A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I am the creative director for a software-based product company, and we provide a more holistic approach to social networking. We create solutions for web-based and CRM platforms and we have a strong team based in Serbia, India, and Sweden.
What challenge were you trying to address with Fragmant?
We were looking for a partner who can assist us in a logistics-based platform project. We have a strong development team but unfortunately, we don’t have a lot of bandwidth for UI development.
What was the scope of their involvement?
Fragmant provided UI development and frontend design for one of our projects. We then worked together in integrating the designs they created into the backend systems.
We initially started with the briefing from the client talking about their problem and how we can solve them. It took about 2–3 months of back and forths with the client, before they approved and finalized the wireframe. Once that was done, Fragment provided us with the visual design system with a brand new UI document that included all the details required.
What is the team composition?
We worked with two designers, one project manager, and two frontend developers, so there were roughly about five people who worked on the project.
How did you come to work with Fragmant?
We came across their website and we were impressed with their content involving UI development. They have a lot of knowledge in terms of the different parameters when considering user experience. We know that their competitors have a lot of skills, but we just felt like they knew better than others based on their portfolio.
Additionally, they’re based in Serbia and we actually have an office there, so it was easy for us to coordinate with them in terms of time zones.
How much have you invested with them?
We worked in different phases. The first phase cost us about $15,000, the second was roughly around $10,000, and the final phase was about $15,000. If I were to calculate the total, we spent around $40,000–$45,000.
What is the status of this engagement?
Our partnership ran from March 2020–January 2021.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
We benchmarked the success based on how happy the client was, and how efficiently they are using the system. We didn’t experience any issues over the course of working with the client, as well as Fragmant. The product was recently deployed so we’re still going to be gathering consumer insights for their comments and feedback. Though everything is good at the moment.
How did Fragmant perform from a project management standpoint?
Their oral communication was fine as we didn’t struggle much regarding that. We used an agile method of working so there were no contingent timelines that we had to complete the project under. It’s more of a flexible schedule as opposed to waiting for deadlines. Whenever something came up, it was resolved right away.
We typically used Zoom and WhatsApp and we communicated with them once a day — usually in the morning. We would talk about the day’s agenda and report any progress updates or new developments.
What did you find most impressive about them?
Because I was working with the design team and closely monitoring the project from my site, I found their design team to be really great. They were very creative and would come up with out-of-the-box ideas. In terms of UI development, there are some constraints that make it successful and those trends should be carried forward. However, in terms of the way they designed the product, they were really distinct.
In terms of communication, we’ve worked with a lot of European agencies, and some of them don’t have the level of communication Fragmant has. Communication is one great attribute to help with managing the project, and understanding the business.
Are there any areas they could improve?
In terms of improvement, maybe they can deliver their tasks more promptly, as opposed to taking their time. Then again, I can’t complain too much because we all agreed on the methodology of the process. There was a lot of waiting between all three parties so not much could’ve been done.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Before partnering with them, it’s always better to have a plan before starting a project. It’s better to work with an agency when you have a more concrete plan from the beginning.
While feedback for the product is yet to be acquired, Fragmant was still praised for keeping the clients happy and minimizing the issues involved with the development. Internal clients are impressed with how they were able to manage the project with flexibility and efficiency.
