Fuego UX was asked to assist with interviewing a series of users for our content platform rework. In addition to interviewing the users, they also provided a list of common behaviors each user set would need in their position, and listed commonalities, patterns in usage, and behavioral workflows. This information culminated with detailed user personas and journey maps which gave our internal design team the ability to design for the specific needs of each user set.

Fuego UX provided detailed information within a quick timeframe and followed up with supplimental research as the needs of the project shifted during their contract. Their team was very professional and the information was instumental in the decision making process. I would recommend Fuego UX for any future work and any team needing excellent UX research and design.

Fuego always on time or ahead of schedule. Very easy and enjoyable to work with. Worked closest with Nate and Jessie, but several others involved as well. They were fabulous and enabled us to move a large project forward very fast.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

They were excellent communicators and very easy to work with. Everyone is flexible, yet asks challenging questions and always strived to create an intuitive and simple UX for our customers. They continually brought new options to the table, suggested areas we can improve and drove customer research. No one on the team had an EV and without being asked Fuego went out and rented one for a day to test and more deeply understand the challenges EV drives face with charging. They continually went above and beyond for this project.

We contracted Fuego UX to help assist us in modernizing our existing application. We really wanted to make sure our customers and prospects felt like they were using a modern application that didn't require a manual to use. With simplicity as our cornerstone we worked with Fuego to identify a scalable foundation that CaliberMind can use for years to come. The goal was to create a new Home Page to get insights into our users hands upon logging in and to create an intuitive navigation.

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

• To create UI wireframes that could be handed to a developer demonstrating the differing states of the pages. Ultimately allowing us to develop and release the new features in a predictable manner.

Fuego was always available with an answer to a question. We relied on stand-ups twice weekly, and a Slack channel with both teams. We communicated our timelines and they worked to meet them consistently.

Their ability to communicate with ease was the best thing about working with Fuego UX. We had productive, short meetings where we communicated the requirements and Fuego was able to take those and go.

I am the co-founder of a worldwide design community that fosters learning, education, community and resource sharing with people in the DesignOps industry.

Our website was created very quickly several years when we were first starting our design community. We didn't anticipate the growth we would receive and realized that the original brand wasn't growing with us so we wanted to work with Fuego UX on the rebrand and website redesign so we could really take our brand and business to the next level.

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

Since I have been in the design industry for almost 20 years, I have had my eye on several design firms and agencies that I would want to work with if the time came to work on my own brand and website. Fuego UX kept coming up and I was continuously impressed with their work. I really liked meeting the co-founders and hearing about how much they value design, process and the user experience. So when it came time to launch this new identity and website, it was a no brainer. I really wanted to work with some of the most talented people in the industry right now and it's Fuego UX.

This was a very smooth and easy process. We met to kick off the project, communicated over Slack, Zoom Calls and provided feedback on all the designs through figma. When it came to launch the project in webflow, they walked me through the process and how Webflow worked and made sure I was comfortable with navigating my own website. It was a very seamless experience and one I'm so grateful for.

In total, we worked with 5+ people. An Illustrator, brand designer, ux designer, head of design, Nate and his co-founder, Alex.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Our redesign and new brand identity are getting a lot of compliments in the industry. People are very excited about this and as a result, we have seen an increase in signups to our community as well as more people reaching out for business partnerships. It's been great!

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

Everyone was very easy to communicate and work with. As someone who specializes in Design operations, this was very important to me. I wanted to make sure expectations were set, role and responsibilities were clear and that there were no surprises. They went above and beyond my expectations. The process was very easy and didn't feel like a big laborious project.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

I was blown away by the professionalism and expertise in their craft. It's so great to see a company like Fuego UX thrive. They are great humans with such a great work ethic and a true eye for design. That goes a long way.

Our original SOW was focused on UI/UX improvement via a site structure overhaul. After working with Fuego UX for a relatively short time, we quickly recognized their multi-faceted talent across not only UI/UX but also broader design and branding; we chose to expand our SOW with them to include a much-needed brand refresh. Fuego UX guided us in a highly-organized and professional way throughout every step of this process, helping us achieve not only a much stronger site experience but also a substantially more up-to-date brand experience complete with a beautifully-designed set of all brand assets required for our brand book.

We've seen a -35% decrease in Bounce Rate and a 66% increase in on-site Engagement Rate since launch of our Fuego UX-redesigned/rebranded site.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

Highly effective. Our company is in an industry that necessitates communication across otherwise atypical communicative platforms, and Fuego UX was not only quick to accommodate but also highly responsive across these platforms at all times.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

Their UI/UX design and implementation is grounded in hard data and is unto itself fantastic; beyond that excellent execution, where they especially shone for us was in helping us transition a tired and outdated brand into something incredibly reflective of Web3 expectations, both in branding and in user experience -- by no means an easy feat.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

Nothing that comes to mind. I'd be happy to work with them again!

The Fuego UX team was brought in to help us with upfront Product Strategy / Discovery work and Design Services. We needed a partner that could embed with our team, deliver top notch client consulting skills and share our approach for design-led, user-first products.

We found this partner through our network and had a few intro sessions to discuss their background, our needs, the upcoming projects, and our approach.

The two projects I directly oversaw where upfront discovery and product strategy efforts. They were both under a month of work and were led by a team of 2. The team was responsible for working closely with the client to lead PDS exercises, and then use our findings to inform a prototype to be tested with users. Based on all of those activities, we put together a suggested strategy for formal development.

We worked primarily with a Senior Designer who serves as both a Designer and Product Manager for us.

I am the sole UX designer of a rapidly growing startup.

