for improvement.

One area where they could potentially enhance their service is by further refining their communication skills in written English. Improved clarity in emails and project updates could contribute to even smoother collaboration.

However this was not an issue for us, we are extremely satisfied with their work. We are so pleased with the results that we have engaged them for the third phase of our project.