As the sole UX designer who could see we desperately needed to formalize a design system so we could continue to grow. I wanted to have someone who had the time for attention to detail, were able to propose standards.

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor?

I had been searching for a UI designer for months in a job seekers market and having no luck in finding a quality candidate. Alex from FuegoUX sent me a marketing email and I figured I'd have a conversation with them to see how they might be able to help. They were also able to show me other projects they had worked on that were similar and I could see they knew knew what they're were doing!

We had designs, and somewhat of a design system in Sketch. I handed to FuegoUX the Sketch file, access to our test environment and also to the Front End Developers' styleguide and they did an audit of what we had, standardized the components, made suggestions on new icon libraries and built it all in Figma.

I worked with the Head of Design - Nate, and two of his designers, Anna and Joyce. I believe Nate lead the project with Anna and Joyce doing the bulk of the design work.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

I transitioned out of the company before I saw it's fruition but I know the design system will allow future UX designers at the startup to hit the ground running when they start and be able to think more about the UX as the UI is mostly thought out for them. I think it's likely FuegoUX will stay on and do more work in improving the UI and possibly UX!

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

Communication was very easy. We met three times and week and spoke on Slack if needed. They really understood our needs, planned out what they were doing, and shared each step with us.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

Their skills and speed. SO impressed with their knowledge with Figma and design systems.

Nothing!

What challenge were you trying to address with Fuego UX?

We were trying to kick off a new project to redevelop our client portal.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Fuego UX conducted user research, low fidelity product design and information architecture, and high fidelity design using Sigma.

What is the team composition?

We worked with four members from their team, including Nate (Co-Founder), a user researcher, and a couple of UX designers.

How did you come to work with Fuego UX?

We worked together on other projects before this one. I decided to work with them again because I was impressed with their approach to design.

How much have you invested with them?

We spent around $32,000 with them.

What is the status of this engagement?

We worked together from September–October 2021.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

From a qualitative perspective, we incorporated their designs into several road map presentations, which we shared with key customers and received excellent feedback. 

How did Fuego UX perform from a project management standpoint?

They were great; they remained on time and within the planned budget. In terms of communication, we used Slack and Zoom.

What did you find most impressive about them? 

Their end-to-end approach to design and incorporating a significant emphasis on user research were outstanding.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I don’t think there’s anything they can improve on — I was delighted with their performance on the project.

Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the chief delivery officer for a boutique consulting company. We’re primarily focused on product innovation work such as research and strategy phases all the way through design, coding, building, and launching digital products.

What challenge were you trying to address with Fuego UX?

We had an opportunity with an existing external client, but we found ourselves short-staffed. We didn’t have the necessary talent in-house to do everything that our external customer wanted to do. We then hired Fuego UX to augment an existing team with another designer.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Since I worked at the executive level, I couldn’t speak to what the designer specifically did compared to the rest of the team. However, I know that the designer focused on creating conceptual prototypes for research purposes. Our external client also provided design guidelines during the project.

Their goal was to help our third-party customer reevaluate their community engagement. It was a major step towards having a solid decision if they were going to augment their existing platform or if they were going to change the nature of their organization’s membership.

What is the team composition?

We only worked with their designer, but we collaborated with their CEO to create the contract.

How did you come to work with Fuego UX?

We were introduced to Fuego UX through a mutual connection; they knew our design director. We then had an initial phone call without any particular project in mind — we just met them to get to know them. They showcased some of their capabilities and walked us through some of their case studies. That’s why when the opportunity came up with an external client, I had them in mind as a company that could fulfill the conceptual prototypes we needed. 

I remembered that they had done something similar previously, so I reached out to them if they were available. After that, we had a relatively quick back and forth over email. Then, we had a chance to get on the phone and meet their designer. Their designer shared her experience and skillsets as well as showcased some of her individual work. In the end, they met all our expectations and it seemed that they’d be able to fulfill what we wanted.

We spent $10,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We worked with them in June 2021, and the project lasted for three weeks.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

We built our business on establishing strong client relationships, and we were impressed that Fuego UX’s designer was able to establish a good relationship with our external client pretty quickly. She was also able to jump in and provide insights. It was a fairly short project so there wasn’t a lot of time to ramp up, but she did really well. She also completed the scope on time and on budget and incorporated our external client’s feedback well. Overall, everyone was pleased with Fuego UX designer's services.

How did Fuego UX perform from a project management standpoint?

They didn’t do any project management, but they met all of the milestones that we required. We used Slack and Zoom to communicate. We also used Figma for the designs and Mirro for the mapping and planning work.

What did you find most impressive about them?

I only worked with them for three weeks and they did a good job, but nothing stood out to me as impressive during our short partnership.

Are there any areas they could improve?

One constructive feedback that our internal team had for their designer was to be confident in her opinions. She provided a lot of value, but it seemed like she was hesitant to share.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Based on our very limited experience with them, it works really well once they’re embedded within your internal team.

After talking to multiple vendors, the attention that Fuego UX gave to us even during the first meeting was crucial for our decision.

Fuego UX team is working towards redesigning the entire interface and experience of our users for the DocQ web-based platform. This has been a challenge, because DocQ is already a quite large platform, and it has been growing at the same time that their team is working on it.

How many resources from the Fuego Ux's team worked with you, and what were their positions?

There were four resources working with us in this project (typically 2 simultaneously). Interesting that one of the main resources had to leave the project and another one was smoothly allocated to work with us. The transition was transparent and without any drawbacks to the progress of this project.

We are extremely satisfied with the end product that Fuego UX is delivering to us.

Constant follow up meeting take place to make sure that everybody is on the same page. This has been crucial to the success of this project.
